Before Zach Galligan starred in the two best movies ever made in the history of cinema, battling mischievous green monsters-------he had to deal with something far more dangerous and devastating-----VD!
The fact is that Gremlins is fictitious, those party animal monsters don't exist in real life----but gonorrhea is very real!!!
In this 1982 TV special, Galligan plays a teen whose girlfriend gets the clap----and then unfortunately infects him. I had actually never heard of this program until June 14, 1990 -----(coincidentally the day before Gremlins 2 was to open nationwide lol), when I was in 8th grade and my sex education teacher, Ms. Kris Thompson, put this film on for the class.
I had not seen it since then, and just recently I was lucky to find a copy of the program, because it is nearly impossible to find these days!
Here is the cautionary tale for everyone to see now for your viewing pleasure...
PLEASE NOTE: Absolutely no copyright infringement intended, I am NOT posting this for any type of monetary gain whatsoever, just thought people might enjoy seeing it.

Nowadays, people act like animals. They have apps to search for a wham bam, when the urge hits. It's abhorrent. I really have no room to talk, however, If I knew then, what I know now, I would have saved myself for my second husband. I honestly wish I had listened to my parents. They tried to teach me to love myself and to not throw my pearls to swine.

Larry did not know he had gonorrhea because he didn't have any symptoms but usually there are no symptoms. Gonorrhea is curable but it is important that once you find out that you have it, that you get treatment right away! And you have to inform anyone you've had sex with because they need to get treatment too. If left untreated, gonorrhea can cause permanent damage to the eyes, joints, heart and brain. It can also make both men and women infertile, unable to have children. It is important that Kris tell Greg right away because gonorrhea DOES NOT go away by itself! The only way to get rid of it is to get treatment. I know she's afraid to tell him but it's not going to get any easier if she waits. The longer she waits, the worse it'll get. She knows he'll be upset with her but that's nothing compared to the trouble she'll be in if she doesn't tell him.

Yeah, but it's still a serious issue. Any person would be angry if their supposed significant other had slept with another person and given them an STD. And then, instead of coming clean, they just keep putting it off and trying to avoid coming in contact with them. It would be a HUGE betrayal ... and you could be putting their life on the line. Some STDs aren't able to be cured and can even be fatal.

AutumnEmerald 101 I remember long ago, someone got a VD because he was cheating on his wife because she was unable at the time because she was sick. When she was better and able to but still delicate, he gave it to her and it was a death sentence.

A couple thoughts...1) He ghosted her before and accuses her of cheating when he walks back into her life? 😡 2) STDs are a part of life...the more you shame people about it the less likely they are to be honest with you. Treating it as a moral failure doesn't help.
@autumnemerald1019
@autumnemerald1019 4 жыл бұрын
Well, sleeping around IS against many beliefs ... but even putting morals aside, I think that ANY person would feel angry and betrayed if their supposed significant other slept with somebody else and then gave them an STD. Some STDs can't be cured and can even be fatal. They're a SERIOUS issue and NOT something that should be taken lightly.

Right. Don't shame people for indiscriminately sleeping around and spreading STDs. There's a reason people get those diseases. If you don't sleep around, it's far less likely you'll ever contract one.

just a thought I know just a silly after school show but think she plays the hurt girlfriend so she revenged sexed her boyfriend..Sure the boyfriend did wrong yet he was faithful and was working through issues,funny they get back together and walking on the beach and he tells her the truth he went out with his buddy and he brought a extra girl so she lets go of his hand and walks away all hurt until he tells her I kept bringing you up..So here is the thought would she have told him what she did if she did not have the STD, I don't think so she would have kept on the act of poor me all the while knowing she was no angel as though she did nothing wrong....

All summer long this girl waits to hear from her first serious relationship & this special guy never responds to her. Even when she comes home, he shows up unannounced & expects to pick up from where they left off. He deserted her! He goes on & on about how much he loves her & missed her, but left her hanging while she worked a summer job. She did try to tell him about the guy she slept with, but that never happened. Then the rest of the movie is focused on her & what a bad person she is. How she let him down. The fact that he let her down is looked over. That part bothered me. I just feel like there was a better way for a "psa" movie to be written without shame or one sex being the villain. Glad there is more public info, clinics, communication. Condom programs are free & accessible now. It is common knowledge & more important than ever to use condoms, not just for pregency protection, but disease as well.
