I found it hilarious that James said he's seen this movie so many times because he was a teacher, since the only reason I've seen it so many times is because they played it in my class 3 years in a row.

I guarantee it looks better in your head. I know it was early days for this kind of animation, but the movie exists entirely in the uncanny valley. It is nightmare fuel.

Merry Christmas everyone! Quick fun fact, did you know that original script for the movie involved a magical train that would travel through night each Christmas to harvest some blue stuff, leading to the original working title of the film to be "Rodney!". So interesting

I'm on a strong dose of legal Canadian cannabis edibles to ring in my eve of Christmas morning. All is normal on a screen when I dip out to brew a delicious pot of coffee from my Netherlands made Moccamaster drip brewer. I get lost in the aroma of the grinding beans. I settle into the comforting process of filling the reservoir. My expectations of this delicious experience rise to a crescendo... To turn back to the TV to see a nightmare boi at eye level trying to obtain his first soul. I laughed for a hella long time. Haven't you done well editors, haven't you done well ;b

I watch this film every Christmas. I accept its flaws but it has always been my quintessential Christmas film (and the soundtrack is also incredible, Alan Silvestri just captures the Christmas sound for me perfectly). Watched it last night, and now I’ve got to watch it again with the boyssss! Edit: wrong composer haha

The ambiance in this movie is awesome. It gets quite loud sometimes, but it also goes really quiet. I love the kids running around the North Pole, you know when you see a movie really late at the shopping mall, and when it's over you have to make your way out past the deserted corridors and closed stores and it's unusually silent, not at all the way it looked when you arrived? It's got those vibes.

no, i'll tell you what it is. basically anytime the movie focuses on something that isn't the uncanny humans, its good. because everything else, the effects, the snow, the animals, the dynamic shots, the train itself, are all phenomenal and then you get to the humans....and it all falls apart.

Christmas. Not, ‘tHe HoLiDaYs’. It’s Christmas. Today is Christmas. Yes, there are other holidays, doesn’t matter. Doesn’t change the fact that today is Christmas. Someone celebrating Hanukkah or Eid or any other holiday, will never change the fact that this is Christmas time. Keep your murican bs in the states ya pansy.

Normally have these playing on my phone and don't look at them- this time I cast it to my tv as I wrapped presents, turned at one point to see that bespectacled leviathan rising then returning to the accursed pit where he belongs. Very unnerving, 10/10

I saw this as a kid with my Grandma and maybe 3 other people in the cinema on boxing day and loved it. If the films target audience was 6 year olds they succeeded.

If you, like me, don't care much for Polar Express, but watched it again because of this commentary, I highly recommend doing what I just did for fun. Thanks to the boys for the fun fact that this studio and Zemeckis also made BEOWULF. If you want to experience some SEVERE tonal whiplash, watch Beowulf directly after this. The contrast between technological and mature advancement between the two films is nuts. One scene in particular is cool because it's a reused idea from Polar Express, a one take camera shot following something an eagle picks up. But instead of a ticket, we end up following a dead rat to something...horrific. Anyway, watch Beowulf. Highly underrated flick.

This was an awesome and entertaining commentary for this movie , should be on the DVD ! Also enjoyed how the children were harvested to go to the North Pole much like Blue Harvest was the original working title for Star Wars!

I was like 7 when this movie came out and enjoyed it, and it just sort of became a tradition for me to watch every year. I know it's not a *good* movie, but it has a nice place in my heart, so I still make sure to watch it every December.

The book is so good but short because it’s a children’s book. So they had to add a lot of stuff to pad the movie run time. That plus the uncanny valley animation makes the movie less charming for me. But I can respect taking a big swing at a new technology. Thanks for making me laugh so hard this year and best wishes to your team!

I want to say I did see this movie once in the theater with one of those kids get in free with the camp or something, could have even been a Christmas in July sort of thing, I truly don't remember, and I remember nothing from this movie, and I'm still not sure what happened because I was too busy listening to you guys talking about Steven Tyler in an elevator or whatever. Fantastic experience.

Maybe it’s because I grew up when this type of filming was coming into the limelight but I’ve always been able to look at these the way I look at not super well rendered video games but idk I just love this movie for it’s nostalgia so much but past that I just love when an actor or director has a vision and really goes for it so I think this is just a really cool time capsule

Just had “The Christmas Train” pass through my town in Canada, tons of lights! I mean a crap ton of lights and one train car that folded open to a stage with all kinds of fun Christmas tunes and what not but! There was kids on that train… possibly Tom Hanks came through my town? Haha

I watched this at a drive-in double feature. Thank goodness The Incredibles played first, or else the whole evening would've been shot. The only saving grace of this movie was the Mandark kid reminding me of Dexter's Lab.

Do they watch all of the movies on mute with subtitles? I'm pretty sure they didn't with the old commentaries but if they did it was never as obvious how much they miss without the sound as it is on this one.... I just noticed the kid with the glasses😂
