The Britannia Bark ! 70013 Oliver Cromwell On The GCR & The Mainline !

A video compilation of the only other surviving Britannia class in the form of 70013 Oliver Cromwell. This short video features our favourite scenes from a six year period along the Great Central Railway and the mainline national network where that Britannia Bark can be heard to its full extent.

The steam preceding and engulfing the loco is spectacular. The sound is also charismatic.

It used to be a prized catch to find one of these beasts shunted over at Gainsborough Central awaiting a path towards Immingham with the crew cleaning the fire and doing a walk round. Little did I know I would eventually drive the same route many years later on a regular basis.

Trespassing puts these events at risk and although fences are clearly visible in some locations, in others they clearly are not. I’d love to give this vid a 👍🏻but I can’t because you could be contributing to these magnificent locomotives only being seen on static display. Respect the law, do not trespass on the railways and help to keep these locomotives on our railways. I’d be happier watching your vid even if part of it was blocked by some bushes or fences etc or if they were made from a nearby field or bridge etc. I don’t enjoy knowing that you are trespassing because you could be contributing to none of us seeing this again, I hope you understand what I’m saying.

Half of the scenes featured in this video are taken on the Great Central Railway (a private preserved railway) this is backed up with the added addition of a lineside permit/pass for members of the railway, to which I owned. There is zero tresspass featured in this video, any close up shot taken on the mainline was taken from a public vantage point or public right of way across the railway AKA a foot crossing ! I hope you understand what I'm saying.
