I had never heard about Ernie Davis until tonight when I watched “The Express.” What I got from the movie is he was a superstar in every aspect of his life, humble and all round good guy. Maybe Rest In Peace. From Australia.

In 1958 I was 10 years old and a big football fan. I knew about Ernie Davis because I knew about Syracuse football. He was an inspiration as a person of character, an inspiration to his race as a person of character, and an inspiration for young people. I cried when he died.

I'm guessing Ernie was a good guy so he wouldn't throw football games. Did the Illuminati poison him with arsenic because they couldn't control him ? I know for a fact pro & college games are rigged. Anyone who can't see the system is rigged is a blind fool.Also Democracy is an illusion of choice. There is one party masquerading as two. Politics is ridiculous theater. If They don't pull another fake president assassination Trump is the incompetent guy that takes the US into WW3. All the world's a stage & all of the men & women are merely role players

Can you imagine Brown and Davis in the same backfield? Get out of the way!!!
@vestibulate
@vestibulate 5 жыл бұрын
@@beatlejim64 At the time there were questions asked, whether two superlative running backs could share the load productively. Would Brown be happy with fewer carries and less yardage? Would Davis be able to equal his college achievements vying for opportunities with Brown? Sometimes these ideal situations don't add up to increased success. But I'll tell you one thing. Ernie Davis was one hell of a running back, and his loss as a person was deeply felt.

The first African American to win the Heisman trophy played running back for SU. His story is tragic passing away at such a young age but what I like about Ernie the most is that he never complained or asked why me? His talent is obvious when seeing some of the old highlights of him playing. He has a grace when he runs and looks to be as big as some of the linebackers chasing him.

“I had no problem not winning it, but I did have a problem knowing that I couldn’t win it.” Brown got robbed blind in the Heisman vote. In 1956, playing running back for Syracuse, he scored fourteen touchdowns in eight games, gaining about 125 rushing yards per game averaging 6.2 yards per carry. Paul Hornung, playing quarterback for Notre Dame, threw three touchdown passes and thirteen interceptions for the year. Hornung was given the Heisman Trophy. Race must have been part of it, but it probably also helped Hornung that he played for a school that was much better known nationally. I don't think Brown got much support from Heisman voters outside the East.

Nobody was better than Jim Brown. My dad is a Syracuse alum, my high school football coach, George Davis, was a SU half back. I watched all the great backs (Nance, Csonka, Davis, Little) at SU over the years both at college and in the pros. Ernie was terrific and would have been a terrific pro. But just watch Brown run. The power, speed and balance was the best combination any back has ever had.

Interestingly enough: Kennedy was assasinated in the same year Davis went to Glory. The first Black Heisman Trophy Winner was a Great Man of God with character and not just fame. He actually Broke the Walls and Parted the Red Seas like Moses but did not go through it. Martin Luther King went through the Red Sea and took the Black Man to the Promised Land but did not make it . I could also mention William Joseph Seymore, a One Eyed Black Man that brought every Race together for 24 Hour Prayer but gets no mention at all! Something to meditate and pray about as far as Race coming together as One, like God Sees us all!
