@@reiw5802I’ll provide you an honest answer for this as well. Fees increase every year, normally by ~£50 - £100 a term ish. I do complain, a lot. The last two have been painful due to energy costs and stretched it pretty tight. But they have to account for the cost of living as well. Unlike the state sector (shamefully), they do pay their teachers appropriately and I assume give them inflation based raises as well. Everyone seems to assume that if you can afford private education, you can afford anything, as if it’s some kind of magical barrier that once passed, money is infinite. That’s like me assuming you can afford a Volvo SUV just because you bought a Tucson SUV. Everyone has limits.

You dont get many young family Tory voters. You might find many of the Tory voters (like my sister's family ) are now at an age where their kids have just left school so this policy will bother them less than you think. Many people (again like sister's family) had already found they couldn't afford to send all their children to private school because of the Tory impact on the economy. They understand the value of better State schooling. At the end of the day why on earth shouldn't those schools pay VAT it is a business like any other. It is ridiculous that they have gotten away with it for so long.

Yep. I think it’s only like 7% of school pupils attend a private school- yet those privately educated make up a disproportionate amount of people in a lot of careers. 65% of senior judges are privately educated, 59% of civil service are too, 57% of the House of Lords member were (no real surprise there), 52% of diplomats, 44% of newspaper journalists (51% of journalists in general were), 44% of top actors, 39% of cabinet members and 30% of top musicians including some surprising ones- Radiohead met at the private school they attended. Members of Coldplay and the Clash were also privately educated. Like you say it’s the connections you can make at private schools that get people places. Great example, actress Carey Mulligan. She attended a private school in Surrey. They had esteemed actor Julian Fellowes as a guest lecturer talking about film production. She expressed an interest in becoming an actor to him and his wife invited her to a dinner with the Fellowes’ and other young aspiring actors. At the dinner she met a casting assistant who was working on the production of 2005’s Pride and Prejudice which led to her being cast in the film….had she not attended that private school it’s hard to believe, however talented she maybe, that she would have gotten as far as she did. 🤔🤷😂

£1.20bn ‘not that much’? The VAT raised will be £1.7bn. There are £3bn more tax breaks they could go after. The two child cap was maintained in both of Corbyn’s manifestos. Nick Ferrari is a Tory. Natasha Clark is a Tory. I trust that when Rishi Sunak is being interviewed he will be on the receiving end of the exact same kind of treatment from the pair of them. With Ferrari interrupting and making condescending remarks every five seconds and Clark pulling apart every syllable from what Sunak says in order to pull them down and sow doubt in the minds of voters. Because if neither of them do that with Sunak... Well, we know who is paying their wages.
