No, the gauge is your ENEMY'S fun gauge. When they are having too much fun, aba installs and the fun meter rapidly depletes.

She is the most volatile and psychotic character in the game and I love it, it’s either you get dumpstered at round start or you enter a transcendent state of flow and end the round in 10 seconds

I feel like at every point in the game, even when i’m getting cooked long range or at 10% HP, I can turn a game around as long as I can get install. It’s a literal morphine shot turned into the form of an anime fighting game character. Including the addiction.

Man you should’ve played her in +R, every character is so broken and she’s way more busted Fun gauge is always full when you transform into fun mode, but you literally just die against most characters if it runs out You have EXTRA fun mode where you get to Gatling anything into anything, all your frame data is better, and you have the most busted pressure and combos in the game, and you get an extra air option, and double fun mode activation staggers on hit and is plus on block. Unblockable flip kick that sets up disgusting combos, and even more damage. Normal mode was better in that game too because you have slide. Most fun character I have ever played. Bought strive just to play her again and I love the new version but goddamn I used to be a straight fucking heroin addict stealing rounds from people

I've found Aba's gameplay loop of "figure out how to get into Jealousy Mode and then GGs" to give big dopamine energy. It's an entertaining dynamic of going from being very weak at round start to "screw it, we ball" by the end.

Indeed, I legit only really miss her projectile at this stage as if she had that in Strive she would feel SO much better, and without it timing meaties and contesting in neutral is a larger challenge. Yet I fully understand the balancing act on why to exclude it as well given how much her install can even make Happy Chaos cry.

I think he's thinking of counter as an actual counter. I BELIEVE the purpose is entirely for the resource gain, so not being plus afterwards isn't an issue for its intent. Your offense IS having resource to just lay into your opponent repeatedly. It basically makes it so that you can punish mindless offense with you going right into install a ton

I can’t wait for when people start to really figure out this character. I know we won’t be seeing a lot of you playing her, but I appreciate you showing her off Mr. Jam. Looking at how you approach is always informative and helps me structure my game plan by comparing what I do with what you do. I’ve been using 214K instead of Wild Assault when I get a 5H counterhit on grounded hit, but Wild Assault seems like it might be more consistent. Only time will tell.

at least with anji/pot there's not many occasions where you can utilize her slide to win neutral but I can definitely see it happening with asuka/bridget. parry seems intended just strictly to capitalize meter gain off opponent tossing out stuff carelessly like asuka cubes

A.B.A has the sickest animations. GG has the most unique, fighter to fighter animations and fighting styles. You can't help but to appreciate it. I'm a tekken player who doesn't play any 2d fighters but GG is hands down my favorite 2D to watch.

My first online match with A.B.A was Happy Chaos. Yeah. But other than that she is very fun. I know Danzai isn't the best to just throw out but it's SO tempting. She's probably my favorite stance change character since the differences are SO extreme, but obviously I have to work on using her best stuff in default to earn my fun later. Really happy with how she was handled here.

People also thought Normal mode was too much of a problem for +R ABA to be good. Then the right players discovered how to one shot you if they hit you during Mohora. People didn't find the right Orb FRC combos right away, it took a bit. I'm sure the right people can optimize this character into greatness.

I've been an +R A.B.A. main for 6+ years. I only had 80 hours in Strive at the time of A.B.A's release so I'm not the best Strive player but I have to say normal mode in Strive feels like 10x more stressful than normal mode in +R haha. Been getting used to it but +R normal mode A.B.A. does not feel nearly as helpless. Having a lot of fun with her though and enjoying my time in Strive with her, which is nice because I was not enjoying Strive much before.

Met a lvl 100 ABA yesterday and i gotta say once you know of all her moves and combos she is really dangerous. She loses to fast high range pokes like faust but if she can dodge it or endure it close enough she can do whatever she wants

Any thoughts on the door super? I've seen some interesting usage here and there but I'm too new to tell if it's _actually_ useful. I feel like giving her all these tools to dodge/armor through stuff but making none of them braindead free is going to be very good game design a month or two from now. The design overall is a huge success, lots of charm and appeal in the "juice" side, mechanically they clearly nailed the feast-or-famine and now it's just a matter of fine tuning it to a better spot. That said, I'd be surprised if she was ever anything above mid tier for high level competitive play. Tournaments are scary enough without having to deal with that normal mode, yeah? 😅

From what I can tell, the Key grab definitely either needs more range or her normals in non-install need to do less pushback. Like, there are plenty of times when ABA gets someone knockdown in the corner while in install, but has to switch because they're about to run out of meter. Why can't regular ABA get just a little pressure without having to worry about whiffing a special after like 2 normals? She's plus after they block key grab, so it seems like it's also suppose to be a pressure tool. But, everybody who's played her whiffs it like half a dozen times per match whether they're trying to combo or pressure.

I think that's intentional. Remember that the key grab is positive on block while also being a massive resource gainer.
