The dalek took his time decorating the tree because he didn't want to burn down some random plant, he wanted to burn down the symbol of Christmas :D

I was expecting and rather hoping that after decorating the tree, Santa Claws would come down the chimney saying "Ho ho ho, marry Christmas" The Dalek would turn around and fire at him before turning to finnish decorating the tree.

Um, I'm pretty sure they have a different culture from ours. If anything, all that the Daleks would celebrate (if they're not the ones rebelling against him) is Davros' birthday because without him, they Daleks would've never been born

They can swap out their two... Devices which most people just refer to them as 'Gun and Plunger' or arms.... Anyway, yeah, they can swap them out for different things, perhaps that's how? And once... Actually nope, you're right, it makes pretty much no-sense.

I would guess (from a whovian's perspective) that that since Daleks are really a sort of squid like creature in a suit of armour that they would switch into a suit that would help for building. Another guess is that they use other life forms such as in a few of episodes of a series the Daleks used a child to make things and to think of ideas to make the Daleks stronger.

Brilliantly done! Reminds me of a scene in the Boris Karloff film "The Old Dark House" where a spooky character, standing with some blooms and a vase says "I was just arranging these flowers" and then throws them on the fire. So off the wall it made me laugh.

The redemption of the Daleks was set in motion by the Twelfth Doctor in "Witches Familiar" when he saved the young Davros from the Hand Mine field on Skaros during the height of the Thousand Years War. By showing the young Davros the importance of mercy and keeping a promise, the Twelfth Doctor created a deep and lasting positive impression on him, which subsequently fundamentally changed not only Dalek history, but the history of the Kaled and Thal peoples on Skaros.
