This has to be the horticultural equivalent of looking through Elizabeth Taylor's jewelry box! John and Fred have really created something spectacular. Thank you for letting us take a peek inside.

What a delightful raconteur!!! He is one of those people you want to meet and talk to for hours. What he and his sweet husband have done in recreating this Victorian conservatory is unbelievable. I hope he puts in place a way for future generations to enjoy it. It is Indeed a legacy of love. Well done sir💚 and I wish I could visit.

I love that he spoke of how back when these were so hard to get that they were of course much more treasured. It’s sad that because of our ability to so readily get them today society just buys them up without any regard to actually trying to appreciate them and hold sacred keeping them alive. In fact we can buy our top wishlist plant and rather then bask in having that for a period of time and truly treasure it, we are on to buying the next and allowing it to die because we are more focused on accumulation of what others have or even what very few have. I would love to see a shift to valuing each plant you have acquired. I hope that at some point the hobby slides into really treasuring the ones we have, nurturing them individually to our best capability, and seeing the value in each and accepting if we are not capable of caring for the individual not just allowing it to die but passing it along to someone who can insure it’s survival.

Wonderful, a great representation of the Victorian era, with 2 delightful caretakers! Please...someone do a complete video of all the plants they have, there were glimpses of things I would have loved to see better and hear about. And oh my, that gorgeous Minton jardinaire.....smaller plant ASAP needed! Thank you to you all, this was great! 🤗🌿🌱🌵💕

This took me back to my childhood! In the early 70’s we had an old conservatory in my backyard that daddy rebuilt from an torn down one. It had so many beautiful plants just like John and Fred’s. I remember as a kid admiring all the Home & Garden magazines daddy had and day dreaming about having a house one day like them! lol We even had a room in the house with a big bay window that daddy had filled with all sorts of plants! Sadly daddy’s no longer with us but this was such a joy seeing! Thank you!

Such an amazing conservatory! I love the unique and wonderful plants that John and Fred have accumulated. The history of some of those plants is fascinating!! Thank you for this wonderful tour. It’s not feeling like spring quite yet in Michigan, and it was so good seeing such a lush green place right now!

I just love the jungle look and feel inside this greenhouse! Wonderful stories and growing/propagating tips. The tree is amazing and bromeliads are some of my favorite plants. With all the focus on everything but the Crotons, I have to say that they gave me lots of pleasure to look at, bright color and a good size. The whole greenhouse inside and out is magnificent! Thanks to John and Fred for letting you in!!

ok I loved this! If I may be cheeky and add a little bit of (hopefully constructive!) criticism: definitely be as aware as possible of different people's style of communicating when you do these plant tours! Some people are more conversational, but John definitely strikes me as more of a 'presenter' and I kept noticing how often he was interrupted when he was trying to talk about his house and plants. Overall great tour though, I just couldn't help but wish he would get to talk even more.

I'm glad he also has aspidistra under his faux tree. Its one of my favorites because it was also very popular in Victorian times due to its hardiness in low light home conditions. It was also somehow able to survive in the gas-lit homes of the era.

It has been just two days I have accidentally found your channel. I worked in Agri Horticultural Society of India at Kolkata for a couple of years. The horticulture society was founded by Sir William Carey in 1820.; during the British era in India. My love for plants became more concreted since then. I got an opportunity to see and look many rare plants. I used to miss that place. Your channel gave me back that excitement which I used to enjoy that time.
