Porto is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe! I had the pleasure of visiting about 5 years ago and stayed at charming "boat hotel" on the river Douro where the sunsets and sunrises on the water were stunning. Thank you for reminding me of this magical places, and for adding in all kinds of tidbits I missed the first time around. You two are fabulous guides!

I have visited many countries and cities over the years and I have to say without any reservation that Porto is at the very top. Not #2 not #3 but the absolute #1. I simply cannot find any other combination of beauty, culture, weather, food, safety, people as in Porto. Just absolutely mind-boggling

If anyone goes to Porto please take time to go on the scenic train from Porto up the Douro river to Picinho . We went on a Sunday when you get longer at this station. There isn’t a lot to see & we wondered what we were going to do, but we ended up going to a local restaurant that the Train driver & conductor went into for Sunday lunch . It was very Portuguese/ authentic & quite cheap for one of the best meals we had in Porto😊 . Also, the Sao Bento station is beautiful with the blue tiles . Not sure whether Oliver & Stephanie will show anymore of Porto in another vlog ?

I stayed in Porto in 1980 for work and on arrival at the hotel my boss made me choose between the two room keys and I got a lovely suite with air conditioning and huge bath. Next day my boss didn't appear at breakfast so I had to get the concierge open his door and he appeared looking dreadful, he didn't get any sleep, the room was tiny and there was no air condtioning and the windows didn't open ! His assistant had booked me that room and my room of course was his! I will never forget the Porto cellars, so cool and tasting the different years and then going outside to 40° heat and falling flat on my face !

Thank you so much, I will have a special thought goung through my head now when I next eat a Custard Tart....invented by Monks in the 13 centuary, who would have known that. 💕🇦🇺

A very well researched and charming video about a great city. Stephanie, consider wearing comfortable low heel lace up shoes, like simple flat trainers or similar lace ups, which cushion and support your feet instead of those unhealthy pointy shoes which make you scrunch up your feet with every footstep and are definitely bad for your hips. Comfort before style on any longer walk will save you a lot of pain, including on you morning walk back home !

Loved the episode and found some more info: The art of mosaic originated in the Middle East and the earliest surviving example can be dated to Sumeria in 3500 B.C. Greeks and Romans excelled in floor and pavement mosaics made up of coloured marble cubes set against a light background. Roman floor mosaics still exist throughout the Mediterranean world.

When you see those beautiful doorways locked up with a chain and padlock you can often see daylight through the crack in the door. Portugal was very poor until recently and now many of those lovely old gutted buildings are being renovated inside...there are cranes all over Lisbon and Porto fixing up those interiors. Everyone should visit to see the gorgeous faded glory before it's all cleaned up and made new. It's incredibly beautiful.

I wish you could visit Madeira island. It’s extremely beautiful and very welcoming. Many historical sites, delicious food, beaches, levadas and ancient trees. Very loved by our British friends and many other countries. Winston Churchill visited a few times, and they built a statue to honour him in front of is favourite café in camera de lobos. Margaret Thatcher also visited Madeira and its Cristiano Ronaldo home. There is many hidden spots that many tourists don’t know and the uk agencies don’t advertise that I wish people would see.
