Paul Andersen takes you on a tour of the cell. He starts by explaining the difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. He also explains why cells are small but not infinitely small. He also explains how the organelles work together in a similar fashion.

I've never found a more comprehensive concise helpful introduction to cells. In fact, after pretty extensive study I've learned several things that would really have helped me along the way. I really wish I'd have found this one earlier. Totally awesome work on so many levels.

Just a quick tip: If you really tried to use magnet to your CRT screen and you can't get rid of color stripes even with demagnetization, just use transformer soldering iron. Turn it on near the screen and slowly pull it away. It will fix the screen. Did not believe that until I saw it on my own eyes.

drea24c Golgi apparratus: Mainly used for packing and shipping proteins. It receives protein containing vesicles from the Rough endoplasmic reticulum. Vesicles are transporting sacs used to carry certain stuff so you know. It also adds carbohydrates to proteins before shipping them off. This is sort of like the post office of a cell. Mitochondria: Only women have this and give it to us. This is where cellular respiration takes place. Basically, our cells need fuel and there is this specific type of fuel called glucose. Glucose is broken down in the cytosol. The molecules that result after the glucose is broken down in the cytosol then enter the Mitochondria. The Mitochondria then changes that glucose into energy the cell can used called ATP(Aedenosine Triphosphate). The production of the ATP using the fuel molecules and oxygen is called cellular respiration. Endoplasmic Reticulum: There are two types rough endoplasmic reticulum and smooth. The main difference is one has ribosomes attached to it which gives it a rough appearance.The RER receives only newly synthesized proteins and transports them to where they need to go. The inside of the RER is termed "lumen". Inside the lumen(fancy world for saying interior of the RER). Proteins are chemically tagged and altered to fit the role they need to be for the specific cellular functions. How the proteins are shipped from the RER is by things called vesicles which are like transporting pods. These vesicles(pods) are always pinched off from the RER itself to transport the proteins. From here they can go anywhere like ro the Golgi Apparatus where they are inspected and shipped. The RER basically makes and synthesizes the proteins to how they need to be, while the golgi just modifies it all little so it can be ready. The smooth ER is where glycogen is degraded. Here lipids and steroids are synthesized. Here is where chemical modifications are made. You see as cells take up small molecules it is up to the SER to make these small toxic molecules more polar which makes the more water soluble and easily removed. Centrioles: Associated with nuclear division. Basically they help the nucleus divide. I haven't covered this in detail as it leans more toward cell division,miosis, mitosis,

wow I hope these videos stay on here! I went to high school years ago I'm now 31 but I did poorly on my science exams.. I want to go to university in order to do that I need to go back and do refresher courses or take an exam.. the courses are expensive.. I really think I can take notes off these videos (you did amazingly well) take some practice exams online and go for the real exams, and completely skip going to school and doing this at home for free!!

My results of the test (had to go back and look at 4 & 7 to remember.) 1. Nucleolus; DNA carries out task from DNA to create ribosomes which further create structural support for itself, thus creating the other parts of the cell. 2. Nucleus; Control centre of the cell, carries out tasks for the cell. Nuclear membrane; Provides structural support and protection for the nucleolus. 3. Ribosomes; make proteins 4. Vesicles; intracellular transporters 5. Rough ER; makes ribosomes (which make proteins) for the cell to further develop the cell. 6. Golgi Bodies/Apparatus; Transport centre of the cell, refines and packages macromolecules for transport. 7. Cytoskeleton; Like a bridge, provide tensional and structural support for the host cell. 8. Smooth ER; makes macromolecules. 9. Endoplasmic Reticulum; Power centre of the cell through the production of ATP. 10. Cytosol; Water storage inside plant cells. 11. Cytoplasm; liquid which organelles float in 12. Lysosome; Intracellular digestive system, which if exploded would kill it’s cell with digestive enzymes. Thanks again Paul! :)
