A waterfall, easy ascent & great views: Is Mellbreak an overlooked gem?

Whilst it definitely isn't a rugged, majestic crag in anyone's book, this little fell certainly delivered in terms of views & seclusion, with sunshine joining in!
We even had a look at Scale Force, usually overlooked by us while on bigger fells, we decided that sometimes, size isn't everything but Mellbreak certainly delivered
Views that make you go wow, and a gradual grassy ascent that's easier on the knees than it's nearby siblings..
a change in the weather created an opportunity to enjoy the secluded paths of Mellbreak & the Loweswater end of the valley

Glorious views and Mellbreak will be one of the first I do this season, as soon as I get the weather you guys got. Everyone seems to park at Loweswater and do a loop but I do not fancy that descent, so I hope to park at Buttermere and do an out and back, as it looks a more civilised way to the proper Wainwright summit and with all the bog, I am not bothered about the second summit. Great views on this one, cheers Alan

Thanks for watching Alan, I'd say yes, park at buttermere, get to first summit, actually enjoy the route & then head home the way you came: safer, more enjoyable. I hope you have the weather that we had! There's not much to the 2nd summit other than a bog between but it's a nice fell & great views!!
