Just came across your channel. Tailgating is mostly associated with college (university) and professional American football games. It’s VERY American. From small hibachi grills with your basic hamburgers and hotdogs to industrial sized smokers where meats are smoked for 12 - 16 hours, a tailgater’s setup can range from very basic (the back of your pickup) to those with decorations that rival a fancy wedding reception. Tailgating is geared for the entire family. Here are a few fun American sports facts to surprise you: (1) 8 of the 10 largest stadiums in the world are American college football stadiums, (2) 8 American college football stadiums seat at least 100,000 people, (3) quite a number of American college football stadiums are bigger than the largest NFL (pro) stadium, (4) it’s not uncommon to have thousands of tailgate parties going on outside the stadium before an American college football game. Since the college stadiums are located on the schools’ campuses, they have more room to spread out to accommodate tailgating, unlike the NFL or MLS, where the stadiums are often located downtown, so have more limited space. (5) A ton of the schools have larger attendance than any professional sports league in the world; college athletes are amateur. (6) We don’t segregate fans at our sporting events like they do at English football games, which baffles British visitors. If you want to experience a college football game, then I suggest going to a game in Gainesville, about two hours north of Orlando, which is home to the Univ of Florida Gators. (The regular American college football season runs from about late Aug - early Dec.) American college football games are an event: tailgating, the game itself, marching bands, pre-game and halftime shows, lots of music and singing, djs, and military flyovers. If you go to a night game, there will be light shows, drone shows and fireworks. There are tons of YT videos on the size of the stadiums, the teams taking to the field, traditions, environment, loudness, rivalries, etc. At one school, whose stadium seats about 85,000, when the attendees jump up and down, it creates a small earthquake in the area. Have your kids check out the YT video on the Ohio State University Marching Band’s Tribute to Hollywood Blockbuster Movies. It’s fun to watch. The band does at least one tribute to Disney. I think it also does another halftime show on Disney villains, but that might be a different school. And not long after the American college football season ends, then there is March Madness, where a large percentage of the country focuses on the men’s college basketball tournament, where the national champion is crowned. Once the 64 teams are announced, everyone will be rushing to fill out their brackets - you have to fill the whole thing out, including picking the winner, before the first game is played. Since gambling is a big part of March Madness, most businesses in the US will warn their employees that office pools will not be tolerated during March Madness, but no one listens.

Hi Jamie, I have the opportunity for 2 MLS tickets for the Orlando- Miami game in May but I’m travelling alone with my 8 yr old son and we’re not driving, I’ve just watched your vlog and now I’m wondering if it will actually be safe considering I’ll need to get an uber back to the hotel?
