Yesterday Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers made his weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee Show and said that he is quote, “not mentally or emotionally at that point” when it comes to deciding about his playing future. Rodgers also vouched he can still play at an elite level saying quote, “Can I play at a high level? Yeah, the highest. I think I can win MVP again, in the right situation. Right situation, is that Green Bay or is that somewhere else, I’m not sure.” Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe react.

@jonhohensee3258 displace- the moving of something from its place or position. Aaron is doing this "I'm gonna retire, oh wait no, I'm not" routine. Rookie contracts are 4 years w/ a 5th year option. Jordan has 1 more true year left on his rookie deal before they decide to pick up his 5th year. If Aaron is still the qb by then, then GB will be forced to either trade or let Love walk. Aaron gets what he wants, the starting spot w/ no "hotshot young qb" gunning for his spot. I can't believe I have to actually explain this.

Rogers also later said "I am not interested in rebuilds, If I come back to play again... it's to win a super bowl" Rogers did indeed mention the Super Bowl stuff. He just first went into his individual performance, because the media has been ragging on it. So he wanted to clarify that he thinks he hasn't slipped at all and can still play at an MVP level. So the question to him, isn't about his ability to play ball. It's about the situation to win a super bowl.

Despite the critics, Rodgers has played well in the playoffs. He's got 45 touchdowns to 13 interceptions and a 100 passer rating. I love Arod from the beginning. I absolutely adored him from 2012 onward. 2020 was our last chance. He played lights out, we had the homefield advantage throughout, other teams were injury-ridden (e.g. Rams, Chiefs) and in all fairness he played well enough in the NFCCG until the 4th qtr. But after 17 years it's time. We should've parted ways after last season. He should have left for his own sanity and self-esteem because Gutekunst and Murphy did him dirty after his downyear in 2018/19. 49ers wanted him, Denver courted him and both teams would've cherished him. And Packers could've made a decision on Love and started the rebuild with some valuable picks. Now, it's a lose-lose-situation.
@HatimMoe
@HatimMoe Жыл бұрын
I won’t say that Rodgers is perfect but let’s be honest. Rodgers is expect to play exceptionally well every game to get to the SB and win it. Why I say this…. If u want to take a deeper dive in Aaron Rodgers career post season stats. Requirements for the stats is to have over 100 pass attempts and 10 games played in the playoffs. Rodgers is 10th in TD% while Tom is 22nd Brees 17th Farve 13th Russ 14th. The only player who is arguable top 5 greatest QB ahead of Rodgers in this category is Montana with 7th Rodgers is 5th in Completion% while Peyton is 11th Big Ben 10th Montana 12th Brady 13th Steve Young 14th and it goes down with more noticeable players below Those ahead of him who are arguably top 5 is just Drew Brees at #2 Rodgers is #6 in yards per game which here I give credit to Brady at #4 Brees #3 and Manning at #5 Rodgers is tied 2nd in interception rate in the playoffs behind Bart Starr and tied with Mahomes So in regards to saying he chokes and this and that ur wrong. Rodgers is just put in situations where he has to be exceptional to win while QBs such as Brady can manage games and not be the best in multitudes of games to still win And with an off note Patrick Mahomes is the greatest playoff performer and if he continues on his pace he will cement himself as one of the greatest. I purposely didn’t mention him in the stats above
@zein9227
@zein9227 Жыл бұрын
@@HatimMoe Those are some great stat lines. Thank you. You know, I second that. Skip hates on Aaron and exaggerates his faults. However, Aaron is easily Top 3 most talented and Top 10 best QBs in league history. His career is actually very similar to Dan Marino. Marino is the greatest passer ever, at least in my opinion, and he was super clutch (8th in all-time 4th qtr comebacks). But Miami had the worst defenses in the 80s and 90s. Same with us. Fact is, we never had a Top 10 defense throughout the 2010s. The gut wrenching losses against Seattle and the Cardinals weren't on Aaron. The losses against the 49ers in 2012 and 2013 were due to the immense effort of Kaepernick. The loss in 2019 was due to horrible play calling where everyone knew that the 49ers were running the football and Packers played Cover 2. The only time we were actually outplayed was against the Giants and Falcons. Still, 2020 was that year. Packers played a terrific 4th qtr. in the NFCCG and picked Brady 3 times. Unfortunately, our offense went 3&out three times. That was on Aaron, too. Jones' fumble, St. Brown's dropped 2pt conversion, LaFleur's idiotic FG decison cost us, too. But Aaron didn't run on 3rd&8. And last year, he managed only 10 points against a really depleted 49ers team because he didn't trust anybody besides Davante and Jones. That being said, I will miss him very dearly. He is one of my favourite players and he is the 2nd greatest QB in franchise history after Bart Starr. I wish him all the best when he leaves and I hope he balls out again. Who knows, he might win another chip with one of those teams who are "only a Quarterback away".

@@NeverSober8008 Those stats are leading to Mahomes being the greatest performer. You can nitpick any great QB games. If you like I can nitpick many of Brady, Brees, Manning, etc. playoff games but that won’t do anything. In the playoffs your team plays the best of the best and it’s extremely difficult as a QB to be the best of the best against the best of the best “consistently”. No QB has been consistently good in the playoffs for a good amount of playoff games and I believe no QB WILL EVER BE CONTINUOUSLY GREAT/GOOD in the playoffs.

I think it’s time to move on from Aaron and go forward with Love. The team, specifically the receivers are very young so you’d essentially be starting over with a young roster and build up from there now. Because you’re not going any farther with Aaron then you are now. He’s already shown recently that winning the MVP won’t maximize their chances in the playoffs. He may could do more somewhere else, but right now I just think it’s time to start over in Green Bay.

Love the sides of this both skip and Shannon have great points as I’m a huge fan of packers. But what I have seen out of the organization throughout his career minus last couple seasons. Is they didn’t add help on the offensive line after that Super Bowl season their offense line was terrible for couple of seasons and than you go on to say he’s a choke artist but when they have chance to make playoffs and they could use help at wide receiver due to injuries but instead go without I don’t know I know what he’s getting for money is crazy but is just getting what he feels is owed to him because he’s always taking the hits in the press conference after tough games losses. This being in the spot light and that medical stuff he’s doing. What happened to the glory days of Rodgers hitting Jordy in stride those days of throwing the smoke them sign to him don’t get me wrong Addams is great in his own respect. But there was a time we’re they could have helped Adam’s by bringing in a bit better than lizard. So maybe this is his way of controlling them for not getting him talent before who knows but it’s definitely getting to be the new normal.
