When we were kids I'll bet lots of us imagined these spaces to be a symbol of security. You were going to grow up and probably work in one of these.. you didn't exactly know what went on in them at the time, but once you did, it would mean you're an "adult" and you're 'done' now. You can work and get money. And somehow that would solve everything. It really is nostalgia for something that never existed; maybe only as a product in the mind. I'm not really missing office spaces (which I'm sitting in right now). I'm missing the pure-hearted assumption that I'd be okay by now. That this would feel like the "place" where I am supposed to be.

Have the exact same experiential memories of being a little kid and having my parents drive me up to the high school that i'd be going to and feeling at awe at the somewhat alienating size of it, now all that's come and gone. Sometimes I wish I could go back to when adult life was a distant and foggy dream again

If you think about it a lot of the movies from 1980-2005 were all riddled with high rise office workers being main protagonists. We all saw how much we wanted to live like some who portrayed the lavish and futuristic side of it and how much we wanted to stay far away from but knew inevitably if bad choices were made in the near future we would wind up there miserable. Funny what we make up in our heads as we’re younger. Trying to understand something you really don’t know anything about and won’t for some years.

For ages these office spaces were considered existential hellscapes. Entire novels and films were made all about it. These days they're the object of nostalgia. That's a doozie of an indictment on the years in between. The old hell is the new home.

Ngl, I miss the beige-ness of offices. I remember going to my dad's office when I was a kid for bring your kid to work day and it felt so cozy with the beige and paperwork and electronic all over the desks. If modern computers were more colorful then I wouldn't mind the difference, but it's all just basic modern designs

This is hella upbeat for office music. The bouncy, chill swaying beats, dat sax and jazzy chops, rocky guitar licks. Thick and groovy kicks, slapping strings. Ah yes, I hear the music of the hyperspace offices, descending into a black hole, working overtime to sort information and make a dime into a buck. Only the slickest posthumans are calling the time bent phones off the hook and investing in blackhole coin. The atmosphere is chill, frosty and groovy, as efficiency is the currency itself. If you look at the top right side left of the copies, it tells you everything you need to you. It's not just the goldenrod copy. You have to take the pink copy, blue copy, mint copy, and white copy all to their proper departure files.
