A tribute to a Great Brit .... aka 70013 Oliver Cromwell - a journey over 30+ years

Күн бұрынI first came across Oliver Cromwell (the locomotive) in the 1980s whilst on holiday on the Norfolk Broads. Bressingham Gardens seemed an unlikely place for this massive beast but I did enjoy a footplate ride up and down a short track in the gardens. Luckily 70013 and 46100 Royal Scot) escaped from the gardens and this video shows Oliver Cromwell on the main line and preserved railways over the past eight years after its restoration. Ollie will not be retiring just yet as it will be running on the GCR for months to come but March 3rd 2018 marks the end of its mainline journeys on the current boiler certificate. I hope you enjoy this tribute.

John, apart from this tribute being a wonderful compilation of video & audio sequences, it very clearly shows your feelings for such a tremendous locomotive. Sheer magic - thank you. On a (slightly) less profound note, what a superb choice of filming location for Dawlish Wall, and probably the only time I've really felt that noise of the wind has added to the atmosphere of a video sequence - I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. A wonderful tribute to this Star of a loco John, I first saw and travelled behind her around Lancashire in April 1968, I also saw her at Diss, and at many events over the years....Let's hope she's back soon....Best wishes....Bob

Good tribute to a fine loco John. I never saw her at Bressingham but it was a great day when 'Steam Railway' managed to launch the successful appeal to put Ollie back on the mainline. I'd like to see her a bit more up north but I feel that isn't likely when she returns to the mainline
