From an ex-addict, it makes me so sad to see how people show up after one has already died, but when alive, addicts get treated like disgusting creatures and made fun of. Rip Aaron, I hoped so badly you would pull out of it

That’s not true. Addicts push people away and sometimes the more people are there for them the more they take advantage of the people. I can tell an addict let’s find help, let’s do this but if they don’t want to they never gonna do it, instead they think “Im the threat”, “I am the bad person”, sometimes people stay away because we get tired, we don’t know what else is there if the person doesn’t want help. - then what happened? Well sometimes they find help on their own, sometimes they get more deep into the substance (sad). - it’s hard for both parties, not just for the addict.

I agree, we grimace at the unfortunate, run away from them might it be contagious. And after their death, we solemnly oblige our societal duties of compassion and sorrow. How might we change this though? How can we create a sense of safety when helping those who are suffering? I think that's why we don't, we fear being hurt, being sucked in, being hurt financially, being harmed physically, emotionally. The risk keeps us from helping. I would love your opinion as I think about this often. I live in a street where addicts congregate and I walk by them every single day, thinking of this.

He was a sweet, sensitive, loving child who wore his heart on his sleeve and all he wanted was his mom to love him as a mom, not a manager. He was used & exploited, then discarded. He was treated like a cash cow by his parents, and they stole his hard earned money for the luxurious lifestyle, and had him pay their huge debts during his best young adult years. He turned to drugs under anxiety and never fully recovered from it. That’s why his life was ruined.

@@Weekend658 No they stole from both of them. Nick and Aaron both appeared on 20/20 talking about how their mother, as their manager, took their saved money for her own spending. Their father signed over his debts to Aaron so that he could stay out of jail for tax evasion. Aaron was the only one of the five siblings who took the bullet for their father. He suffered anxiety and depression when he was harassed by creditors, and that was when he started using drugs.
@Weekend658

@@Mandon97 I’m trying to listen on what you’re saying but after being someone whose actually educated in finances, it’s not correct. You cannot legally sign over debts to another persons SS number. You can assume debt on a house, not on personal expenses or credit card debt or boats etc. only houses. With that said, if you are more than $500,000 in debt, you simply file a chapter bankruptcy and it just freezes your credit score for a little while. All debt forgiven. It happens to the wealthy a lot. In fact, it’s how Donald trump lost billions then became a billionaire again. He’s also a celebrity so he could have easily sold some of his personal belongings or signed them and auctioned them off or had his brother sign and auction them off to pay. Don’t pretend he was a Maulcoly Culkin

I feel so bad for him, I think Aaron is a clear example that kids should never have to deal with the pressure of fame, even if in the future they find a lot of money and happiness, the traumas, and pressure and fake friends they do when little really not worth it. Now that AI and digital effects are improving so much, we should find a way to stop bringing little kids to fame, and wait until they are adults and can make their own decisions.

Fame has nothing to do with it. Indifference to common sense, ignoring the overwhelming amount of information about the consequences of using drugs, etc. Bottom line: exercising deplorable life choices. That is not an exclusive demeanor of famous people, plenty of regular kids doing drugs, and dying.

I think he loves Nick like a father because Nick was the real provider of the family and protected him more than his father could. He got needy on Nick. When Nick got married you can tell he was bitter and jealous and that jealousy drove him to the intention of killing Nick’s wife. His mental issues got even worse after his father passed away. You can tell how much damage the absence of a father can do to one’s life.

When people like Aaron are at the top everyone is looking out for him, when they fall for any situation people treat them as if they didn't exist and focus only on their mistakes, in the last lives that Aaron did I could see such horrible comments full of hate against him, comments that instead of uplifting and giving hope were the opposite. If you have an addict in your family just tell them you love them and what they can be proud of. Tell them about all the good that's inside them and shines through. Especially men, they never get any compliments and they need them too.

I'm from Poland, I'm a stranger and I live on a different continent, my sister and I were big fans of Backstreet Boys, I didn't listen to Aron's music, but his death touched me a lot. I am his age and have been struggling with bipolar depression for the last 20 years. I know what it means to be mentally ill and struggle with pain and loneliness practically all my life. Plus, like Aron, I come from a rather privileged family, I've always had a comfortable life in terms of money&stability thanks to my hard-working parents, but depression doesn't choose - rich or poor, it can happen to anyone. This is what the public still doesn't fully understand. My depression is severe, clinical, and genetic. Unfortunately, my family has a history of various mental illnesses. So I understand what Aron went through. Mental illnesses are slow killers, many people turn to drugs and alcohol to ease their pain. Today my thoughts go to Aron and his whole family. Rest in peace, I know you've suffered a lot, but now I hope your soul has finally found eternal happiness. ♥

It breaks my heart every time I hear another baby has to live without a dad. As someone who dad passed away 4 months after there first birthday it sucks and it's hard. All I got is stories other told me. It's going to be tougher for that little boy. His family going to tell him all good things. Once he starts using internet and understanding what he is reading or listening too. I can't imagine how tough that will be.

I remember him being on some programme it was called something like family boot camp… and his mother somehow made him feel bad a lot. He was talking about his challenges with being famous and she said ‘it was not as if you were in NSYNC or anything’. Very hard, but part of me is maybe glad he is released from all this nonsense he had to go through. People are very judgemental of people with any type of problem let alone a drug problem so I hope that he has found peace and much nicer people where he is 🎉

So incredibly sad 🥺💔 All he wanted was love & acceptance, but was met with bullying and cruelty. He was a true authentic talent, but not many supported him or gave his music a chance🥺 I'm grateful I got to meet him a few times and spend time with him. We used to dm & text as well. I'm not saying he was perfect by any means.. He struggled with addiction, pain and trauma from childhood & adulthood that affected his mental health, and at times, caused him to lash out & self destruct. But put yourself in shoes... He got attacked and bullied by hundreds of people daily. Could you handle that without getting angry and acting out at times? I know I couldn't. He was stronger than most! He didn't deserve any of it!! Mental health and addiction are both a DISEASE!! Where's all the bullies & trolls at now?!? It's truly disgusting that we as a collective, only show love & compassion in death, instead of in life, when the person needs it the most!! If you supported him, then please don't take offense & include yourself in this. Thank you to those who always showed him love and compassion!❤I pray he's found the peace he was so desperately searching for here in life, on the other side ❤🕊🙏 My heart goes out to his son who will never get to know his father 💔🙏 Love you always Aaron!❤ #ripaaroncarter #aaroncarter #mentalhealrh #addiction

Your comment made me tear up. You said it perfectly. If only I knew what was happening to him, I would've showered his social media with encouragement and support. I didn't know how bullied he was until the news broke out about his death. Only then I checked his twitter and saw a lot of hate comments from twitter. I regret not following him on his social media, I know I wouldn't make any difference, I'm sure my comment would be lost in the stream of hateful people, but there's most likely a chance for him to see it right? And would remind him that there's people who still looks up and support him. Not a biiiiiig fan of him but I used to like him and his songs. But his death hit me differently. RIP childhood crush ❤️

One year old kid in the wings… Horrible. I’ve heard people were telling him on a live stream to end his own life. If that’s true, those people should be held accountable. That’s not cruelly telling somebody to shove it. That’s never something you say to somebody in extremis. The dude had enough going on, it was all public. It was clearly on his mind… so sick. Aaron was not ready, he & Melanie lost custody of his son and even that didn't made him go to Rehab. Yes, he was in an outpatient program but that is an absolute no-go when you are an addict because you sleep at home and have all the access.
