A wing and a prayer
or
the enemy
(this has to stop)
God lift me from the intolerable burden of my ignorance, arrogance, wilful blindness, bitterness and resentment
As I pray that others rise above the same faults and temptations
I watched Fox News release a message this week:
There are terrible things afoot under the surface of our society, and the perpetrators are coming for you
And coming for us
And then I watched the Democrats respond in panic and anger, saying:
There are terrible things afoot under the surface of our society, and the perpetrators are coming for you
And coming for us
Are there terrible things afoot, bubbling under the surface?
Is something coming for you?
And for us?
Ask yourself how true that is of yourself and your own life
Have you addressed all that?
Are you concerning yourself with the dust in your enemy’s eyes, instead of attending to the filth that obscures your own sight?
Do we want accusation, suspicion, discord, derision and hatred?
Or the peace and prosperity and happiness that beckons to us at this moment like never before?
Who’s the enemy here?
Is it the basket of deplorables?
Is it the freaks and the queers?
Is it the plumbers and carpenters and tradesmen and managers who work honestly and diligently during the day and the soldiers who stalwartly defend the borders and protect us?
Is it the artists and visionaries whose expressions of unbridled creativity entertain and rejuvenate us and who continually offer to us an unending panoply of technological miracle?
Is it the institutions that guide and protect us that so many lived and died to erect and establish which for all their faults have served us so well?
Do we want revenge or justice?
Do we want contempt or mercy?
Do we want war-or peace?
And what are you aiming at in your heart of hearts?
I see even the best of men degenerating into the exchange of blows.
I see even the best of men identifying the enemy in our neighbours and friends.
I see even the best of men falling prey to cowardice and self-righteous anger.
It needs to stop.
I need to stop.
You need to stop.
Before it’s too late.
Who is the enemy here?
The snake in your heart?
The lies on your tongue?
The arrogance of your intellect?
The cowardice of our refusal to see?
The enemy is that which divides to sow discord.
The enemy is the pride and fear that stops us from lending a hand acoss the divide.
The enemy is the great and eternal adversary of mankind.
And if we demonize our brothers, our comrades-in-arms, do we not precisely call that dread spirit forth?
Have we not yet learned?
Courage
Trust
Truth
Love
Even unto your enemy.
Which is you.
God forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us
May what is highest guide our vision
May what is highest open our ears
May what is highest guide our tongues
And may we pray
Fearful of the hell we could so easily and carelessly create
Deliver us from evil
Shine a light into the corners of our dark hearts
For thine is the Kingdom
The Power and the Glory
For Ever and Ever
Amen

Dr. Peterson, you likely won’t see this, but there’s a chance someone will, and this may help. I started watching you four years ago, while my parents underwent their first divorce out of two. I didn’t know much about you, only that you’d appeared along voices like Ben Shapiro, and made some comments on political correctness. I was interested to hear your thoughts, and I was surprised to hear a wide range of topics with views I never heard and be provided a sense meaning I never thought I needed. In one two hour lecture (I forget which), I never heard you say “um” or “uh” once. I saw how articulated you were, and I’ve been trying for the past few years to replicate that. You helped me through my parents’ divorces, helped me amend my relationship with my father (cliché I know, but true). You helped me find who I was. I articulate my thoughts much more clearly than I used to. I find myself to be less of a reactionary. I’ve been cleaning my room more consistently. I feel like I can be the best person at my father’s funeral. I’ve grown as a person because of you. I never thought I’d meet you. I thought the best chance to have a word or some semblance of half a conversation was to become popular with a podcast of my own and invite you on. But a few weeks ago, you came to my campus, Bucknell, and spoke with us. I was ecstatic when my friend told me you were to come here, and I still can’t help but smile when I think of that night I ran to my room and called my parents, excitedly telling them of your visit. I remember that night you spoke, and I remember the morning after (I hope you remember me; I’m Jack, the one whose lobster you signed). Even if you don’t, though, I wanted to say thank you. This prayer moved me to tears, and I feel incredibly blessed to have watched your videos, let alone met you in person. I love you.

I'm ashamed to say that, growing up, I mocked Christianity. I celebrated its demise as evidence of the increasing enlightenment of society. I lived decades as an atheist, but over the past 5 years, particularly the past 2, I feel like a veil has been lifted from my eyes. It began with me recognising and acknowledging the complete and utter degeneracy, immorality, insanity all around me, asking myself why, how could this happen? Then I'd sometimes catch myself praying, just thinking it, mentally asking someone for help and guidance, but not knowing who. Eventually I realised it was God. I was asking Him. I realised why society had sunk so low. Then I started to read the Bible, and I began to pray. Now I realise just how naive, ignorant and wrong I was, and I feel ashamed that I could ever have mocked something so beautiful.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. It's our own self hatred that keeps us down. Jordan Peterson is just one voice in a growing movement of discontentment against division and ideological warfare. Our culture might ebb towards chaos at times, but people know the truth. Some people don't like to call it God, but we keep coming back to the same principles, the same Father that loves us... Hate evil, when it comes to seduce us as we sit alone, watching it command it’s slaves through our screens, seducing us to hate them rather than evil itself, the one who, when we obey this request, tightens the collar and fetters of sin around our necks and wrists too. But The Lord sets the prisoners free. May we pray with contrition that He does so, even unto such sinners as us.

Which party advocates auditable elections and voter ID? Which party fights audits and requires ID for MANDATED jabs, but not to vote? Which party censors information on therapeutics and dissent and is holding people’s jobs hostage over an experimental medical procedure? I so appreciate JP’s effort here and wholeheartedly agree humility and unity is THE key to survival as a nation. But the two sides are NOT equal. One is hellbent on complete, permanent domination of the other and has fooled and frightened many into following. The other just wants liberty and freedom of speech back. You know, the Constitution. *Many of our issues would dissolve if we had an honest, unbiased media.*

Jordan, thank you. I am so humbled and broken and yet you have picked me up and put me back on track. These times have taken away so much freedom and joy for me. No more seeing my grandkids, going to the library, eating out, workouts at Trent , my beloved church and all the relationships that go with them. I seem to circle through anger, depression and hopelessness as I see our beautiful Canada change. I look at my ancestry album that I made for me and all our 6 kids and I see the old pictures of my father and great grandfather in uniform and the hellish things they saw and endured. And now, to see their legacy spat upon, is a knife in my heart.. For the first time I will not be there for my daughter as she gives birth in a few weeks. So I get up early in the morning and pray and meditate to settle my aching soul and gain courage for the day (feeling shame that I have gotten so weak and worn down). Then this morning I hear and listen to this video and I feel like you have reached down and picked up the strings of our humanity and woven us into a chord of hope and peace. You have blown away the fog for me this day and through tears I profoundly thank you.

I’ve always thought it’s silly to leave testimonies in KZfaq comments, but this is really more a reminder to myself. It’s around one AM and when he said that I needed to love my enemy, which is myself, I couldn’t help crying. I have very little appreciation for what I know I am, a sinner most of all, but also a sexually depraved, mentally unstable, cowardly, uncontrolled, anger prone, soul of pride and at the same time of self pity and loathing. I can’t stand myself. But I’m so sick of being sick. I think if I can learn to love myself, even while having the clearest vision of everything that I am, I can learn to love anyone. Loving doesn’t mean praise either, it means care. My favorite words I ever heard my God tell me, were that humility is not self loathing and confidence is not pride, but both humility and confidence are the remedy to their corrupted counterparts. Thank you Jordan for sharing this prayer.

"We were keeping our eye on 1984. When the year came and the prophecy didn't, thoughtful Americans sang softly in praise of themselves. The roots of liberal democracy had held. Wherever else the terror had happened, we, at least, had not been visited by Orwellian nightmares. "But we had forgotten that alongside Orwell's dark vision, there was another - slightly older, slightly less well known, equally chilling: Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. Contrary to common belief even among the educated, Huxley and Orwell did not prophesy the same thing. Orwell warns that we will be overcome by an externally imposed oppression. But in Huxley's vision, no Big Brother is required to deprive people of their autonomy, maturity and history. As he saw it, people will come to love their oppression, to adore the technologies that undo their capacities to think. "What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions." In 1984, Orwell added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we fear will ruin us. Huxley feared that what we desire will ruin us." From "Amusing Ourselves to Death". The true enemy is amathia. Always has been, always will be.

At the end of the day, people need tolerance and acceptance to function in a civilized society. Instead, allow them to simply accept us as we are and we them, living together as one people.

@@apreviousseagle836 I think a lot of people, especially young people are drawn towards it because of things like how Wicca primarily worships a god and goddess, which one could interpret as archetypes of divine masculine and divine feminine. Most other religions, especially christianity and judaism are mostly about worshipping a male God and the fact that they are strictly monotheistic with a strict dogma drives people away and leads them to look for less dogmatic, and less male centered religions.

These two years gave been very bad for me, I've felt suicidal at times, then slowly I became more agnostic, praying to God occasionally but only when desperate (there's no such thing as an atheist in a fox hole!). I've recently started praying regularly. I humbly asked God to grant me wisdom and strength to overcome my obstacles last night. I feel like this granted me the serious wisdom and strength I need that will help me through through a very scary spot I've found myself in recently. Christ-like. As one black preacher from Harlem that I used to listen to used to say, "In Christ we are neither black nor white - we're Shining Light!" Our beloved Dr. Peterson surely is that Shining Light. But that Light comes from Christ. who is revealing Himself to Dr. Peterson. "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." (John 8:12) May it be for us all.

I have been praying for Mr Peterson since his illness last year. I was thrilled to hear that his daughter now calls herself a believer. "For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and for the gospel will save it. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?" from the book of Mark chapter 8. I see a beautiful heart in these two and I pray for their souls.

@jaffa 360 Why are only MEN "sinners"? Why not any other creature on the planet? What the hell makes humans so damn "special"? Or should I say, WHO? I'll tell you "who" : HUMANS declared themselves "special" and yet "flawed". But not universally, of course. No no, "we" are among the flawed, while "they" (and their clan) are the "special" lot who don't always (if ever) have to follow the same rules they preach unto others. Are people not seeing how utterly CONVENIENT it all is? That WE, over any other creature on the planet, were the ones "made in God's image"? Where is the PROOF of this? No one has ever even SEEN God, beyond what they imagine in their own minds! And right there, that explains how this "made in his own image" crap came about... It might very well be true, but it is BACKWARDS. "God" never created anything in "His" own image ; MAN did. MAN created every god ever known through out history, PURELY out of HIS OWN EGO and zeal for controlling others through FEAR and coercion, via the right measures of boogeymen and superstition. Man wants to live forever, so he creates gods that promise them "everlasting life"... under certain CONDITIONS. Man wants power and rule over his brother, so he also invents all this "sin" bullshit, invoking shame and fear over things which oddly includes many attributes that are part (if not core) of our human nature... like sexual proclivities, whatever those may be (hetero, home, bi, monogamous, polygamous, etc). And as times pass and outlooks change and ideas evolve... so do the "gods". HOW CONVENIENT! Conclusion : There IS NO "GOD". We are just another evolutionary accident/mistake of existence, just like anything else that lives and breathes, now, or ever. We are no more nor less special than anything else on the planet. We are all vulnerable to harm, and we all grow old and DIE - doesn't matter how many legs you walk on or what appendages you have or anything else. We might have a higher level of consciousness, but that doesn't mean anything beyond what it is ; a heightened level of self-awareness. If anything, it just means we should know better than the average beast how to conduct ourselves in a situation, and not just give into primal/paranoid instinct every time. Which is not the same as submitting to ENSLAVEMENT unto a pack of LIES and mythological FICTION. Bah, I'm wasting my time and breath over here. Someone in here is gonna get a chapped ass over this, cos they're probably so brainwashed with all the God and bible babble bullshit, common sense and objective reasoning will never penetrate their cement-like cranium. I'm out. I got better things to do than waste time and energy imparting reason to the unreasonable, logic to the illogical, and wisdom to the foolish (aka : argue with religitards and superstitious suckers).

I never really understood prayer before. This bugged me for decades. That I couldn't grasp it. I now realised that that's because the scripted prayers from thousands of years ago had portions that weren't too relevant to my situation or my family's situation or my community's situation. And the other problem was I didn't know how to pray. It just seemed like asking for things to happen or to not happen. Due to this video and some deep thinking I now understand. I understand that prayer is taking the time out of your day to consciously be aware of, think about, plan with and connect with the ideal you're striving for so that you're better set to take that aim as you go about your day tomorrow. Prayer is taking time out of your day to assess yesterday and take note of the mistakes you made that weren't in service of your ideal. This helps prevent you from making the same mistake going forward. And the gratitude part of prayer, is taking time out of your day to be conscious and aware of the things that are valuable, hard to come by and easily lost or destroyed. Yet as you go about your day and concern yourself with your life and goals will likely take them for granted. And so the prayer of gratitude is a conscious reminder, not to neglect them, and not to let them slip away carelessly.

If you have followed JP for any length of time you will know that he deeply respects the person and words of Christ and that he sees the value of reminding believers and unbelievers alike what Jesus said when he walked among us. However, to say that he is sharing "his Faith" is doubtful. Oh, how I pray it were true. If JP ever meets the risen JC, it will be transformative and will be a day to celebrate. No, I don't know JP's heart, but a man who plainly states, "I try to behave AS IF I believe that God exists" has not crossed over from death unto life. What we all need to hear from JP's own mouth, is "Jesus is Lord!" (Romans 10:9). Then, and only then, can we be confident that he has shared his "Faith in the Lord"... our faith in the Lord. It probably was the most touching moment for many of us. I have constantly struggled with self-love, acceptance, and self-criticism. How can I look at my own defects, my own failures, and not feel disdain for myself? My own therapist has a hard time conveying this to me. How can they be compatible? Acceptance always feels like lowering my standards. Like choosing to not care. I can't help but feel there's something wrong with it. Loving our enemies means to love those who wish us destruction, suffering and death, and isn't that person us, most of the time? If we may deal with those who wish us suffering and pain, doesn't love guide us to justice better than hate? What does hating ourselves accomplish? What does hating others accomplish? If we can't love someone who wishes us pain and despair, how can we love ourselves? "Courage Trust Truth Love Even unto your enemy. Which is you." I'm an atheist too. If this is what Christianity is, count me in. It makes me grit my teeth and my blood boil. We need the Christian mythos explained in secular terms. I'm tired of this mysticism. I don't get it, we can't get it. We need it explained like the Stoics did, or like Lao Tsu did.

I am about to lose my job. Many of my friends already have. We are actively fleeing Canada and looking for a safer, freer, place to live. I attend to myself diligently. I watch my resentment carefully, as it used to run my life and I refuse to go back to that hell. But we are living in an incredibly dangerous time. If we don’t speak up now, put our foot down now, FIGHT for what is right and what is good and what is PEACEFUL… We will not be able to speak up. Your voice, on behalf of those who can’t work. Can’t travel. Can’t see friends. Can’t visit their child in the hospital. Your voice is needed, Jordan.

Yes exactly how I feel. I have no hate for any man. But I do not believe self improvement to be the way to stop this current iteration of evil we are seeing. Our charter of rights and freedoms in Canada has been trampled upon. People are losing their livelihoods and dying while the rich profit off the mysery. We are at the doorstep of total tryanny and subjugation. It is not the people who listen and learn from Jordan and God who have promulgated this tryanny. It is those who listen to evil and the devil.

Keep pursuing Jesus! Never let him out of your sight. Read the gospels daily and increase your prayer life. “Self is the worst enemy a Christian has” -Charles Spurgeon It hurts my heart to see my brothers in the faith struggling. There is only one who seeks to steal, kill and destroy. He is the true enemy not our fellow brothers and sisters and ourselves that have been deceived. This is truly a spiritual war and it cannot be won by physical means but by walking according to the light as Dr Peterson is pointing out. The Sermon on the Mount is a good place to start as well as all of Christ's teachings.

Thank you, Dr. Peterson. This message made me weep. I will pray to no longer hate myself. I will pray to not project that hatred as a shadow onto others. I will pray for memory: to remember that those who hurt me, because they are blinded by fear, do not know what they do. I will pray for open eyes to know the evil I do. I will pray for healing, and I will pray for courage to feel the pain in healing. And I will pray for love, for the love that links opposites together as a transcendent function of the psyche, the love of the cross, of the mandala, of the serpent on a pole. We love you, Dr. Peterson, or at least I do. Please be kind to yourself. You taught me today to be kind to myself. You have changed the world more than anyone alive today can understand, not even you. We thank you for wrestling with God, and so does He.

God bless you Jordan Peterson. May your positive and honest influence continue to help groom both men and women and help young people become leaders like yourself. Leading us all to be better people. They are putting their full effort into dividing us with a cacophony of constant chaos. It keeps one off balance, distracted, in a heightened emotional state. This allows them so much more control as we fail to gather, speak to each other with like mindedness. We can’t let them win the battle.

I was an atheist 3 years ago, but I have seen the light and Jesus has forgiven me of my sins. Now, I do my best to walk in the light. It is not easy but God’s word guides me and teaches me. If you are reading this and you have not turned to Jesus Christ I want you to know that no one is beyond redemption. For God so loved the WORLD (the world means everyone, sinners like you and me and murders and liars and cheaters and rapists and fill in the blank) that he gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. If you are reading this, I love you and more importantly God loves you! He loves you and wants you to return to Him and live with Him forever in heaven. All you have to do is believe in His son Jesus Christ, ask for forgiveness for your sins, and do your best to turn away from your sinful lifestyle. I used to be one way and now I am completely different and the thing that happened in between was HIM! Thank you Jesus!

Making this video is a huge a sacrifice for Dr. Peterson. This quasi-religious vibe to it it's sure to feed many of his detractors. But it's the vibe needed for this kind of talk. Has Jordan realised that, just like Jesus, you reach a point where sacrificing yourself for humanity is the optimal choice? Dr. Peterson, I admire you profoundly.

You have helped so many countless young (and not so young) men and women around the world. Your modest, caring nature and genuine care in listening to all perspectives is truly most Christ-like and admirable. My Nana recently passed in June and she had the same love for all, lack of judgement and resentment, and curious love for learning and art as you. God speed Dr. Peterson. We love you. May the Lord guide and protect all of us as we constantly pivot in taking aim at our goals, always in His name.
