slight correction - Night City is specifically located where present-day Morro Bay, California is, not up by Monterey. The actual Morro Bay itself is filled in, and much of the landscape has been heavily altered by development, but the spaceport is built on top of what was originally Morro Rock (a real landmark). As a reference to this in-game, one of the radio stations is actually called "Morro Rock."

Silverhand reappearing for this DLC was honestly a surprising twist, seeing as it seemed they were doing a obvious set up to shut down Silverhand in Dog Town so they didn't need to pay Reeves.

The only real problem I have with Phantom Liberty's story is that all the major players are either the President of the New United States, or the Cyberpunk equivalent of CIA spooks. This means I didn't trust any of them. Reed could have given V one of his kidneys and I still would have been waiting for him to pop me in the back of the head or the kidney to turn out to be a plastic explosive. I think CDPR knew this on some level and that's why they made Johnny go to bat for him as hard as he does, despite Reed being a diehard representative of what amounts to a high caliber, soul stealing, civilization crushing corporation. Johnny has to act as some kind of tempering force to see more of the man that Reed is and less of a destabilizer of nations CIA agent, but I was so far gone that I just though he was acting crazy for even considering it. I ended up going with Songbird, the first time around, because she seemed the furthest removed from the NUSA. I sniffed that things weren't going to work out for V from the beginning, based on how cagey she was being, but figured I'd help her out anyway.

Great summary and review. Quick correction, Bartmoss broke the internet when he got pinched by corpos and released the virus purposely before getting zeroed as a sort of FU to the world that betrayed him. This released the rogue AIs to the internet and Blackwall was created afterwards to section them off from the human world.

Visually all the characters seem human and life like even random npcs who you can walk by and listen into their private convos, they feel actually alive. Contrast that with starfields creepy NPCs with constant unerving stares only saying things that revolve around the player, it just feels like fallout with a reskin. Hell even same weapon types in essence.

It's easy to think that President Myers doesn't care about So Mi but I think she actually cares about her in her own way, she just cares more about the results So Mi's interaction with the blackwall is giving her. Sure she gave her the best chrome and made sure So Mi wanted for nothing and maybe she sees that as enough to justify what she was doing to her. Just a shame that Myers would always be a Politician first before anything else.

Great vid! Earned a subscriber. Small detail that most miss: The Blackwall actually IS an AI itself. Factions like NUSA, Arasaka, and Militech are all trying to exploit this AI to their own ends which i think sets up a potential plot in the next game. That plot being an AI invasion of real space when/if the Blackwall decides to go rogue.

Currently making a melee/shotgun netrunner build. I use cheap debuff hacks to jam weapons or force enemies in place, then dash up and coup de gras them. It really mixes up the passive and boring camera hack playstyle.

A cool, missable detail about the plane crash scene is that you can actually see the escape pod with Songbird inside eject to the left just before the plane crashes. I didn’t notice it my first couple playthroughs. It’s the little details like that which makes Phantom Liberty so great.

I love the part where you said you attend Hanson’s funeral but then a few minutes later as you get into the black sapphire to meet songbird Hanson is still alive. Completely KILLED this review and explanation for me, if you are going to do a review/explanation on a linear story you should try to keep it in order.

I think the outcome and the missions you get for capturing songbird are more badass and crazy instead of siding with her...this Blackwall demon robot gave me that metal gear vibe..the hansen fight was badass...the maxtac fight was badass...the outcome for sticking with reed is better...i kill songbird instead because thats what she wanted freedom and there is no way in hell i was going to let myers use her again as a slave

Hey, you're a new youtuber so this is just a tip for anything you make in the future; De-essing your audio is really important, there's multiple times in the first 2 minutes where your "S" sounds absolutely cut through and are really uncomfortable to listen to. If you don't have a pop-filter I'd recommend you get one as well, though your plosives aren't nearly as bad.

I have a PC that's *barely* capable of running 2077. Yet it keeps it going at 30fps except for a few weird moments.

You know V still can have interface implants. They could be a mecha pilot.

16:38 That "glitch" causing your framerate to drop is a lack of VRAM and your PC trying its damndest to make some space and swap assets. I get the same issue with a RX 6600 after ~2 hours of play.

they optimized the game a lot im on a i9 10900kf 4060ti oc 16gb 64gb ram 3200 and i have everything on max (except path tracing) on 1080 and i play with 130 fps(the benchmark result too) im also using mods that enhance the look of the game (lighting,textures,reshade,etc) to make the game better

Its not expected at the release but still unique. I like since day 1 because pre ordered. Raining night atmosphere just majestic. Envirnoment catch thumbs up and clap. An they do environment dlc like the witcher 3 blood and wine someday.

This expansion was at its peak for me when it embraced the spy-thriller aspect: saving the president, infiltrating the blue sapphire, impersonating the twins. That all felt tense and exciting and the script made it superbly enganging. I didn't trust Reed a single bit so I decided to help out Songbird, which, in hindsight, was a mistake. I did not care for her and honestly wished that the story rather ended with some high concept stakes (like preventing a war between the NUSA and NC, or something other spy/politics related narrative), not with the personal drama of saving a life.

You sadly cannot romance her, so my down-badness cannot be fulfilled in game. Love the video though, and besides the fact that I ignored every spoiler warning and now know the entire plot of Phantom Liberty, I can’t wait to play it.

I dont enjoy the lose your relic and cyberware and relations ending. V definitely got the short end of the stick and the narrative leads you on to believe that the surgery will be no big deal. Its smarter to wait on the cure and pursue other leads on the suspicion that the surgery may not go well and take the great "the star" ending
