Years back, I saw a post saying to treat your life like a ghibli movie. Make those mundane tasks seem like those aesthetic clips you see from their movies. I get those vibes from these vlogs and it makes me want to move away to make this a really for myself. These videos make me want to work hard to go and enjoy my life even if it seems very simple.

i think a lot of students have been feeling burnt out, and understandably so. it's important to acknowledge your struggles because only then can you work on them, as much as it is a privilege to be able go to college, it doesn't take away from ur very valid feelings!

@@effpng hello! thank you for pointing this out! i definitely did not mean to glaze over the fact that linh may be personally struggling - i meant this comment more as a way to compliment how she is able to turn a time of stress and burnout into something that is visually pleasing and peaceful for the rest of us. i totally agree with you on how harmful it can be to brush aside someone else's personal struggles as insignificant because they're putting on a brave face and didn't mean to imply that at all!

Am mostly a silent viewer but i lost my shit for the few seconds i saw linh cry,just goes to show that her life isn't all perfect and fine,she's struggling too just like all of us are. I love you so much for how vocal you are about your thoughts and how you always talk about things that matter,you have a such a positive influence on my life and you make me happy. oh god u will definitely not see this but the bit about how asian families don’t often say “i love you” made my eyes water up. seriously, like i’m in my bed sobbing. i haven’t been told “我爱你” by my 妈妈 or 爸爸 in years, but the cut up fruit they bring me on stressful days reminds me that the love is still there. thank you thank you thank you for being vulnerable and reminding me of the smaller, but nonetheless valuable, things in life.

@@zkxql9117 as a first generation asian american, most asian parents just don’t really know how to say i love you? i googled it and apparently it has to do with confucian teachings (i dont really know what that’s all about but it’s probably because of the whole filial piety practice most asians have in their life) its not like they’re emotionless, they definitely know what love is, but they just dont know how to express it. in my experience, my parents have shown me love in different ways, via either spending time with each other or buying each other stuff. also, the phrase “我爱你” is very awkward, and whenever my parents *have* tried using it it just sounds really weird 😅 hope this explanation helped!

Linh, if you're see this, thank you. I've had the worst weeks of my life recently and my adhd/depression has made everything worse. I try to distract myself from my feelings but everything here on yt is "my productive day, being productive, 6am school day routine' and other stuff like that. I feel terrible. but seeing your video is so comforting and a welcomed escape from everything. I truly appreciate you and all the hard work you do. Thank you.

idk if you know this youtuber, but a person named ris igrec made a video about college burnout that I found really relatable and weirdly comforting considering how realistic it was. that might be another vidoe you might enjoy. I'm sorry you're struggling, my mental health and general brain tomfoolery has been messing with me as well. I just want to let you know that your value and worth isnt related to the amount of work you do. you are doing what you can with what you have and that's admirable in itself. I hope things get easier for you

@@hideakisorachi3953 Thank you! And yeah, this semester is rly difficult. I had 8 classes and decided to drop 4 because I just couldn’t. Even now, I feel overwhelmed sometimes and I kinda never feel like working on school...? I often feel guilty because I still do my assignments last minute even thought I “had time”, but staying (even starting to be) motivated is harddd. Frl, for every students now (even for others! ♡), do your best, and it’s okay if you give up and decide to cut some stressful things for a bit. Focus on your mental health, it’s way more important! Sending lots of love and courage! :) ❤️

"In a lot of asian families, the words "i love you" are hardly ever said". As an asian myself, this really has a deep meaning. So, this is a daily reminder for everyone to say "i love you" to the people you love most because you only have a limited amount of time to say it.

Lính. I’ve subscribed to your channel for over 4 years now. I’m now graduated but your videos made me go through my college days and part time jobs. I’m so proud of you, and Dustin because not only you guys represent Vietnamese, but you guys also inspire us a lot. I’m also living in Canada away from my parents and I know and relate so much to your feelings. My mom is a single mom, she gave up her 20s to provide for us and my sister. I never saw her cry or say I love you. But I know deep down inside she loves us more than anything else in the world. When I saw your mom in couple of videos in the past, she reminds me a lot of my mom, resilient, hard working and never complaining. I wish you good mental and physical health. I relate heavily to your explanation of never being able to repay your parents. I’m also the eldest of immigrant parents and it’s hard right now. The college burn out this year is unlike any other I have ever experienced and it’s followed by intense guilt because my parents have sacrificed so much to give me an education in the first place. Hopefully, next semester won’t be as bad. We are almost there!

I think it’s interesting how, personally, i started watching her video kinda feel bad about life and myself, and seeing her be happy in the beginning and her beautiful home and room and her cat and all made me feel worse and started comparing myself to her, but then as it went on and that bit where she started being emotional i had like reality check that she is also human and everyone is going through something and i actually truely appreciate her and felt better. It kinda shows the power of being vulnerable to others and how toxic insta and stuff can be as people only show their best (sometimes edited) side. Im not saying there is anything wrong with showing you are happy but also showing when you are sad can also be important when you have a platform to connect with your viewers and stuff. So (i know it can be hard specially to show your emotional stuffs on the internet but) i really appreciate that you did that and i wish you all the best !! Stay strong :) 💕 (sorry this is massive, i dont mean to offend anyone if anyone does get offended i apologise, i just thought i would write my thoughts coz that what comments are kinda for :))

15:57 I'm in my second year of high school but I honestly know exactly how you feel, I am the same way with my family. Just yesterday I was told that I had to study for 7 exams in under two days. I cried and was contemplating on dropping out or literally dying because it was so much information that I had to process and I thought that I could not do this anymore (it seems kind of silly now but it was so much weight at first). I sent my sister a message quietly hinting at the fact that I was thinking of dying and she called me a while after when I was writing a note in my notebook. She told me to let it all out and I did, I sobbed and sobbed for what felt like hours. I haven't cried this much in so long and she helped me calm down from the state I was in and assured me that I will get through this, she helped me create a study schedule and it has been helping so far, I actually feel as if I can do this. I am so so grateful for my sister and I know deep in my heart that I may never make it up to her. It hurts to think like that, which is why I made a goal to work hard at school, educate myself, strengthen my weaknesses, pass my exams with flying colors, become a 4.0 student for the rest of my school years, get a scholarship and make her really fucking proud. I will also be there for her when she needs it. This is also for the rest of my family who sacrifices many things just so that I can have a better mindset and education. I am acing my exams and will be the best! I just discovered you but i really like how you do things and how productive you are. You show the happy and fun side but also the sad and vulnerable side that people don't really talk about. It makes this feel more human compared to similar videos i have seen by other creators. I see myself in you and look up to you :D also thanks for informing us about 'Notion', i really appreciate it!

hii Linh! i hope you have a good day. Tbh i nearly cried when you talked about your parents. I am a Vietnamese, born and raised in Vietnam. I just want you to know that “bố và mẹ thương con” doesn’t simply mean “we love you”. The word “thương” shows much much more than “yêu”, which means “love”. I don’t know how to translate “thương” to English. That word means that someone loves you so much to the extent that all they want is seeing you happy, even though you are not with them, they won’t stop loving you or won’t stop sacrifice until you are happy. I know this sounds a bit confusing. But that word isn’t something that people can easily say it out loud. Anw, I’m always proud to see the Viet communities do so well abroad.

being vulnerable with my family is something i still have to work on and you wrote about it so beautifully and i really respect you for being vulnerable and showing us too. I know what if feels like, maybe not the same as you but, feeling like ill never be able to repay the people that have helped me but then i remember that when i help people and give them whatever they need, i do it because i want to and I never need to be repaid. Even though its definitely not the same, I'm sure your parents don't expect you to repay them in the way you think that you need to. Love goes a very long way and it's what drove them to do what they did for you and love is what's going to help you show them that you're grateful! don't be so hard on yourself (easier said than done) because I'm more than 100% they know that you are grateful. Success isn't measured by money or jobs

I ended up crying pretty hard at this. I know I shouldn't, but I just can't help idealizing a life like this. I wish I could go out and take walks and visit museums and being able to watch at least just one of my friends. I'm just so, so so, tired of looking nothing but my walls and barely receiving sunlight every week. However, Ik I'm not the only one feeling like this, but someday we'll get out of this. After i found your channel, i realized that up until then i hadn't been watching many asian-americans, and even if i had been they didn't talk about their parent's countries and families culture that much. I didn't realize that i had that void in my life, that i wasn't getting representation as a former usa resident with a strong asian background. Your videos suddenly made me realize that all of these american youtubers that i was watching, i wasnt watching just because i was curious about that life, but that i was once american as well. It really made me think about my life back when i lived there. Ok i don't think i wrote this very cohesively, but what i want to say is i am so grateful to have found you, because i can really relate to being asian american!

the part where you talked about your family was so real and heartbreaking. my mom and grandparents are also immigrants and I completely understand feeling like you can never repay them for everything they've sacrificed for you (my dad included, despite him not being an immigrant). thank you for being so vulnerable and feeling comfortable with sharing those feelings with us. I think I can speak for everyone in saying that it's helpful to know that other people share similar feelings to your own. love you linh
