I've been watching The Andy Griffith Show on Netflix lately and i get lost in it. I was born in '93 and my dad tried so hard to instill those wholesome values but they were diluted by the more modern times i was being raised in. When i watch that show i see why he tried so hard. It makes me almost teary when i finally turn it off for the day because i get so fascinated and lost in the simplicity and kindness of that era. I wish people still thought like that and treated each other like they do on the show. I try to do that. I'm in customer service and i try to make everyone in my small town leave my store smiling. I guess I'm also making a longer story than needed to just say thanks for the upload. I appreciate seeing this.

I am only 14 and I love this show. it reminds me of simpler times when everything was more simple and people were more loving towards one another and the shows on TV were family friendly. Andy Griffith is truly a gift given to the world not only for his acting and entertainment but for the spark of love laughter and family he left with us today. Andy will always be remembered for that❤

Same here. I can list off some old shows that I watch and love. Andy Griffith Show, I Love Lucy, Leave It to Beaver, The Twilight Zone, Bwitched, I Dream Of Jeanie, M*A*S*H, Taxi, Happy Days (Ron Howard was on that show), The Brady Bunch, The Carol Burnett Show, Fawlty Towers (A little harder to watch 'cause it's a British sit com, it's on Netflix), Family Ties, Full House, Family Matters, MacGyver, Magnum P.I., Matlock. 90's isn't old so I won't mention the 90's shows. That was 50's to 80's.

Life may have never been like that then... BUT that is Romanticism in art, that is to say, it is life as it should and ought to be. This aesthetic is not modern let alone post-modern. The important thing to consider concerning the Romanticist aesthetic is that it actually could be. It could be realized, just as any nightmare situation of the post-modern era. You might have heard someone say before 'life is what you make it.' This essentially is the artistic aesthetic of enlightenment ideals... The ideals that modernism and post-modernism torn down to be more realistic? What good has it served? Are they in actuality, more realistic? Perhaps, it's a less optimistic, not realistic and that's really all there is to it.

Passed by on our way home from Disney in 2000, passed his house , which at the time was a bed and breakfast, also drove up Pilot Mountain and stayed at the motel there. I think it was called the Mayberry Motel, loved every minute of it . It's the closest thing to going back in time, and you don't have to give up all the great things you have now to do it.

Some folks that were renting out his childhood home (you can stay in it) were nice enough to let us go through the house . A really simple place .You would NOT believe how small Andy's room was . Pilot Mountain and the Derby Restaurant were cool and it has an easy going feel to the area . We'll go again because we hope to see Betty Lynn .

I hated moving back to Memphis, but, I see the main doctor at the satellite office. So, it's all good. He laughed when I said I couldn't help calling his assoc. Opie. Thanks for taking the time to make your video of the museum including the entrance! I know it’s hard to stop at every single item when you’re filming a documentary and amazing you were allowed to film inside. The pause button on my iPhone allowed me to stop and read the many emblems and signs you briefly stopped at so that was not a problem at all. It made your movie last a half hour longer as I paused to read and take it all in. When I want to lower my blood pressure and desperate for a good laugh I look at TAGS! I thought maybe I was getting Alzheimer’s because I would watch it over and over again but then I wouldn’t be able to give the punch lines. Then again, Barney had problems saying the Constitution (“We The People...”) or the “Officer’s Oath”. Anyway...”It’s gooood! I appreciate it, and goodnight!” William Payne

I love Andy Griffith, but life was not simple in the 1960s. Assassinations, war, segregation - the Simple life was only ever on TV.

@@RickMammana Thank you. I was watching Andy Griffith @Sundance 3 weeks ago and noted the scene of a grocery stores in Mayberry of the low pricing those days. Incidentally, l commented to my group members of MacEddy Film Club in US and many members mentioned to me of the good old carefree days & low pricing as compare 60 years later. Oh Wow!! A pound (Ib) of Potatoes @only 2cents, Coke@1 cents and many others of yesteryears pricing. Hey Rick, l thought l saw Barney Fife standing there with his cute bow tie! Shazam!!!

WOW!! GOOD STUFF!! With our country divided like nothing I ever seen before (im 54) along with great memories of days of staying home sick from school and getting excited to watch I Love Lucy at 8am (2 episodes) than Andy Griffith at 9am (2 episodes) and then i'd watch Bonanza for an hour. So now it's 11am i'm gonna have a bowl of soup/broth because i'm sick :) mind you, back to t.v, at 11am i would have to wait for the midday news to end. Than at 12 noon it was time for Twilight Zone (2 episodes) Yes at 54 I don't promote truancy, but hot damn; growing up in the 70s was still so different than today. And being that Andy was filmed in the 60s, I felt like I related to the same era of Andy and all of Mayberry RFD. Back to current time; Even though I don't watch much of anything on tv today, is because it has long lost that wholesome Golden Era because now it's no longer tv, it's called TEL/A/VISION...... I WISH ALL WELL, IF YOUR FAR RIGHT, IF YOUR FAR LEFT, IF YOUR LIBERTARIAN OR YOUR A CONSERVATIVE, GOD BLESS YOU ALL...

Great vid. Thanks for sharing these great memories. Any sign of "the Fun Girls" from Mt Pilot? Lots and lots of great characters who were funny without being vulgar or implied sexual innuendo. I miss those classic TV shows. Thanks for reruns.

Good video. I was just there a couple months back. Then I went down and to rode in one of the actual police cars used in the show and saw Andy's boyhood home. It was awesome! I recommend all Andy Fans to visit!

Young Andy Griffith looked a great deal like Opie or Ron Howard. I learned about Chang and Eng when I was 10. You would think they could cut that strip between them where that was found at autopsy neither of them had enough of their own organs to survive on their own.

Mount Airy is Andy Griffith’s hometown. People say that TAGS was based on Mt. Airy, but Andy said in interviews that it wasn’t. He said Mayberry was a fictional town where all problems were solved in 30 minutes, but Mt. Airy is a real town with real problems that aren’t so easily solved. Eventually, though, Andy quit fighting it. He said that if people want to believe and say that Mayberry was based on Mt. Airy, then let them. The building that houses The Andy Griffith Playhouse and The Andy Griffith Museum used to be an elementary school. That’s where Andy went to school.
