There is some controversy about who composed the music, with the song originally being credited to Keith Reid and Gary Brooker. Organist Matthew Fisher filed suit in the High Court against Gary Brooker and his publisher in 2005, claiming to have co-wrote the music. His claim was upheld and a series of appeals also credited him as co-writer. Question is, though, why did it take him 38 years to bring his claim to court?
