What a lovely little glimpse into your life. I love how your culture does not shame free, unstructured time. Here in the US, being busy is a status symbol and having time to devote to the violin as an adult is seen as self-absorbed sometimes. Unless you plan to make money, then it's OK. ;P Next time I feel pressure I will channel Marijke!

Glad you like it! 🙂 I think free time is indeed more normalized here, but I'm an exception here too with the amount of free time I have. Most women my age have a family and a pretty busy life, I'm happy that's not for me. Sure, I guess it's self-absorbed to a certain level, but I'd rather live this way than feeling drained in caring and responsibilities. And playing violin just because you like it is probably more fun than doing it for money. I get requests for performances at weddings sometimes, did it once, but I don't like it. So I turned down the next requests. It should be and stay something I like. Hope that helps. 😘

Sounds absolutely perfect to me. I similarly don't aspire to a grand life that involves constantly being on the go, that just sounds exhausting 😅. I also much prefer a calmer life with room to be content and explore hobbies and interests. I gotta add that I have so much respect for your work as a kindergarten teacher. I work in a museum as a tour guide and also teaching lessons, and as such occasionally get a kindergarten class sent my way and WOW, they are intense! At that age kids have such a wonderful enthusiasm and curiosity about the world around them which is a lot of fun, but I can't imagine doing it for multiple days every week. Hats off to you!

Exactly, a calm life is lovely! Teaching children that age is indeed challenging, it took me a few years to get decent at it. It demands a certain amount of theatrical skills, haha. And a goood trick is to bring something with you to show and touch.

You are so lucky, I wish I could work part-time so I could dedicate more time to my hobbies but on my country that is impossible 😢 At least I only work 40h a week, it could be worse...

I hope that changes one day. Working every day eventually wears you out. But I'm also just lucky because our house is cheap and I have a partner. If I lived alone I would have to work 40 hours too.

loved this! it's always nice to see what other people's lives are like since often we're busy with our own. i love the amount of free time you and your husband has 🥰🌸 lowkey want to work towards that haha. hope you considering doing more lifestyle/non music content once in a while~ also hearing part time for teachers is an option might make me want to move to the Netherlands XD in Canada the only way to work part time in the public school system is by supplying and although i love teaching (currently studying to become an elementary music teacher) sometimes working 5 days a week is a lot haha

Nice to hear you like it! I do like different content and I'd to do that more. I once started a DIY/lifestyle channel during a Summer holiday and made 4 videos for it (it's called Cinnamon Fox), but then I was out of motivation, haha. Cool you are studying to become a music teacher! I once considered that too. But it often means teaching different students every day and I'd find that rather tiring. I wonder now if more countries have people working parttime in education. 🤔

Wow that's a lay back life just like in Spain, life is slow, I like your life mine wakeup at 4:30am get ready and drive 40 minute it's 15miles or 24km. Sometime I start at 3am early morning work from 4am to 10pm that's a long hours and that goes 6 to 8 months and 7 days a week.

Sounds like interesting work! And music theory is very interesting, it helped me a lot in understanding why things work as they do. 🙂

Nothing. We 'Muricans are depressed assholes who treat each other (and the world) poorly, yet we think we're the best at everything! You'd be better off asking other musicians and other artists. We have good pizza, though. I also like to fart.

You forgot to mention that being Dutch, as with all "Dutchies," you're fluent in English. 😉👍

We're taught English at school from a young age. So yes, we can get around in English pretty well. I think a lot of European people do.

@@MarijkeViolin "Pretty well" is an understatement. Exceptional well is more like it. BTW: If a lot of European people speak English, it further advances the premise that "English is the universal language." 😊
