On Anzac Day - Tuesday 25th April 2023, Steam Incorporated’s Ab 608 was lit up at Waipara, during its layover at the Weka Pass Railway, to be turned at Waikari prior to returning north on rail tour duties, with Pounamu Tourism Group. Whist the Ab was in steam on the railway, the opportunity was taken to hold a special day for Weka Pass Railway volunteers. As a result, some goods wagons and a guards van were attached, recreating a typical Canterbury branch-line goods train from the days when Ab locomotives were the mainstay of rural branch lines in New Zealand - enjoy!
