A Weekend in Inishbofin

This weekend I traced my roots back to Inishbofin, Ireland, the least populated, most beautiful little island I've ever been to. I also got to know the sheep population a bit as well.

My great grandparents, Richard Burke & Mary Baker, were from Inishbofin! Arrived in the USA about 1865!

Best place in the world have dived there for weeks on end days hotel a great spot and great sessions in murrays love it!!

I guess that would make us distant relatives. My ancestors came from inishbonfin (Patrick King) now they live in Washington State.... I can't wait til I get to visit!!

My great grandparents also lived in New York for awhile, working at a hotel before Richard started working for the railroad.

Cecilia, my grandmother was from Inishbofin and grandfather from nearby Letterfrack. Do you know who the woman is who compiled the family trees for the island?

Yes! Her name is Marie Coyne and she is so sweet! She runs the Inishbofin Heritage Museum & Gift Shop on the island. I believe she has a KZfaq channel and there's definitely an active Facebook page for the museum/shop that you could contact her through! facebook.com/InishbofinHeritageMuseum/

My grandmother probably knew your great-grandmother! Bridget Lally (ne Cloherty) was born on the island approximately 1898. AND she also immigrated through Ellis Island and spent her life in Brooklyn/Queens! Small world :-) Is there an way to contact the woman in the gift shop about her family tree project?
