We explore the abandoned house of a Scottish highlander.
Somewhere up in the highlands of magnificent Scotland, miles away from any civilisation, there sits a lonely abandoned mansion beside the shoreline, isolated and long forgotten.
Built in the 1700s, it has been within the family for generations, passed down through the years.
Its untouched, crowded by a wealth of possessions, frozen since its last resident left.
Hallways lead to more hallways, rooms are tucked behind rooms, parts of the house appear far older than the rest, keeping us wondering, what's around the next corner…
Reaching up three stories, it seems to have been home to many family members at once, beds can be found in almost every room.
This grand old house is like no other we have seen so far.
Join us as we step inside this truly outstanding Scottish time capsule…

I was surprised when I saw some of the tartans in this old Manor home. In one wardrobe I saw a tie just like I own. Also many books were about the Isle of Skye. Then in one of the pictures of this old gent I saw someone I knew, who was Chief John MacLeod of Dunvegan Castle, Skye. My MacLeod family migrated to North Carolina in 1772 from Skye. I'm sure this gentleman was closely related to Chief John's family. They probably have holdings in London which is a more exciting place to live. Tim King. Phoenix, AZ.

I live in Western North Carolina in the mountains. We have many Scottish people here and hold the games in the Highlands. That's about 40 minutes from where I live. I am a McClure and my mom was a Buchanan., which is Irish. I loved the exploration! Many wonderful things in this home. I love the location. Thank you for sharing this with me. ❤😂

This just made me feel really sad. You literally can’t believe no descendants from the family are involved. If the inhabitants went into a nursing home or something the only thing I can think of is the family had had a falling out and were estranged from their kids. It is something that bugs me that it’s so hard to answer these questions. Sure, the kids may have got their own lives moved far away. Then maybe THEY died in a tragic accident or just from illness. If they are all still alive and they DIDNT have a family falling out, then maybe yea, they’re just too far away. But it still really does not make sense.

I considered the estrangement as well. It does seem authorities would contact next of kin in a situation of death though, but perhaps they don't search if there is no forwarding known address.

if the owner went into a nursing home, the property would be sold to pay for his care. Families don't just vanish so there must be some reason for this property to have been left behind. The house and contents could have been sold.

Wow, absolutely in love with the place, inside and out, all that history and the surroundings, imagine being so lucky to have been once living in such a beautiful place , would love a couple nights there, even in the condition it now lays, did a search on the name of the man in the painting , came up with a sir John Macleod 1st Baronet 1857-1934 ,scottish MP for the unionist party ,for Glasgow, son of Rev Norman Macleod , wonder if same ? Got to be the best video, that i seen in a long time , thanks for sharing 👍🙂

Do you ever research into these places to find out what happened to the owners and why everything was left behind? So sad that people spend a lifetime collecting 'stuff' and then to see how it can all be left behind. The family heirlooms and photos are tragic in the disregard of loved ones gone. Cracked me up how you were trying to be stealthy and then shining lights at windows without curtains.. flagging anyone who would've been in range of the home. Clever that.

@@sugarsundae3400 It is complicated, when family lose loved one's often they can't bring themselves to dismantle what a loved one left behind, I remember when my Mother died I started crying as me and my daughter started to bag and give to charity my mums belongings, It felt like I was erasing my mums presence. I will make a video about this because it is hard to type it all out. He was a very well known veteran it can take years for immediate family to face up to the process of dealing with possessions left behind, I will post a video here later.

I hope that it doesn’t get looted and trashed any time soon. This is one of the best locations I have seen. Thanks for showing us round on this explore. I would love to know the story to this property being abandoned. It’s like the owners just walked out, never to return. This property deserves to be saved and to become a happy home again. Thank you for taking all of us on these great explores and showing me these beautiful places that I would NEVER get to see if not for all of you. PLEASE keep being real and doing the awesome explores that you do. DO NOT pay attention to all the negative, disrespectful people that have nothing good to say on their comments, they should just keep them to them selves. This was an ABSOLUTE BEAUTIFUL property, THANK YOU for sharing. Much love to you ALL.. PLEASE STAY SAFE!! From Oregon USA 🇺🇸 😊💞 To all the negative cruel people, this ABANDONED HOME DID have dust, tons of cobwebs and sure looked like the closests had A LOT of clothes in them, so I'm not sure what video you all are watching. 🤔🙄 Take another look see... 🤓😳😊

I can't wait to get inside. The deadly dog sign just tells me they definitely worked hard for what they had. The bedroom mirrored dresser I'm hoping you captured its beauty. The design looks the same as what was handed down to me from my great great gram from Ireland which was given to her as a wedding present in the mid 1860s. My house was broken into in the 1990s and all of my family antiques were stolen. I miss my moms cedar chest she had made with her own hands all tongue an groove with a lid she soaked an bent the wood herself. That piece only over 100yrs old meant more to me than any other piece. So now you know why I absolutely love your videos as well as the paintings you capture. Aka:Retired Artist xx

The guy could have been living as a recluse in squalor for years before his death as having a property but no longer the means to maintain it happens to many in old age. If he has then died intestate there could be a ongoing legal battle between remaining heirs as to who gets what and these disputes can go on for years with no family member being allowed to remove anything which would account for your find.

Fantastic coverage, thank you for respecting the place and the past owners. I can't get my head around how descendants, friends, neighbors, government departments...WHOEVER, allow houses with insane about of history and valuables, are just left!!!!!!! It seems so disrespectful to the past occupiers that a home is now a slowly decaying shell.

Always sad to see such a place left so frozen in time with not a soul to remember or treasure the memories or possession of those gone before us. But wonderful to see that people have had the respect to leave it as it is without ransacking the place.....Great tour guys!

What an awesome house (or more like mansion). When you were coming across all those family photos its makes one wonder where on earth have the family gone to? It definitely appears to have belonged to some sort of Lord or someone high in Scottish society. But it was simply heart breaking to watch. You revealed what was clearly once a loving happy home filled with a wonderful family which has now become a distant memory. Its made me rather sad to see that home going to rack and ruin. I love the respect that you both show the place and the family that lived in it. Thanks S&J for making such a wonderful and poignant explore video. You pair are truly one of the best Urbex Mavericks out there! All the best. 👍.

Incredibly moving to watch, all those once treasured possessions now left to ruin. It brings the reality into sharp focus that all our things are only ever on loan for the time we are here . How sad that this lovely home has been abandoned to the elements with noone to love and care for it 😢

I love this Explore so much. It's so sad to see that there's possibly no family members left to take those valuables out. My dad's house has furniture furniture from 200 years ago from my parents great grandparents mansion. I live in an apartment and I'm the oldest child and it would normally be left to me but I can't fit it here. I hope my brother will take it because he does have a house. I hate to see all these valuables go to waste and rot away.😿

Hi Sam and Jess, Beautiful house, lovely antiques. I would love to know what happened to the family and descendants. I hope things get saved before the roof falls in. I wonder if anybody still resides in there. It probably would be haunted being so old and lived in for so long. They probably loved it that much they came back or didnt leave. Stay Safe. Merry Christmas and enjoy time with family and friends 🎄🎅🙏👻❤❤

I'm not so sure this place is abandoned. I think it belongs to someone who has several homes, given their age and how the last couple of years have been I reckon they just haven't returned.

For an abandoned house, it is exceptionally clean in areas ie no dust! I would hate to think that strangers were trespassing on my family property. How did you get in? Someone is obviously paid to tend the grounds.
