A Week In The Life Of A UX Designer

hey hey hey~ join me in my last week of working as a senior UX Designer in 2021! This week was supposed to be a quiet one but it ended up being kind of normal lol Between working with developers, doing a heuristic evaluation, solving design problems in Figma, and creating workflows with our design system it was a great way to end the work year! I am still feeling a bit of burn out but I'm happy I was able to stay productive.
Also, how do you guys like the new video editing and aesthetic? o.O I've been experimenting more with fonts and music~
I am currently thoroughly enjoying my holidays with video games, food, and sleep haha I hope all of you are doing well during the holiday season. This is my last video for 2021 and I want to say a huge thank you for watching my videos this year ^^ I'm so thankful for all of your support. Best wishes and stay warm!

Hi! New viewer here. :D Just want to thank you for posting this. I've been considering a career pivot towards UIUX and it was comforting how real you were being. I have a pretty low social battery and fidget a lot during meetings too because of nervousness. I noticed in this field there's a lot of meetings (of critiques, general meetings, etc) and this video gave me more confidence since I was doubting my abilities because of those factors. Excited to see more of your content!

I'm really interested in doing UX design and I've been watching a lot of related videos; this is the first Day/Week-in-the-life ones that was educational and gave me a real view of what to expect from this job. I'm a first time viewer here and this video was like a hug. I'm in my last year of high school and I am conflicted career wise to put it very simply. I was on a path leading to Civil eng. but I realized that I just can't see myself doing any of this as a job though it is fun to learn in a class setting. But one passion has stayed consistent over the years is the creative & performing arts. i feel like a career in civil eng wouldn't be the best way for me to release my creative energy in the way that I would like and while I'm aware that I can do it in my down time.... would I really have downtime? I really love graphic and web design and with Comp Sci was my second choice so I was researching the more creative side of comp sci and ui/ux stuck out to me. So hear I am, learning about this field that might just be the one for me. Thanks again!

Loved the video, I’m a french junior UX/UI Designer and I’m currently doing my first job as UX Designer. Im suprised that your weeks seems exactly like mine (editing component, meetings, documentations…). I couldn’t know a few month ago that our job is centered on clarification and explain to other co-workers what we think etc Very interesting, congratulations ! (I did my best to write well 😆)

@@alugirl93 C’est grave faisable si tu vas dans une école privé (faut payer) ! Tu t’inscrit dans une école qui propose le Master UX en alternance, tu as juste besoin de trouver une entreprise dans le même domaine approximativement et c’est l’entreprise qui payera l’école; Après ça fait pas mal de recherche surtout pour l’entreprise mais c’est possible 😄

Yes it's true. You also have to take constant criticism and be ready to justify and explain why you do everything you do.

As a UI designer, I would tell you no matter if you are UX or UI, a lot of interactions will be there(Even more if you came from Creative Agencies). In my experience, this is pretty normal that we have to train is justify our designs because the STK most of the time don't know about UX, overall we have a good point there.

Ty! This was a great day in the life. I have been curious about UX bc it seems to align with my interest in accessibility. I wanted to also ask for the youtube captions did You use a srt file or were these auto generated? A lot of my fellow students use the IPad pro but the IPad Air is pretty strong too. Have you ever regret buying the Air version instead of the Pro Version?

I used an iPad Pro for my old job (company provided) and honestly, there was no difference. Everything I do on my iPad for UX can be done with a notebook and pen. I bought an iPad mostly to read, draw and stream anime lol

Hi there! loved your video! I'm current student at BrainStation UX UI design. This bootcump is super intense since it is only 3 month full time and cost around $14000, my questions is is it worse it or better to go for springboard where same bootcump last 6 months? and I wonder what bootcump or school did you take and how long it took you to find your first UX UI job?

I’m in the same boat! Not sure if I should major in Computer Science or Computer Graphics Technology (basically graphic design). I think CS is more well-rounded since u learn to program and reason logically but it’s a lot more math/programming based than design. Either should be good for UX design tho if u have a good portfolio.

@@marinaperevozchikova5613 That’s exactly how I feel! I don’t want to do much math. I think majoring in CS would provide good fallback careers in case you don’t like UX which is one of the reasons why I want a CS degree, but the process of getting it seems tough :(

I have a question I’m a software engineer and want to transition to UI/UX product design. I already started learning and have a portfolio together.. if I wanted to start freelancing would clients pay for that work? Or would they rather have someone with UI/UX skills and maybe something life web flow to take my designs into web flow? Idk but it’s a web designer which is the same thing lol idek so confused

I always wondered if ux / ui would be for me as I’m interested in the career as someone coming from a business background with an interest of marketing but I lack in artistic 🖼 skill so that’s putting me off 😅

Im study in the university modern language, i like languages I could work as a teacher once I finish my degree but here in my country the salaries are pretty bad, teacher earn above average but is still little. Since i started to work from home in call center i started to get interested in remote job, i want to learn an skill so in a future get another job remotely but with the salary of usa. Im not good at math but i like technology as well but i don’t think i could code, I’ve been searching about UI/ UX, data science, cyber security, social media management but i don’t really know what skills should i pick and study to found a job with a better opportunities. Which one you think that it would work for me?
