If it was built in 1877, can you imagine the life then? These people were probably lords to have that kind of money to build this house back then. As josh was walking into the rooms, I was imagining beautiful carpets, glassware, paintings, sculptures. I wish I could go back in time...

I would assume that craftsmen in that era, were found by word of mouth. wow to have that much skill! they had such an awesome eye for detail and quality. and all done by hand yet. if only things could be made that fine these days.

I hate people who comes to abandoned places to destroy everything. At what point should one be frustrated with life to want to destroy something as beautiful as an abandoned mansion? I mean, it's an historic place, full of stories, where you can learn a lot, yet you decide to destroy it for your own pleasure. If you visit an abandoned place, please be respectful for other people who would like to visit it and do as if it was a museum.

I am italian. The label on the wine bottle says 'VINO BARBERA': this is the kind of wine, just like saying 'Champagne wine'. Below you read 'F.LLI SPINOGLIO': that is the family that produced it, translated is 'Spinoglio Brothers'. My guess is that that wine in not high quality and is not good anymore

Okay, so I don't mean there are no historical buildings in the USA, there are still many just as amazing as this one. But in older established countries, you will see castles and churches and and a slice of each particular country's culture embedded in the architecture and art of these buildings which could date back centuries, something the USA misses out on.
@leeannirvin8557
@leeannirvin8557 7 жыл бұрын
The Super J So very true. Ours is a relatively new country. We don't have castles and churches and monasteries or ruins that date back thousands of years ago. Several years ago I was lucky enough to visit Spain and Portugal. The whole time I was there I kept trying to wrap my head around how old the buildings the churches and the ruins were. We have nothing like that here. So love and be proud of your long rich history and never take it for granted. It's amazing.

Things like this make me sad, lots of people today, don't appreciate the history in buildings like this. People think it's okay just to walk in and start smashing things up. But what they don't understand is we will never get it back, once it's gone, it's gone. To build a house now it's just throwing a bunch of bricks together, no effort is put into building anymore, there will never be the same beauty again, so that's why we should look after the little gems that are still standing.

My dad got to go to some places in Venice no one was aloud to go. Now these places are flooded. I have his photos. He also saw the Pieta several weeks before a man took a saw or hammer to it. We lived in Italy 3 years. My Mom is 83 & loves watching. She and my dad explored Europe together. She’d be an Urban explorer if she were young. I think she appreciates your respect for the buildings. This was a wonderful video!

I'm from there. There are better mansions than this. Better preserved, better located geographically, more pictoresque. Josh was all in awe and stuff for some ceilings and scultptures, but that's just a scratch of what XVIII century architecture can offer. Plenty of places could use some renovation, but it costs like crazy and you gain no real profit by opening them to the tourists.

what an absolute spectacle of a building. Sell the vintage wine to get money to restore, maybe put a special price tag on the wine say it's only worth £10 a bottle or whatever but market it for like £25 and put a tag on the bottle to say 'whoever bought this wine has played a key part to restoring a treasure' There's no doubt people would buy it solely for the fact there are people who would love to see this restored. and besides you get a bottle of vintage wine... win win if you ask me!

Great video and amazing house. So sad that something so unique and old has been left to rot away. There is a 17th century mansion about 30 minutes away from where I live and it is the same story. Was grand at one point but was purchased by a couple whom said they would fix it up and never did. Has huge historical significance in my area. Its called the Preston-Crockett House located in Abingdon, VA, USA

My heart bled a little when I saw all these wine bottles that were left in the building and that no one gets to enjoy anymore but on the other hand it was really comforting to see that whoever lived there made sure that there would always be wine. My parents-in-law are Italian and make their own wine, not for commercial trade but for private use only. They put a lot of labour into it and are immensely proud of their wine and appreciate every single drop of it. By the way, does anyone know where to find this building or in which region it is located?

Barbera is a type of grape. Amazing old mansion thanks for sharing. They don’t have workmanship like that anymore. It must have been beautiful. It’s a shame that the owners let it go to rot. Why don’t they at least salvage doors and windows that are solid wood and crafted. At least someone could buy them and appreciate the workmanship in their own homes. The ceiling that had fallen down would have art on the chunks. Hope you saved a piece.

I believe the mesh you called straw was used in combination with the plaster for the ceilings because it would apply to the curves in it's design. I had never seen this method used before. The weaves in the mesh is extra ordinary in itself.

I WISH THAT JOSH HAD STUDIED ARCHITECTURE! DEFINITLY, this is a faux Renaissance style of architecture that, in some ways mimics the Florentine style at the time of Michelangelo. this is lovely to see. The mimicry of the artwork on that oval ceiling mimics part of what one can view of the the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. Go figure. The person who put this together had a few lire to do this well. Also, the gold leaf work is wonderful to behold. So much to learn from this.

Man, can you imagine this place when first built. Detail is incredible. Sad to see such beauty decay & destroyed. Are you guys not nervous about mold & mildew? I am nervous for you! Thank you for sharing this. Wish it were restored.

There is something so earnest about you Josh, almost a childlike quality that contrasts your bravery and steadfastness as an explorer so perfectly. Over the last week I have been systematically going through all of your videos. I just love them and wanted to thank you and your crew for going above and beyond into bringing these high quality masterpieces. Each video is brilliant. Stay safe and curious.

Rush matting was used as insulation around that time! You’re looking at the predecessor of that pink fluff! That’s beautiful!!! I’m glad you got to see that.

7:35 The face on the wall reminds me of the wooden face that's on the bulkhead in the First Class Lounge of the Titanic and Olympic. At the White Swan Hotel, the Olympic's original lounge with all the wood carving can be found preserved inside as a dining hall. It's as close to Titanic as you can get.

That is so cool! Yh, Italy is full of abandoned houses\mansions. Near the town where I grew up in Tuscany there is an actual whole village abandoned in the middle of the forest. If you're interested, hit me up. P.S. This place actually look so similar to a reaccurring nightmare that I used to have lol

Hi Josh. I was wondering if you had any information on this location you could possibly give me so I could find the architect and research any other works he'd done and I also wanted to research the history of the family who had the exquisite home built. I would super appreciate any help you could give me! Thanks a bunch and keep these videos coming! Good bless!

Such a beautiful mansion. The artwork is incredible. If the owner kept his promise and restored it,it would be stunning. I hate when people destroy property. When you were outside and looking up at the faces on the outside wall. It looked like lights or something under the roof lip.

Its such a shame that people had to destroy such a beautiful, detailed place. I wish I could just go back and time and live there if I bought that house I would try and restore it to what it was before. I bet it was absolutely gorgeous. I love the effort they had put into the buildings back than all of the designs were so detailed.
