This is one the best ideas ya'll have ever had. I could listen to you guys bag on these albums for hours! The only album of these that I've ever owned is the Eagles one, which I promptly threw away. Note to self: never design a play for Kram with two seconds on the clock. As Jason correctly observes, Kram held the title of people's champion for about eight minutes. Eight long and dark minutes. By video's end, order is restored, and Joe reigns again. Why, you ask? Because Joe speaks for the people!

Out of curiosity, I listened to the Corey Feldman / Beach Boys matchup. I made it through two and half songs on the Feldman album before my ears were threatening to bleed and I decided my IQ was being insulted. While the Beach Boys album is nothing but a string of cliches stitched together, they are, at least, Beach Boys' cliches, and I was able to make it through the album - bored and saddened, but at least the harmonies were nice. Why, there's even a couple of melodies in there. I have no idea what Feldman's album is even trying to be. I can't even tell what target he's missing.

Y'all inspired me to re-listen to The Weirdness, and it really doesn't belong anywhere near this list. The songs maybe aren't on a a level with The Stooges' first three albums, but it's still a better punk rock album than 95% of punk rock albums post-2000. Also one of the better reunion albums. Love the title track.

Giving "Angelic 2 the Core" a listen. I think I want to die. I feel like I am on the spinning saucer ride at the fair and I've just eaten ten egg salad sandwiches with a tapioca pudding chaser. I'm going to keep defending the Shaggs! If you can dismantle your preconceptions about how music should behave, the album is really quite beautiful in its way. When he praised it, I don't think Frank Zappa was merely being humorous. As Mike Fornatale says (I can't link to the interview with him, but you can find it on KZfaq), there's a purity of expression there that cannot be counterfeited.

The objective worst album of all time is probably Bull of Heaven’s 2014 album It Is Part of Space and Time, which is a single tiny loop set to play for longer than the entire universe has existed. 😂 I checked out what the loop sounds like on KZfaq, and... yeah. A review from Rate Your Music: “I'm not even sure how to take a look at this album. This album is apparently 8.63x10^10 years long, and apparently, it's longer than the entire time the universe has existed. It's so long, that it even breaks RYM's display; I'm pretty sure the track display being "1-17981820198000" is unintentional. I can't even begin to wrap my head around this. How did they even make this? Where would you keep this whole album stored? In what capacity does this exist? Maybe it doesn't even exist for all we know? I don't know! I have zero clue how this can simply exist! And that is why I will not give this album a rating at all, because I'm completely unsure how to even begin looking at this behemoth. An A for effort, I suppose?”

Kramzer makes a point by underscoring Joe's support of Nickelback and Limp Bizkit back to back. That's a stinging factoid, alright! And now a comment about Pink Floyd's Ummagumma: The live disc saves it. The version of 'Astronomy Domine' is a heady, psych-rock masterpiece that warrants many listens. That genre may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for what is, if fits the bill nicely. Moreover, the studio half of the album still has a couple moments of redemption. 'Grantchester Meadows' is a hauntingly beautiful acoustic ballad that's both pastoral and psychedelic at the same time, a difficult feat to pull off. Parts of the Narrow Way are at least interesting, and the bizarre 'Small Furry Animals.' piece is.... well, at least it's a conversation piece. It's something to talk about. That Eagles album... that's nothing to talk about.

I agree about Ummagumma. Many Floyd fans consider it to be a pretty decent record. It was experimental and had some standout tracks. It seemed like a necessary step towards the direction they were headed in. As for the live stuff, I think they wanted to show that they were getting past Sid's recent sacking. It sounds a bit dated but I think the visceral energy of Gilmour's performance proves that they were going to be fine. I was kind of surprised that this album made the list of baddies. It certainly is not my least favorite Pink Floyd record!

@@kenm.3512 Mine either! And well said. I was a bit bemused this album was tapped for worst album ever category. Sure, it's an esoteric, challenging record that certainly defies conventionality, but that alone shouldn't slate it for the chopping block. I could effortlessly compile a whole slew of albums that would rank far worse than Ummagumma! But each to his/her own, of course.

With all due respect I really don’t understand all the hate with Ummagumma. Maybe you had to be there when it came out. My first Pink Floyd album was Atom Heart Mother which I bought in 1970 or 1971 when I was in Junior High. I bought Ummagumma shortly afterwards and I loved it. The first disc is a great Pink Floyd live album with possibly the best Careful With that Axe Eugene and Astronomy Domine. The second disc (the bonus disc) is not really Pink Floyd; it’s solo experimentation which you can either take or leave, much like Apple Jam (from All Things Must Pass). It was priced as a single disc, so for me, the second disc was a freebie. So, I’d give the live album 4 stars and ignore the bonus one.

@@davidbeckman7925 One of the most fascinating things about her career is that so many of her best songs were NOT released on the albums that she released. Check out the following songs from her: "Jeremy Engle," "Down," "Bars of The Bed," "Stuck On An Island," and "Fine Again," for example. "Jeremy Engle" and "Fine Again" were released on a download-only digital copy (actually called "comeandgetit") when her self-titled album came out. Those were tracks that were turned down by execs and songs like "Extraordinary," "Rock Me" and "Why Can't I" were recorded instead. "Down" was also from those sessions, I believe. I never heard the story as to why she didn't release it - it's also got a pretty cool video you should check out. "Bars of the Bed" (among several other outtakes) was recorded during the "whitechocolatespaceegg" sessions. I liked the eventual release, but that song, "Bloodkeeper," "Freak Of Nature," "White Bird of Texas," and "Hurricane Cindy," among others, are just fantastic songs. The album after her self-titled, called "Somebody's Miracle," could have been another big hit album for her but somebody decided to release "Everything To Me" as the first single. It was NOT a good idea. She should have released "Count On My Love" and "Giving It All To You" as the first two singles. Those two songs are catchy as hell. I especially like "The Wind And The Mountain" from that record. The song would have been much better served if it were recorded by, I don't know, the Allman Brothers or Warren Haynes or some other jam band, I think. As you can tell, I'm a fan. I think "Guyville" is one of the absolute greatest albums ever released. Good luck discovering her music.

@@davidbeckman7925 Furthermore, she actually IS still creating music. She was supposed to release an album last year called "Soberish" and go out on tour with Alanis Morrissette. It's a funny competition, cuz some of these records are competently played and recorded but the syle bugs you, like Nickelback or Eagles, some of these records are slightly oddball artistic choices that might work for some people, like Lou Reed with Metallica or Liz Phair (i actually kinda like the Liz Phair, including the weird intro sound collage piece and the rap... which are meant to be goofy but just bug most people), and then there are those records that are actually incompetent like The Shaggs or Corey Feldman, where there's a lack of musical understanding. You may wonder why the Beach Boys ended up allowing a production like their record to get all the way to the end and be released, but it's an aesthetic failing not a technical one.

I'm finding Boston and the Shaggs a surprisingly tough call as well. I thought Philosophy of the World had to win hands down. But the truth is, most of that Boston is just painful to listen to while The Shaggs are at least intriguing. To my amazement, I'm leaning towards a vote for Boston. Interesting, that Boston has some lame voice-overs as well. It's starting to look like a bad album hallmark.

I definitely score bad records much higher than most. I have a feeling that I could leave the nickelback album on in the background and tolerate it. Which means I'd give it a score of a high F or 3 stars (6/10). I save sub 3 stars for stuff I just can't listen to at all. Hundreds of albums release every year and I save the really low scores for truly unlistenable stuff. Boring, sell out music doesn't really trigger me I guess. That said, I did not, and never plan to, listen to the Nickelback album. I have listened to LuLu and I can't imagine that Nickelback is worse than that craptastic album.

1) Angelic 2 the Core is the worst album (and my favorite to take it all), but Summer in Paradise deserved to stay in contention longer. Hearing my favorite band fall this low is downright tragic; I'd honestly prefer 45 minutes of armpit noise to this. 2) After the last MB video and TITS' Trainwrecked on St. Anger, I gave Lulu another listen, and dammit, there's some good stuff on there ("Iced Honey" rocks and "Junior Dad" is just gorgeous.) It's a challenging listen and not all of it works, but there are some rewards if you're willing to dive in. As I said before, it'd probably have a better rep if it didn't come with the expectations of a Metallica album...

Maybe it's me but I get the sense that Liz Phair's album is intentionally bad, an act of artistic suicide and a kiss off to the record industry that she pretty much abandoned anyway. Many of the songs appear to be parodies of the pop music of the time, which was and still is pretty lousy. I don't know much about her but I do vaguely recall she made alot of people uncomfortable with her debut album, which was seen as vulgar. Maybe this is the other side of the same coin. I don't know. All these remaining albums are not good for different reasons, but a few are just awful by any standard. My bracket picks are The Shaggs/Limp Bizkit/Feldman/Bon Jovi. Does that mean I like the Boston/Nickelback/Phair/Eagles albums? No, it doesn’t; it means I literally can’t bear to listen to my “winners.” For me, Boston is just a meh album by a classic band. By comparison, The Shaggs is indescribable bad from the first note. How someone green light Philosophy of the World is beyond me. One of our two close matchups is Limp Bizkit versus Nickelback. Guess this just comes down to who you hate the worst. For me, Nickelback is an overproduced and (back in the day) overplayed rock band, but I can listen to this album without wanting to cut my own wrists to make it stop. Limp Bizkit is what they play in Hell to torture people for their sins. God, this Liz Phair album sucks. Yeah, the first two songs set the suck meter high; the rest of the album never really deviates much from that high level; and when I finished listening I knew there was no way Feldman could be worse. I was wrong: his album was unlistenable where Liz’s just sucked. Corey for the win!!! The BIG matchup of the week is Bon Jovi versus The Eagles. How does one compare crap with garbage? For me, one was preachy crap where the other was fairly pedestrian garbage which could just be easily tuned out. Bon Jovi easily wins here, as Jon forgot to actually produce good music to go with his anthemic proselytizing. Can’t wait to see the final votes!
