@@CurmudgeonTransmission you're welcome. I was watching because I need to remove my extension housing. I wasn't sure if it was "pressed" on or simply slips off of the shaft. your removal of the housing indicates it slips off. Ill proceed. Thanks!! I also watched you rebuilding a transmission. there were parts everywhere!! it made me anxious...but you know what you're doing...I do not!!

I'm currently figuring out code P0983 shift sol. s4 circuit high resistance, on a 2011 Toyota Sequoia 4x4 with this same transmission. I Found that after disconnecting the batt. then removing the ECM connector, it appeared to have what looked like oil sitting the bottom of the ECM connector housing. So I cleaned it up with crc electronic cleaner & air nosel, then applied new dielectric grease and reinstalled. still throughing the code, so then unplugged the bigger trans main sol. connector and was satterated in ATF...? Going to now replace the internal valve body wiring harness and crc clean the external trans harness connector and hope the ECM is not damaged, as every sol. has the correct resistance...? wish me luck and nicely done video, thank you!

your videos are very well organized. I have a question. I removed the extension housing/rear adapter on my ab60f 4wd. there is a rod/arm protruding from the rear of the transmission on the left (looking from the rear of the transmission. A) what its that rod? B) what position should it be in (up or down)? it appears to be move up and down; it was in down position when I removed the housing. I did not try to move it. Thanks!!

Thanks. That is the park rod. It is held in place by a bracket bolted to the case under the valve body. Taking the tail housing off should not have affected it. To check it after you put the housing back on place the shifter in park and try to turn the output shaft. It may turn slightly then lock in place. Then move it one click, that will be reverse. It should turn freely in this position.

What was the problem in that transmission?

Not sure what the complaint was on this one. However, all the newer Toyota 6 speeds, A750, A761, A960, AB60's have the same problems. The valve bodies get worn out and then they start throwing codes. How long it gets driven after that is to how much damage there will be. Have yet to have one with any gear train damage. Seem to be better than the older ones in that respect. If people would stop driving them and put a valve body on them, they could get some more miles out of them. The real fix is a new valve body, but I have had pretty good success with the Sonnax Zip kits.

@@CurmudgeonTransmission whats the symptoms of bad valve body ? People could get confused when is a bad frictions or bad internal componentes but really is bad valve body ?

@@ricardoandreschaparro3590 Depends on what valves are worn the most. Lock up issues. Slipping shifts. Harsh up or down shifts. If you have burned clutches and it was not run out of fluid that valve body is bad. It is the number 1 failure on these units.

Surprised that you took only 27:33 mins for disassembly. Looks very complicated. I would never be able to put it back together. Seems like a cakewalk for you.
