Even though I was pretty sure that you had a C1 in chest, I never 100% knew for a fact, that you have it. It sounds incredible! You know you got it, when A1 sounds a high note in your register. Every time I listen to you, I only have one word in my mind: "crazy". I know you and your voice for many years, but it still has the same effect, as when I first heard your voice. And I usually get used to things pretty quickly. Thank you for your content and spreading the bass singing world out there!

Being naturally deep is one thing. I find mastering the techniques to balance your vocal registers so much more impressive than just being born with a deep voice. I wish I was born with a voice like this, my chest range is like "you wanna go lower than D2? Not with me, cowboy" and you go like "C1? Easy". You are a role model of mine not just because of your biology but because of your crazy technique mastery. Its just more than only hitting deep notes. Thanks for all this amazing stuff dude❤

Thanks and thank you for noticing. 👊🏾

As I always say, you are a great example and inspiration for all basses, that as long as you practice and try to expand your range, there's no such thing as "Oh I'm a bass, so I can only sing up to C4". A voice type isn't a limitation, our minds are!
@thatbassvoice Жыл бұрын
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
@xfrostyresonance8614 Жыл бұрын
Being able to only sing up to C4 in CHEST voice is a genuine limitation for some basses, like myself. But you're just not putting the effort in if you don't have a good tone in your high registers above that. I can keep decent falsetto tone up to C6, but the least all basses should aim for is C5. Helps with your low range too anyways since you master more control over your muscles.
@MultiKamil97 Жыл бұрын
@@xfrostyresonance8614 That's true. One of the most common things that voice teachers say, is that working on your higher register helps with strenghtening your lower register.
@bradycall188911 ай бұрын
And also, many classically trained basses can go above C4 in chest voice just fine. It may take more practice than, let's say, a baritone or a tenor to go above something like a C4 in chest voice, but it's not impossible for a bass to do.
@MultiKamil9711 ай бұрын
@@bradycall1889 Of course, C4 isn't a high note even for a bass but some people who have a bass voice somehow claim to not be able to sing it or above it. It speaks more about their small vocal range or technique, rather than about their voice type.

@bradycall188911 ай бұрын
I guess this is just a random thought of mine, but I think that contemporary bass singers these days are all singing the exact same stuff and in the same style most of the time. I'm not talking about you specifically, Mr. Holloway, but contemporary bass singers younger than 25 in general are very generic most of the time. That's why I moved on from those contemporary bass singers and moved on to operatic basses and basses within choir (such as Russian oktavists for example). They usually seem to only care about their lower notes, they sing in a way that isn't particularly unique, and they are always singing the exact same songs. They are almost always singing The Sound of Silence, Misty Mountains Cold, Sixteen Tons, and more and they rarely do anything ordinary or different from the average population. I do think, however, that you're unique because you do more than the songs that are just trending.
@thatbassvoice11 ай бұрын
I appreciate you noticing. It's always been my goal to show that a deep voice can do so much more than the few expected songs so many are used to hearing from a BASS. If you look back on my KZfaq journey, you'll see that I've been more of a trend setter than a trend follower ...like when I sang Nessun Dorma years ago. Being a "different" BASS singer can still be recognized in my videos to this day. If I do seem to "jump on the bandwagon" sometimes, it's only because so many have requested to hear me on the track, and certainly NOT because others have done so. I hope you keep listening, because I've got plenty of unique treats in the works. 👊🏾

My vocal range is absurdly small, even after singing for over 7 years. Only d2 to c4. It's something I have troubles with, to the point that I broke down in choir class because middle c, the note that every singer is supposed to be able to reach, made my voice hurt after only half a minute and was a stretch to even sing. Watching you makes me wonder, how maybe one day, when I get older, my voice might actually leave puberty and give me an at least half decent range, but given the fact that I'm 19 with a full beard and my voice hasn't changed in 5 years, I'm unfortunately doubtful.

E1 is the lowest note on a standard double bass or bass guitar, so with a C1, he's singing four semitones lower than a normal bass. some orchestral double basses however have an added-on fingerboard extension extending through or over the scroll to give one or multiple string extension options down to C1. and some other dluble basses have a fifth even lower string, tuned to C1 or the B below. full-size double basses (which nobody outside of orchestras uses, the 3/4 size is otherwise standard) do of course produce a much fuller tone down there than this guy, but even they more often than not audibly struggle, and they're using more than a bathtub's worth of internal air volume and a ~4mm thick 1m long string (it takes way more energy for low frequencies to be as audible as high ones). I'd say he only starts sounding good around A1, or maybe G#1 though. on the lowest notes here, practically all he's qble to do is to pulse a cracking noice at the right frequency, he's not producing fundamental sine waves at an audible volume.
