A Valediction of Forbidden Mourning by John Donne in Tamil / Bharath Ravindran / Bharath Academy. People of high moral standard do not afraid of death. They speak softly to their souls to leave the body. So the poets tells his beloved not to mourn or shed tears when he is forced to spend time apart from her. The mourning and weeping disclose their love to the common laymen. The love of common men is confined to their senses. They can not endure the absence of the object of their love. But the love of the poet and his beloved is spiritual and refined. Their souls have fused into one by love. His absence would not make any break in their love. They are the two foots of the compass. The soul of the beloved is like the fixed foot of the compass. It does not move itself. It is made to move when the moving leg (the soul of the lover) moves.
