this is why it's good. It throws out the bullshit "friendship and bonds" theme all sports anime have. Sure it is present in it but this is just better because it's new. It also fits with my own philosophy of "You can be arrogant if you can back it up"

@@a-buttonace Look at some of the most known atheletes in the world. They are all fucking egoists wanting to prove and showoff just as much as they want to win. Think back to school. Wasn't there always that one fucking obnoxious and cocky yet very athletic guy who was better than most of the others? Viewed negatively Egoism is arrogance and a bad mentality, but viewed positively it is overwhelming confidence. You can argue that it is unjustified but you can't argue that its the selfish and arrogant people who are both the most ambitious but also those who nearly always gets the best lives or just the most of it. My philosophy isn't wrong. No philosophy in this world is wrong as its litterally only theory, not factual. If my philosophy is wrong then so would all other great philosophers. Im not trying to be deep here, im merely stating something i believe. After all this damn society can't shut up about freedom of speech and equality

My favorite part about this moment, Isagi even though he is the 2nd worst player among all 300 (even if he didn't know it) he was the very first one to take off. Nobody else moved, not until they seen someone else sprinting towards their goal, consumed by their Ego. They're just followers.

Kinda! It gets a lot of comparison to elimination / death game anime (the writer's previous work was As the Gods Will, a death game), so it's kind of like the Squid Game of soccer as well.

It’s a shame we don’t have a true MMA anime It seems like it has everything you need for a successful anime: flashy combat, ego, character development. Hajime No Ippo did an amazing job with depicting boxing without overbearing anime tropes. I’m sure someone can make an MMA anime in the same vein Especially if they take inspiration from PRIDE FC for it’s over the top violence

I'm almost always a fan of a good dub, but this sounds and feels so incredibly acted even to me. I don't watch sports anime, but I'm betting that people who watch this show won't be disappointed. Again, I'm never one to shit in dubs, but this seems especially good.

You know I took a look and people seem to be getting the wrong idea and frankly what I think Ego has wrong. He wants a self centered player that will take the shot instead of playing it safe that team work is useless in the road to victory. But he’s wrong. Being selfish can actually help a team, you callus argue some team players are actually selfish in their desire to help and support to claim victory for the team. Being an egoist means you can’t be a team player ever. That being a self centered asshole is all that is needed to attain victory. Granted it’s not like those types don’t have their place and use but more often than not they screw over their team.
