A sad moment in history for the loss of a great visionary that influenced the world with his genius artistry in an elitism class of his own. His work was magical and he created dreams that made the world a better place. May you rest in peace.

The fashion industry will never be the same without him. I have bought the fendi karlio (think that how you spell it ) a few years ago and I’m happy I have it. Pulled it out again to use it. Best 1500 I ever spent.

I have no a clue about fashion. But, the way this man think really got my eyes open. I saw a documentary about him. He is the real deal when it comes to what is important and why you shouldn't take your self so serious. 😂😂😂Just amazing.

I'm commenting here because the "Big Interview" with Herr Lagerfeld's comments were disabled. I went to watch an interview because I don't remember hearing this man speak--on Any subject. Had the anticipation he'd be some self pretentious prissy jerk. WOW! Was I wrong and had jumped to conclusion! What a view of the World and his industry! GREATLY impressed! Some Real words to ponder and take heed. What a command of his world and what his outlook was from his perspective. Sorry I really didn't take the time to watch him before! RIP!

I really appreciated Karl Lagerfeld for his wit, intelligence, extravagance, straight forwardness. He didnt bend over for anybody. I remember when he made the skirt suit for MelaniaTrump that she wore on the inauguration day of the Donald, all the shitstorm he had to suffer, instrumentaliced by press , media, politics even some of his hightly honored fashion colleagues. But he didnt cared at all, ... only wanted to make a fine piece of fashion. Yes ... born in Hamburg he become very successful in France - he is for me also a symbol for the Franco-german partnership.

Creativity of Fashion

I find it interesting that despite the fact he and YSL both won in a Paris contest when neither had yet had any success. They both reached heights in fashion that one could argue were equally high. Of course YSL passed quite some time ago and KL outlived him. I saw an exhibit at SAM a few years back of YSL’s work. The pieces were original sample clothes hats and even his high fashion paper dolls. He was also very gifted. When you see things he created they were iconic and fashion keeps recycling both of their visions. YSL clearly had stored his favorite sample pieces for decades before he died which were all in the exhibit modeled on sheik manakin’s. Karl was also gifted but he always remained freelance and only had a small men’s line in his own name. KL was unique, his upbringing was interesting he described it in French for FENDI in VOGUE Mexico. I found it fascinating just how well he communicated his designs with his amazing sketches and never lost his own sense of style. VV I think will have had great experience working with him all these years. It seems fitting given how devoted to his fashion family he was.
