Hello, I'm looking forward to buy a 5 string violin to play g string notes with warmer and darker tone. But it's the time of response of the c string for violin the same as the viola or it's more fluent than a vioka

Why such complex device to put frets on a violin? Just do what lute players do for centuries. Use gut or nylon tied strings around the neck. Also because they need to slightly movable for tuning.

My violin came with this strings when I purchased it. For the first week A string in some position have wolf sound. But after few weeks later it sound very nice and I love it especially G and D string, very warm and soft, but kinda buzzy when you play it hard but I still love it, it makes it unique. Very nice for the budget too.

Say you had never played the hurdygurdy or even the violin. Would you have started by making your own instrument? Because of the $$ savings? Seems like a lot of work and then maybe the average person fails at learning how to play well and it's all down the drain with a huge amount of frustration. I made a chromatic dulcimer from a kit and I never play it because it's sort of a completely different kind of dulcimer than my other ones. That was a hard and sad "experiment".

Why is are nylgut banjo strings like $15, $20 for most guitar strings, $30 for good mandolin strings but over $100 for violin strings?! It's crazy. I'm buying these strings because they sound warm and cost less than $100.

Hey! Looks like you made some adjustments to your violin strap since your original video about the strap in Sep 2023! I have a Yamaha SV-200 and some neck/shoulder pain. Can you share what updates you made? Through comments or another video?! Thanks!!

0:25 That's the brochure dream; in reality, most guitarists are out of tune either in spite of frets or because of them. Getting intonation on frets requires individually movable bridge saddles (most acoustic guitars don't have these), as well as nut compensation (vanishingly rare on any kind of guitar).

Do you have background music? You are talking while music is playing. Very distracting when listener is trying to absorb information.

You are very talented, charming & gorgeous... As a seasoned electric guitar player of many, many years, I would love to have a 6 string Viper, most likely in black (due to cost) with gold hardware and frets...Having 6 strings would allow much versatility in using several different alternate guitar tunings...Standard EADGBE...Drop D... DADGAD...Open E... Open G...Open C...etc. Of coarse it would necessitate changing string gauges and some tunings might work better than others....but what fun, and as a guitar player that uses many different effects pedals, Im already well acquainted in that area... Id love to plug it into my BOSS SY-300 guitar synth which does NOT require a hexaphonic pickup system like many of them... it would be plug & play...very cool for sure! With a 2 year waiting list for the build, I could get 2 years of violin practice under my belt to help with the transition....its quite a commitment and price expenditure ($4000) that I need to think carefully about.... but Im so very tempted... Maybe you should get that pink one without frets in a 4 string version?? 😜 Peace ✌🏻❤️

I've got a 19thC German made violin worth about $5000.00 Australian so not a real cheapy but I use Tonicas as they're budget friendly but give a decent sound for the 'non' performing use. I'd use better strings for a recital but as I tend to play quite a bit I need to change strings reasonably frequently and as I said, (and you did too) they're affordable yet give decent sound. My bow is a French made, early 20C bow by A Vigneron and made a huge difference to my sound and cost me $1500.00 au so compared to the violin is up there in $$ value next to the fiddle. Great video, I really enjoyed it and your pretty smile. Thank you, Mark from Australia.

One is never enough, that is why i have 3 guitars (1 Epiphone Les Paul Custom electric guitar, 1 Ibanez AEG70 electric acoustic guitar, and 1 Casio DG20 Digital Guitar) and 7 keyboards (not listing here), 12 harmonicas, 2 congos and two bongos. I only have one violin (an Yamaha sv-200 electric violin) and after playing violin for 3 weeks, i need another violin, preferably an acoustic violin with a lot of wood. I dont play my sv-200 turned on, because I can play it off through a microphone! Violins are fun!

I have been looking for a violin case that I could carry by bike. I have a child´s chair on my bike and I need a case that stays higher on my back. Unfortunatelly I couldn´t see in your video, when you wear it, how deep it goes. Do you have any experience carrying it on a bike? I think it may be possible because the higher D holder is not on the top of the case. Thanks for the video.

Love your laugh at 0:16! Am working through my Nerdy Gurdy Linotte build and am enjoying/appreciating your videos. I actually came across them looking to see just how loose the keys should be. I suspect that you had to enlarge the holes in the key box (2:06) because you painted it, which added an additional thickness to the wood (along with possible grain raise from staining the keys.) I used a dye stain (supposedly finer particles than regular stain), and was testing fitting a few, to see if I'll need to sand down any grain raise.
@georgelangley-organist9799

Neat to see an earlier version of the Nerdy Gurdy, and all of the changes to the current version that I'm building. More 3D-printed parts and a different design for the head are the most obvious differences.
@georgelangley-organist9799
@georgelangley-organist9799 2 ай бұрын
Important to point out that she is "staining" the keys at 5:41, and not "painting" them. Paint would add a layer of thickness and texture to them and make it harder for them to move freely within the holes they fit into. Whereas a stain soaks into the wood, and while it may raise the grain a little, the keys can be sanded down if needed, without scraping off the colour.

Hello. I used to play the violin as a child and I would like to return back to it. It has been 12 years since I played the violin for the last time. I am thinking about buying this Viper violin. I would like to have 5 string, but I am thinking about fretted one. What is your opinion on frets? Could you see all frets well while playing the violin? Is it worth it? I play the guitar and on the guitar its not that hard to see each position of hand easily. Is it anyways again more about muscle memory?
