Hey, just some food for thought. One reason you would want a heavier gimbal is that heavier equipment bounces around less. You'll get smoother footage in more extreme situations than with a lighter set up! It takes more force to move something heavy. It helps balance the fact you're holding on average, a lighter DSLR.

Matt I have the Weebil-S but it always seems like it's underpowered for my BMPCC 6K and because of the form factor and distribution of weight I have to use a counterweight 🙄. Your review was really helpful for considering upgrading to this gimbal and the price seems right.

Worse thing for me about this gimbal is how the removable plate always covered my battery door... which makes taking your camera on and off the gimbal quickly without having to rebalance pretty useless if you had to simply change a battery...I now have the dji rs2

Love this guy's reviews. However, I think this one is a bit unfair as I don't think this gimbal is meant for weddings at all. Not if you're planning to gimbal most of the day. Wedding shooters travel pretty light usually (I did) and therefore the less powerful gimbals are fine. Would have loved to know Matt's thoughts on using this for a commercial shoot where you only need to use it a few times....

I have bought this and returned 2nd day I have zhiyun crane 2 and I was happy to upgrade as it was advertised on social media. But my feedback is, this gamble is not for wedding videographer because it’s so heavy and you can’t hold it for whole event. Twisting camera down and handed up is mission in this as you can only flip from right side and left side is lock. When camera is down and handle is up moving camera face up is limited to 50% you can’t turn full lens face up to get low angle shoot. If you have zhiyun crane 2 I would say stuck to that you will regret buying this. This might be good for small project like songs video but for wedding no way

Just dropped on here to say I bought the Ronin SC2 - expecting it to arrive next week. I think that thing does all I need. However I think you should lower the arm and try this gimbal with the extra double arm grip - I think using two arms will distribute the weight very well. I saw a wedding guy who already had a crane 2S but then went and bought a Ronin SC2 with his own money and was like - wow - that makes no sense. So I think you are correct - i.e. the weight is a big issue. Also a lot of people are freaking out about the conversion - so I think they should have shipped it at the low angle and advertised that it could be extended... Thanks anyway - Great video.

I really want to be able to switch between Crane and tripod fast and easy, but havent purchased any new tripod yet, because I fear it's not gonna match with the Crane 2 plate. You're not talking about the stabilization in itself. And after having possessed and used Ronin, Ronin M and Ronin S, the Crane 2S is by far the better gimbal I've ever had. Responsive, ultra smooth, no micro shakes, it's doing the job perfectly. DJI gimbals have a better finition, have a more user friendly software and feels sturdier, but I have never been convinced by the results of their gimbals. And the footage is most important thing.

The follow focus is so nice to have though. I have a moza air 2 and that's one of my favorite things about it. This gimbal seems really similar to the air 2, looks good though, except the weight thing is definitely weird.

I shoot real estate. My biggest complaint with this gimble is that you cannot move the motor by hand. If this is part of your workflow coming from the Crane2 this creates a huge problem because it takes soooooo much longer to adjust the camera position with a joystick. And it’s crazy heavy. So I’m “between” gimbles right now. My Crane2 just won’t hold verticals anymore and the 2S is slowing me down. Also, the NEW Crane2 gimbles have a new MODE cycle that requires you go through F to get back to PF from F. Again, this is infuriating as it’s means I lose my vertical lines after every shot whereas going directly from PF to L and back to PF (the way the original Crane2 did) saved huge amounts of time shooting real estate. If anyone knows a gimble that will solve these issues please let me know! :)

I use ronin sc + sony a6500 slightly rigged with follow focus(that I use to zoom), zhiyun dual grip handle, and external np-f battery adater (blind spot power junkie). The only thing I hate is the grip with the battery. It does not last a whole wedding day, so I have unmount the dual hangle and all, just to change the battery. After a whole wedding season, I'm not sure If I'll stick with it or try to find a better solution.
