Splendid work Aaron!! It would really be nice to see like a breakdown of your process from setting up your brushes (Wacom/PS settings) to how you change from one brush to another.

You're an amazing artists! I started watching this but forgot to look at the title and after awhile I started thinking, this is Jake Gyllenhaal. So I was going to ask you in the comments but then I saw the title. You are amazing! Jake is one of my all time fav actors as well.

Could you do a painting process so maybe we can understand your thoughts behind a piece? It would help a lot! I see it happening but would love some insight of it too!

Have you tried Art Set 4 for the iPad? I recently bought the upgraded Pro version. It’s really interesting. I like the simplicity, interface and realism.

ooooh thats so cool I wish I could color like that!! Oh i was wondering: how do you put your colors on the side bar of photoshop? i don;t want to keep clicking "foreground color" all the time sooo....
@ZeroStrife13968 жыл бұрын
That's a new feature starting from Photoshop CC 2015 (I think? that's the one I have, not sure about 2014)

See, I would love to get to this point somewhere down the road. But I'm clueless with where to start. I know there's important fundamentals that take years of practice, but I don't know what they are or where I should focus my attention. Any pointers?
@banama17588 жыл бұрын
great stuff as always but i was wondering why did you started painting zoomed out ?
@AaronGriffin8 жыл бұрын
Hey thank you very much! :) Working in small is a great way of picking out the basic shapes. Something i always recommend doing. Its much easier to see the overall picture when you are not distracted by subtleties and details. As a rule of thumb... if it reads well in thumbnail, then it should read well large. I also keep a secondary window open to see the painting it in small throughout the entire process (window/arrange/new window in photoshop). It helps to read the values this way :)

Dude, your a crazy talented artist. you deserve more views. Can't stop watching these, and the music choice. That first song to this vid, I know you put the name... But I cant find it, just the different versions. I see you use Spotify, is there any way to link to Spotify?
@AaronGriffin7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Travis! So glad you enjoy the videos! I'd be happy to share the song, if you paste this into your search you should get the right one... spotify:track:68RI4I6SKm57SxjG06OYvN :)

@AaronGriffin8 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much Kati! And is that so? Perhaps you could also recommend me some nice music to listen to :D I work as an illustrator for a studio called Gamesys but the work is rather different to my personal pieces, which tend to be more fantasy/sci-fi based... and portraits :)

***** I most certainly can :D You might want to check out The Oh Hello's songs, especially The Lament of Eustace Scrubb and Like the Dawn + The Woods - Hollow Coves for starters ^^

Hi again! Got a song and a question. The song : Ben Howard - Promise (his other songs are awesome as well) AND did you have a picture of Jake Gyllenhaal by your side when you were painting this? Or did you just make it all up. And where could I get those brushes? :)
@AaronGriffin8 жыл бұрын
Kati Eskelinen Ahhh yes Ben Howard, I am a fan of his music! :) I did have a reference for this one yes. I did it as a value study which you can find here... uk.pinterest.com/pin/408349891190670318/ Its easier to picture the shapes when working from reference so this method is definitely easier when used on studies. My brushes you can download here too... aarongriffinart.deviantart.com/art/BRUSHES-609357781 :)

@AaronGriffin8 жыл бұрын
Hey, thank you! :D I duplicate the layers so I can put together a little step-by-step process board when it's finished. Like this one... aarongriffinart.deviantart.com/art/Jake-Gyllenhaal-Process-609518684 :)

Aaron, whats youre opacity/flow jitter at?
@AaronGriffin7 жыл бұрын
logan patenaude Hey logan, I have both set at 100% and in my brush settings I set the opacity to pressure sensitivity so I can get the full range :)
@loganpatenaude78807 жыл бұрын
Most people like to keep the pressure sensitivity off and use a certain percentage. Do you prefer this way or the way you used in your video?
@AaronGriffin7 жыл бұрын
logan patenaude I much prefer to keep it at 100% yeahhh. I often apply the paint at full opacity and let the brush stroke trail off as I reduce pressure. I find this gives a thicker and more natural feel to the texture too. It also allows me to apply one brush stroke more carefully as opposed to several strokes to build up the colour/value I want :)
@loganpatenaude78807 жыл бұрын
Gotcha. But if you apply paint at full opacity you must press really hard then to initially get it to be 100% opacity if you have it set to pen pressure. I'm assuming this is the case?
@AaronGriffin7 жыл бұрын
logan patenaude you are correct! :) Though if you go into your wacom preferences (providing you use wacom) you can set your 100% pressure firmness to a lighter level so you don't need to press down as hard.
