I had a '93 Si in Samba Green: it was the first and last car I ever bought new. I drove the bazoobs out of that car. My daughter and I (in her CAR SEAT!) enjoyed that thing to the hilt. I had it well after she got out of her car seat. I took that all over this fine nation of ours, and it never needed anything except regular oil changes and new tires. My friend's dad owned a local stereo shop, so she upgraded my stereo pretty quickly, and the stereo that was stock wasn't bad. The mileage was stupendous - 30ish mpg and more on the highway, and I'd know I commuted 40 mi RT for the whole time I had it. The trunk was deceptively large, even with the top stowed in the truck. I could fit a MTB w/out tires in a pinch (I had a '70 Chevelle at the same time, so if I was going riding...). I went camping in that thing: pop-up tent, old Coleman cooler, 2 sleeping bags, 2 duffels, never got crowed. I drove through pouring rain on the highway a number of times, and if you kept the windows up, and the rear window open "just so" it stayed dry if you were above 70 - the only water that came in was from the windshield funneling water to the side windows and the air would blow it in a little. I'd leave the top off for weeks on end in the KS summer. If it rained, you could towel the seats off or sit on the towel if you needed to and they'd be dry in short order. So Mrs. W, thinks they're ugly, cheap, and dated - and she's right, but they were functional. The car did tend to create undo ire from some people. I don't know how many times people would just shake their heads or flip a bird at the light - for NO reason. I'd have that car back in a heartbeat. I'm set to retire soon, and I was thinking of building a roached one back into something fun and worth driving again. I traded it after 7 or 8 years, and I only traded it because I got rear-ended. Selling it was a most unpleasant surprise for my daughter: she actually cried, and I've seen that kid cry probably 3 or 4 times in 29 years! I believe I had 163k on the clock when it went away.

I like my rice-up '97. The hood, top, headliner, rollbar cover, trunk, and rear facia are all carbon fiber. The motor is an Acura racing motor that redlines @ 9,000. Stainless braided brake lines, ceramic headers, Skunk 2 throttle body--it RIPS! I kinda wish I'd left the stock aluminum top, cause the carbon weighs almost as much, and when the top's up there's a lot of 'squeaks' going in and out of driveways, etc. It's my 2nd Del Sol--the last one got stolen. I had a blue SI myself glad to see that you guys take such good care of it still and do you have that same color I owned two crx's first and 89 and a 91 Then I purchased the del Sol with very very low miles from the original owner a friend of mine was the beautiful blue that came in with the original blue seats original floor mats with the blue stripe as well I had the d16 z6 like the one in the video I know some pierced would hate me for modifying it at all but unlike most kids that go way overboard and put body kits and stickers and a ridiculous far can't exhaust on it I did not I did it very tastefully I did a very quality cold air intake a very nice header and a very nice quality sounding Cat-Back exhaust some of the best coilovers you could buy lowered it about 2 in and it's some strip bars front and rear and sway bars went through every piece of maintenance top to bottom front to back Everything maintenance wise on the engine top to bottom was done along with suspension front to back at my shop Course I would have loved a b16 model they were the rarest but the SI with a simple cold air intake header and full exhaust really wakes up these d16 z6s it actually was fairly quick and surprised a lot of people who had integras and other cars with bigger engines that were dual overhead cam instead of our single cam Anyways glad to see you still take care of it and still have it unfortunately mine was Pink by a stupid uninsured driver and totaled I then bought a 1995 Honda Civic Coupe that I've had for about 10 years and rebuilt from the ground up also own a very very rare only one of 500 ever made 2004 Honda Accord V6 6-speed coupe with the hfp Honda factory performance kit

Thanks Car Wizard, thanks a lot; I had this same year and trim model in '95, only it was in white! After about a year of ownership, the windshield weatherstripping at the top came off flopping against the taga top. I contacted my local Honda dealership and had it replaced. Years later it was a known thing that the adhesive that was used would become brittle and separate. I'm guessing the wind constantly blowing against the lip of the seal made it finally come off. I sold the car with 127k and nothing else was ever wrong with the car. 5-speed was perfect and it was perfect in snow without any snow tires. I'm in tears now......

The coloured dots on the tire wall indicate where the tire should line up with the Schrader valve so You can perfectly balance the tire. Someone who put them on the rims probably had no clue. Btw, the floor mats are factory - "Del Sol" means "with sun" so that's why the stitching on them are so funny soloured.

@@garyr7027 Yes, those tires may be new, but they're cheap. For such a nice car, in such amazing condition, I would spent a bit more for better quality tires like Michelin or BF Goodrich, though I suspect those small tire sizes are getting hard to find, so you might have to settle for whatever is available, even if it's cheap tires if you wan to keep the stock size.

a VTEC was 20k new. This is a S or something so it was closer to 14k new. There are tons of S and Si's and VTECs in good condition are rare as hell and worth 2-3X what a S or Si is. Good condition Si's go for around 14,000 today. This one has really low miles so if tis a Si then maybe 18 is justified but it's not a VTEC.

Nice car. There's a lot of things that should be done to a twenty-six year old car like that to have it in best condition even though it has low mileage and it is a Honda. I'd recommend: Check condition of the radiator, pressure test the cooling system, replace the thermostat and upgrade coolant to blue HOAT. Should change the timing belt and accessory belts. Replace the fuel filter. Drain and fill the manual transmission fluid. Change oil and oil filter. Check engine air filter. Bleed the brake fluid and clutch fluid. If all those items have been serviced already then that's great.

I had one for a while I got from my brother's friend for cheap. Fun little car. The top tends to have an annoying squeak when you drive because it is removable. Rolling down the back window and removing the top makes it basically a convertible with a roll bar. Definitely one of the coolest, quirkiest Honda's ever made. As far as the windshield piece: Sometimes finding certain old parts for Honda's requires junkyard searching. There are still a few Del Sol's showing up at the wreckers but not many. Might be the best bet if it isn't on eBay.

I bought a brand new 1995 B-16 engine VTEC del Sol in 1996 and drove it til it was stolen with 77,000 mi. It was a snot, lots of fun, required premium fuel. I replaced it with a MBZ 300SL. Not nearly as enjoyable but it did look more serious. Two years ago I found a ‘95 cypress green SI auto with 35K miles on EBay, no reserve. I was the first to bid $5000 opening bid and no one bid against me so I won the auction. It now has 42K miles and gets ~35 mpg on regular. I’m 6’3” and fit into it quite comfortably. I have an anti theft device on this one.

I had a 94. It was a d engine with a 5 speed. Super fun to drive. One day the battery light came on and it was running like crap. I was about 15 miles from home and turned around. Got home noticed all of the belts were off of the pulleys. I was super lucky I made it home without the battery dying. Turns out the crank pulley bolt worked itself out, and it took a huge chunk out of the timing cover. All of the splines on the crank were worn away from the pulley being lopsided on it. Bought it in 2015 for 1200. Died on me in 2018 and I sold it as a parts car for 600. Guy put a new engine in it and still drives it to this day. Loved that car. Loved taking the top off and the back window down on summer night with my numerous girlfriends. I had a mercedes E55 at the time and I preferred the del sol just because it handled well and the 5 speed mske it a blast to drive.

My wife had one of those, called a CRX-VTEC-R in the UK. Amazingly reliable for what amounted to a race engine with over 100BHP/litre. The only problem was an appetite for headlight bulbs which were unobtainable in the UK (it was a Japanese import), so I had to modify the base of H4 bulbs with a Dremel tool. The roof goes squeaky so the sealing rubbers should be lubricated with Shin Etsu Honda silicone grease.

Even has the original Ziebart (undercoating) sticker on the rear window. Drove it yesterday with Fleetwood Mac playing on the new Alpine head unit and floor mounted subwoofer. Almost sold it once. Buyer came with check in hand to pick it up but I told him I changed my mind. Keeping it forever!

I have been looking at 8th gen Civic Si's lately (06-11) and they are ALL DESTROYED or modified terribly....When I had mine new in 2007, I didnt touch it. Just enjoyed it how it was! I wish I never sold it. It's sad these old Hondas, which are such great cars, through and through, have been destroyed, Not to mention, Everyone wants over $15K for a Civic Si with over 150K miles, major mods including suspension, ECU tunes, etc and expect people to pay it! These vehicles were $4500 all day at one point...Shame...

Also if that is a 95, its not 1.5. its a d16z6 1.6 liter :P The Delsol had 3 models. Delsol S (115 hp), Delsol Si (126hp) and Delsol vtec(160hp). The S had a 1.5 non vtec d15, the si had the 1.6 vtec and then the "vtec" model had a 1.6 twin cam b16a3. Also ALso lol The floor mats are factory floor mats and not "custom". I've had a 93 MR2 Turbo and a 93 del Sol Si, and had way more fun and less stress in the del Sol. That curved rear window tends to fog up easily with the engine in the back. No such problems with the del Sol since you can always roll down the rear window. I didn't have to worry about premium fuel, cooling off the turbo, or snap oversteer. On 17's the car felt like it was on rails.

Most people don't look after their stuff... I'd say that most people clean their car interior once or twice a year (if not never), many rely on the rain to clean the outside. What's great is, the person who buys this won't be a dirtbag as noted above. They'll pay the extra because they appreciate the condition, and will respect what the previous owner committed to.
@DjStiv3
@DjStiv3 2 жыл бұрын
But... those new owners are rare as all hell that want to buy. Noone wants to pay the extra. And the real car people too dont want to, unless theyre going to act as a scalper and relist for far more. Its a needle in a haystack to find the car, pay a decent price, or to find someone willing to.
