A trip on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway

The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway takes passengers from Ravenglass, the only coastal village in the Lake District National Park, to Dalegarth for Boot some 210ft above sea level.
Several heritage steam engines are used, and sometimes diesel engines.
Seen here is a trip on saturday 8th August 2015 outward from Ravenglass (diesel hauled), passing through several stations on the way to Dalegarth in Eskdale. Then the return journey which was steam hauled.
The 7 mile (11.3km) line is single track with several passing places. There are turntables at Ravenglass and Dalegarth for turning the engines.
The engines seen in this video are 'River Irt' (1894), 'River Mite' (1960), 'Northern Rock' (1976), and the diesel 'Douglas Ferreira', built in 2005.

I visited the Ratty numerous times from my teenage years till recently, having been brought up in Seascale. As an apprentice at Sellafield, I worked for a time with Doulas Robinson not long before he passed away. I love this railway so much. Thangs for the memories!!

Just spotted myself at 12:26I'm the guard [In training] in the red hoodie doing the arm signals as River Mite pulls into Irton Road.Fantastic Video, I hope you had a good time on the railway :)

What a lovely film, Julian. It was especially nice for me to see my old school friend and neighbour from the 60s driving River Irt. Peter, spent most of his free time at Laal ratty and would head off each Friday evening after school for a weekend on his beloved railway. Fifty years later and he's still there! I'm sure you would have had a good trip back to Ravenglass in his capable hands. A very enjoyable watch. Thank you. Kind regards Frank.

+TheDoodyman Thanks Frank. Glad you liked it. I was trying to cover the journey without it being tedious. I put the camera on a monopod at an angle out of the 'window' to try an make the bumpy journey more smooth - and was pleased with the result. I hate seeing 'from the window' shots all bouncing up and down! Ideally I should have added some location shots actually looking at the train other than from on it - but didnl't have the time.
