This week Heidi and I escaped for a night away in the Cotswolds. This time choosing a location that we hadn't been to before. We headed to Painswick, a place that has a long history, dating back over 1000 years. The village itself is full of charm and beauty and the hotel is equally matched to this delightful setting. The Painswick was such a fantastic place to escape from the every day, to take the time to slow down and enjoy simply being together, just the two of us. The interiors are stylish and oh so inviting. If you're looking for somewhere to escape, no matter the time of year, Painswick really needs to be on your list!

It’s so difficult to time with flowers, when they’re out varies so much on which part of the country you’re in 😅 The hellebore’s and daffs made up for it though 🥰 thank you so much for joining us this episode, I’m glad you enjoyed it and I’m pleased we can take you on these virtual trips with us. I love the weather, the buildings and countryside. I felt a tinge of sorrow for the graves that no one will visit because all those people have passed who would have taken flowers to them. But...your adorable Heidi cheered me up. She seems a precocious child with that camera and her powers of observation. 🇬🇧❤🇺🇸

Can you recognize a place you've never been? During the hot dry Southern California summer of 2018, while nursing a broken toe inside with the air conditioning, I began an online search of National Trust gardens in the UK. I discovered the Rococo Gardens at Painswick, and at the time they had some charming short videos on their website, where the head gardener or his assistant would take you 'round while they performed various chores around the place. So much fun to see, and there was plenty of footage of the snow drops. And who doesn't love a gothic folly or three? Hopefully you can see the garden again in spring or summer; the espaliered pear and apple trees in bloom are so beautiful! Cheers, dear! :)
