Jim W6LG uses the RigExpert AA-35 to estimate the length of two coax cables and also measure the loss of the cables. Some old coax cables turned out to be okay. Who would have thought that?

The 55 model reveals the cable length and impedance within seconds. No math needed. Chock full of other features too. Well worth the value and additional cost. Thanks for your videos, de K3WR.

Yes, and if I had to do it over again, the 55 would be my choice. It is worth the extra $30 for sure. 73, Jim

It is good to be scene. I had a tough two weeks in the hospital. I was in for a week. Out for two days. Rushed back by ambulance and had emergency surgery at 8PM the first day of the second visit. Both times I had severe sepsis with organ failure. I was in guarded condition and in isolation. 73, Jim W6LG

Just got the 55 zoom. Easy to use compared to my nano vna. tested them against each other on various items, readings were exactly the same. But the rig expert is easier to use.

That is the problem. The AA55 is a better choice. I usually have to run it buy the CFO and she wants to know why I need something. And that can be hard to explain. 73, Jim

A bit off topic but would you share with us the tools and techniques you use to create your excellent KZfaq products. Anyone can record a selfie, but it takes skills and equipment to produce the high quality presentations that you gift us. Regards Dave

Hi Jim: Thanks for your excellent videos. I've been playing with my new AA-35 Zoom for two weeks trying to figure out something obvious I guess. I'm trying to check the length of a new 50 ft RG8X coil of cable. I follow your instructions and have no problems until I try to figure out how to determine the last step.....how to multiply by the multiple of 1/4 lamda. In your example screen display how did you determine that "4" was the figure to use as the multiplier. I can't tell by just reading your screen. Thanks Roger

Thanks. No, nets are not my thing. I chase DX. I do long path to Africa in the morning. Europe on the short path at night. I use the gray line. I am usually around 14200. I frequently talk with some friends on 14167 in the moring. 73, Jim W6LG

I would like to see this done on the tool itself not the PC screen. I’m not sure what buttons you are pushing or how it and with what it was shorted.

I used the device and not the computer. The computer was used just to get a stable picture. The pictures were screen grabs from the AA35. 73, Jim

It does. I prefer this device because of the keyboard and the big color screen. The use is somewhat intuitive. The AA55 might be a better choice because of additional functions. Thanks for commenting. Much appreciated. 73, Jim W6LG

Don't you find that the RigExpert products are cheaply made? I sent mine right back... of course it was DOA...But, even if it wasn't DOA, I'd still have sent it back not being worth anything close to the asking price.

No, my AA-55 Zoom is fine. What are you expecting, a metal case? It's an incredibly useful piece of kit. I agree with Jim's comments about how well the manual is written and the menu system is so easy to use. The value is clear to me but of course everyone's expectations will be different. Y

Not at all. So far, so good. I paid full retail from a dealer. I believe it to be worth the money. I am often building and testing antennas. I am sory that yours was DOA and you did not have the opportunity to use the Zoom. 73, Jim
