A married couple ordered the same dish, the _horror_, as if a married couple wouldn't have similar tastes. My parents regularly get the same thing when eating out, its not planned its just everyone ordering what they feel like. Of all the circus that goes into being president/ a celebrity, atleast let people eat whatever they want without judgement.

Journalistic academia today (at least in this country) is less about generic investigative reporting and more about advocacy and campaigning causes, at least that's how it is in our journalism studies. Lots of social and political sciences scholarships and awards granted by media and social advocacy organizations, with priority given to immigrants and visual minorities.

the staffers who curate what news the president sees at breakfast have an enormous amount of influence
@arthas640
@arthas640 Жыл бұрын
@@Eighty8percent funny how often that happens. In medieval and early modern times some of the most powerful people had the oddest jobs. The "groom of the stool", the kings bathroom attendent, was considered pretty influential because kings were rarely if ever alone and they'd be alone with the king every day.
@Hill.3669
@Hill.3669 Жыл бұрын
I don't think the staffers have that much freedom though. If they choose to omit certain events unfairly and those events boil over and reach the president at a worse time, they can loose their jobs. Take for example a disaster like the Ohio Train Derailment, let's say a staffer held stock at Norfolk Southern (the company that ran the train) and wanted to sell their stock later in the day but an acknowledgment from Biden would bring down the stock price, the staffer could easily choose to omit the news. This action would however hurt Biden's image because when asked about the issue later on, he would be oblivious to it which would mean that his staffers are failing at their jobs.

Point of clarification, presidential records are never accessible via the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). They are instead accessible via the Presidential Records Act (PRA). Congress and the Supreme Court private documents are never made public because when you write/interpret the laws you get to decide which ones apply to you.
@monhi64
@monhi64 Жыл бұрын
Dude don’t even get me started on the Supreme Court. Like you know they always blah blah blah they created three equal branches that all cancel each other out “equally” except it’s all bullshit and we know one branch has 80% of the power. It’s like saying you have a 50/50 chance of winning the lottery because either you don’t or you do. AND then inexplicably the judges have lifetime power, no general worries of reelection if they’re biased or bad. Insane
@Nosirt
@Nosirt Жыл бұрын
The 3 branch of governments throughout history literally work by 1) giving president more and more power 2) always reminding president they only gave him power cause they are lazy and can take it all away 3) don’t mess with the Supreme Court because they might just call everything unconstitutional
@Minecraftmike5089

Additionally, just because the release of the documents would be a crime does not mean the viewing by the public would be a crime. The US does not have any sort of secrets act like the UK does, and any such legislation would be laughably incompatible with the constitution.

Some error in calculating the cost per minute? It's 60 minutes per hour, not 24!?
@Rexvideowow
@Rexvideowow 2 ай бұрын
$755,580,000 for 2023, which was not a leap year, so that's 365 days = $2,070,082.19 per day. In the video, for some reason he's off by a few dollars ($2,070,079). He lists $86,254 as the hourly pay (we're dividing by 24 here); it should be $86,253.42 (only off by $1.42). He then lists $3,593 per minute, which is grossly off (should be $1,437.56; we're dividing by 60 minutes here). It looks like the mistake he made was dividing by 24 a second time, which you correctly identified. He also generalizes the "3/4 of a million dollars, by 7am" figure, which is $750k; more accurately, it's $603,773.97 (7 hours * $86,253.42 hourly pay = $603,773.97). Off by $146k. I also disagree with the usage of the word "before" when referring to when the president wakes up, which is ambiguous. He obviously means "by the time".

Purely a guess, but this could potentially be to prevent events in the eastern states having more focus then those in the western states. In Washington, Oregon, and California the president would be getting up at 4am then actually make it to the oval office at 6am when those states start to get going. Meanwhile 7am on the east coast isn't that late and a national issue is unlikely to arises domestically before then. Likewise if some major event happens in the evening on the west coast, the president is more likely to be in his normal work hours to address it as opposed to having to be dragged out of bed and tired the next day

Even in a video about the logistics of Joe Biden, Wendover manages to slip in a reference to Boeing planes. That's how you know he's legit. Also, Sam, if you are reading this, I think a good topic for HAI might be why Wilmington Train Station is named after Joe Biden.

Considering Air Force One is a Boeing plane, how could he not reference Boeing in a video about the logistics of the president?
@syxepop

Any POTUS has to depend on Boeing, which has being a solid contractor for the US Government for decades. The planes mentioned were the YC-35 (now based on the B747-8) and the C-32 (based on the B757 or Flying Pencil).

I know right? I mean they're octogenarians, who've been married for decades, who've probably tried everything that's usually on the menu at an Italian restaurant multiple times, and eventually settled on their current order, something that they can enjoy together.
