Abandoned Baron B55 will it start or catch on fire. WE FAILED kinda

Today we will find out if it will start after sitting for 14 years. We have a major fuel leak and fire hazard. If we can’t get it running then it will be cheaper to send the plane to the scrap yard. Spoiler, We Failed kinda.
Don't for get to check out the video on the abandoned Cessna 182 Sky Lane. Both airplanes where owned by the same owner and sat at the airport for 14 years. These planes where destined for the scrap yard. Thankfully I was able to purchase these planes and rescue them from the scrap yard (hopefully). I am a combination of Jimmy's World and Rebuild rescue. If you haven't seen their videos please check them out. This journey is just beginning.

1. Take fcu's, spiders and injectors off and have inspected and renewed. 2. remove mags and have inspected and renewed. 3. replace splugs or just clean. 4. clean out and lubricate cylenders, see that engine turns. 5. Do oil change. 6. Inspect and repair all fuel and oil lines. 6 Flush wing tanks and inspect for leak and repair. 7. Fit all parts. do fuel flow test. 8. Double check mag timing. 9. Run it for 10min, drain oil and inspect filter for metal opjects. 10. Replace oil and run again. 11. Perform blow by test. But that is just me, and that is where I would start..

how do you verify structure integrity and stress free ?

We have to visually inspect the entire airframe to insure there isn't any corrosion or cracks.

These 79 models came with corrosion proof paint inside. What State is this in.?

@Daybreak Aviation Florida? Always is hard on airplanes for corrosion with salt air. My Dad and I looked at a 73 model B55 in Florida in the in like 1982 and couldn't believe the corrosion had already penetrated severe damage even inspection panels were eat up and gone plus bubbled filly form everywhere under the paint.

I'm nit expert but shouldn't they have shut down immediately after seeing fuel pouring out instead of just watching it with other engine still running & are those electrical connectors ok? Looks really SKETCHY to me.

We stopped pretty quick after we noticed the leak. But yes cranking an engine that could backfire and fuel leak is a bad combination.

@@Daybreakaviation ok awesome, maybe it was the video footage or the editing for KZfaq that made it look like a long period before shutdown considering you were feet on the ground. It was just an observation from my armchair..lol

Agreed and Those connectors on an airplane??? Classic car people even shun them for safety sake. etc. etc..
