The link to part 2: • A Woman Called Golda 1...
A Woman Called Golda is a 1982 American made-for-television film biopic of the first woman Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir (outstandingly played by the actress Ingrid Bergman in her last role).
The story of Golda Meir's life is tightly linked to the rebirth of Israel and what happened before and after. In this 2 parts miniseries they managed to create very close to the authentic feeling of how it was at that time in Israel in the Kibbutzes, in the parliament, and lots of other events before and after the independence of Israel. In the miniseries Ingrid Bergman is outstandingly playing the mature Golda Meir (this was the last film of Ingrid Bergman for which she got both the Golden Globe Award as well as Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress).
This film is a must for anyone who has feelings for the Jewish people and Israel, as it portrays the challenges and hardships that lead to the independence of Israel. This film can also be appreciated by people of all cultures and traditions, as it is an inspiration for one and for all, showing how a person with one pointed dedication and conviction can lead to great deeds which can help many people and a nation as a whole.

She really played the embodiment of Golda Meir. Perhaps some things were changed in the movie; however, the essences of Golda is there, and one can learn monumental history as well as seeing a noteworthy and enjoyable movie performance. Thanks for uploading.

Namaste Abhishek! India and Israel share similar destiny! Both have long traditions: the great Vedic Tradition of India of knowledge and enlightenment, and the the Jewish tradition which is the foundation of most religions in the West. Both India and Israel were under the British mandate rule, and both got independence around the same time: India in 1947, Israel in 1948. Namste to India from Israel. Leonard Nimoy is quite handsome in this role as Golda’s lukewarm husband. On another note if living in a kibbutz meant having to invite every neighbor over every time I was listening to music they liked I would have gone right back to the US! ‘Communal living’ just isn’t my thing.

It did. And worse. Children were brought up in the Children's House, spending only an hour or two with their parents per day. I've heard that some very early Kibbutzim actually experimented with shared clothing (except underwear).

That’s how it was years ago. I’m not so sure that the kibbutzim run this way anymore, they are more for tourist attraction. Even I couldn’t live with having to share everything I own with every neighbor of mine.

The Kibbutz was the foundation of Israel. It was the only way to really survive...by sharing and creating a country together. The Kibbutz children and other residents, were well known for their true devotion to each other and others. They were always known for their kindness and bravery. Without the Kibbutz, there could be no Israel. When I was young, barely just 20 years after the founding of the modern State of Israel, young people from all over the world came to live, study Hebrew and do volunteer work there, often in the orchards or dairy facilities. And they were NOT all Jewish. It was such an enriching experience for us all. And often we were taken on historical trips around the country. It helped make many of us better people!

@joeyo6385

@@EmeraldgreenH17 Dear Jay, the message to ParySa was intended to be as a good will gesture, not to start a political debate about Kurdistan! There is a Kurdish culture, languages, and national identity which is historically based, otherwise there wouldn't be Kurdish people, and no one can deny the existence of the Kurdish people! The fact that the Kurdish people do not have a recognized country is a political issue. "Geographically, Kurdistan roughly encompasses the northwestern Zagros and the eastern Taurus mountain ranges. Kurdistan generally comprises the following four areas: southeastern Turkey (Northern Kurdistan), northern Iraq (Southern Kurdistan), northwestern Iran (Eastern Kurdistan), and northern Syria (Western Kurdistan). Some definitions also include parts of southern Transcaucasia. Certain Kurdish nationalist organizations seek to create an independent nation state consisting of some or all of these areas with a Kurdish majority, while others campaign for greater autonomy within the existing national boundaries. See Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurdistan

@@joeyo6385 Dear Joe, when have I ever denied the Kurdish people? I would never do something like that. I even have a few Kurdish friends here (I'm from Germany) and I respect them. But it's absolutely false and irritating to spread lies. And that's exactly what you two did here. Talking about 'Kurdistan' as if it's real. You said they do not have a 'recognized country' which implies that you indeed think that the areas you just mentioned (in Iran, Turkey etc.) belong to 'Kurdistan'. This is such a lie. But let me turn the tables: I believe that Israel actually belongs to the Palestinians and it's their country. It's just not a recognized counrtry as that but nevertheless I will call Israel as Palestine from now on. So what would you say?
@joeyo6385
@joeyo6385 2 жыл бұрын
@@EmeraldgreenH17 Dear Jay, There are 2 different issues here:- - First, about Kurdistan: It a matter of semantics/definition. It seems like you consider the word "Kurdistan" to imply a country. Actually the word "stan" by itself simply means "location" or "place of". In India there are many "stan"s which simply means the "location of", like Brahmastan means the location of the Brahmans - this has nothing to do with country. Although there are countries that have the "stan" ending, the word "stan" by itself has nothing to do with political borders and does not necessarily means a country. So in this case "Kurdistan" simply means the location where there are Kurdish people. If you don't like the definition you can avoid using the word 'Kurdistan' and just simply use the word Kurdish. In any case it has nothing to do with politics it is just semantics of how you use the word. {I'd like to point out that from your emotional reaction it seems that although you are from Germany you have somehow aversion to the idea that the Kurdish people have a land - which is fine - you are entitled to this point of view, though it feels like you have the same reaction like Turkish people or Iraqi people to the Kurdish people. this is not said in criticism, just to point out that somehow this issue is important to you, issue which most Germans wouldn't care}. -About the second issue of Palestine and Palestinian people, it is good that you brought this point so that we deal with real facts and not with concepts that are propagated in the media! Did you know that there has never been 'Palestinian' people or nation? sound surprising, but an extensive probe into historical and archaeological records prove that from 15,000 BC to 1964 there is not a shred of evidence of existence of Palestinian nation or people! {And modern Israel was found in 1948...}. What people call today "Palestinians" are actually Arabs that came from neighboring countries (Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon) into what today is Israel for trade and work and then some of them settled in. Only in 1965 as a political statement Yaaser Arafat started to call these Arabs "Palestinians" and from then on there is a concept of "Palestinians". Please see the comprehensive article about it: www.weeklyblitz.net/oped/palestinian-historical-land-claims-are-unfounded/ When there was the British Mandate in this area the word "Palestine" was used by the British to define the land they controlled which included what today is Israel and Jordan. At that time everyone living in that area: Jews, Arabs and Christians - they all had had a British document called 'Palestine passport' - even Golda Meir (the Jewish woman who years later became the Israeli prime minister), in 1920 Golda Meir also had a Palestine passport, like everyone else living in this area. But there has never been a nation or indigenous people in this area called "Palestinians" - this word is just a modern invention. In fact in the Arabic language there is not even the sound "P" {they only have "f" or "b"} - the word "Palestine" was borrowed from the British definition. And in contrast, if you look into the history of the last 4,000 years there are plenty of historical records and archaeological findings, and poetry and literature showing the existence of Jewish people in this area. So nobody can deny the connection of the Jewish people to the land of Israel! When we deal with world politics the whole thing is a real mess filled with prejudice and misconceptions! Did you know that there are 300,000 so called 'Palestinians' in Lebanon, and 2 million of them in Jordan living in poverty and sub-human conditions because nobody really cares for them! The "world" cares about "Palestinians" only when it has to do with Israel, not because they really care for the Palestinians but they just use the Palestinians as a tool to slander the Jewish state. So it is important to deal with real facts and not with the propaganda promoted by the media and by interest groups. Today's criticism about Israel is just another form of the age old antisemitism against the Jewish people. In the past it was against the Jews, now it is against the Jewish state (and for anti-Semites facts and truths are not important, they will use any lie and twist in order to blame the Jews). Note that Israel is the only democracy in the middle east - in Israel all citizens whether they are Jews Christians Muslims or Druze, they all have equal rights and human rights, but every year the UN Human Rights Council issues around 95 resolutions against Israel, and 0 (zero) resolutions against Taliban, Turkey, Pakistan, China, Cuba, Somalia, Saudi Arabia etc, and only 11 resolutions against Iran.

My friend, it seems that you have wrong information! There were NO troops from England or France in the 1948 War!!! Also at that time there was no U.S. intelligence support! The 1948 war was solely by Jewish fighters (during WWII several thousands of Jews helped the British army in WWII, so when the Jewish fighters returned to Israel after the war they had a little more experience then others). The newly established Israel had to fight against 7 Arab counties which had tanks and airplanes, while the Israeli troops had only pistols and guns! Only many years later US started to provide military aid to Israel! Even in Yom Kippur war in 1973 when Golda Meir asked USA for military aid they responded that they will only support the winner! So Golda had to convince the Americans that Israel wins the war. The military supply came 7 days after the end of the war! People think that at that time there was unconditional support from USA but it was not true! When it was imminent that the Syrians and Egyptians are going to attack, and Israel planned to have preemptive attack, Nixson and Kissinger told Golda that if Israel would be the first to start the war they will not get even the head of a screw as support! Such was the US attitude at that time! If you want to know more about the 1948 war: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948_Arab%E2%80%93Israeli_War#Armed_forces And about the Yom Kippur war 1973: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yom_Kippur_War

The pre-Israel Jewish militant group Etzel and Lehi were fighting the British to get rid of the biased British mandate, and the 1948 war started after the departure of the British - in any way there was not even a faint chance that the British would flight alongside the Jews. @@howardkahn4330 I am sorry that I don't believe your truth, because we have in Israel rich and detailed information about the history and it was recorded by people who were there. It is hard for me (or for anyone) to believe that they will omit such information as you claim, and that no one will notice or correct it! I grew up in Israel and to my experience Israel is full of self criticism and will not be shy to give recognition to those who deserve it, or admit any shortcomings. If you think/feel that what you wrote is true, it is all right, but if you want others to consider it you will need to provide reliable recorded source/s to support what you say, otherwise it feels like imaginary reality. There is no need to argue about anything. To my experience the truth always come out, and since there was nothing in the past 70 years to support your claim I cannot consider it a truth. It is true that in Yom Kippur war 1973 Israeli official managed to get the US to provide satellite intelligence to map the movements of the Arab forces, but it was only in 1973 not in the other wars of 1948, 1956 or 1967! I appreciate your comments but I had to respond to them because what you claim does not go hand in hand with what is known from recorded history. So for now lets agree to disagree!
