ABANDONED MOTEL WARREN PA

In this vlog we visited a few different places in Warren, PA to give you guys some never before seen content from this town! We started off at the Warren State Hospital (A public psychiatric hospital in Warren, Pennsylvania, established in 1880. The original hospital was designed by John McArthur, Jr. and constructed under the Kirkbride Plan. Its population peaked at 2,562 residents in 1947. As of 2019, the hospital is still active)
We also visited The Red Maple Inn Motel which closed down in 2014. If you get a chance go check out the reviews for this place on Google, I can understand why they shut down...
And to end this video we stopped at what we believe used to be an abandoned hair salon/store of some type called "Route 62 Sweets"

I grew up in Warren and my parents still live there. Its sad to see that town dying.

i was born and raised in warren pa. when u were talking about kyaking the hill just after that on the right of that hill was were my grandparents home was. I so wish someone would buy and open that little diner it was so nice for truckers to stop and local.

I wish you would have toured more of the Warren State Hosp., I used to work there in the 60's! What you showed looked new to me but did see the old admission building at the end of your tour.

Mike Gross we wanted to check it out more but, we weren’t sure if we were alowwed to be in there. Security was scoping us out

That resteraunt used to be called j and D's diner remember it a lot when I was a kid in the early 2000s then about 10 years ago new owners bought it. Never went there after the new people bought it. It's probably been closed for about 3 years now.

I’ve stayed at this motel about 13-14 years ago and it was not too bad. I drove by recently before winter and weeds were all over grown.

Wow that’s pretty cool thanks for sharing! We drove by the motel a few weeks ago and unfortunately it was completely torn down. It was in pretty bad shape when we filmed this video so I can understand why it was though. Thanks for watching! 👍

The State Hospital is now home to many other businesses. The main building still houses patient's.

As of today the motel has been tore down. 62 sweets has been a restaurant of many names and owners. Used to be happening place

You should have also shown some of old homes. I've lived here for the last 11 years. I moved here after I got out of the military.

That diner used to serve truckers and it was a pretty cool place. I grew up in North Warren.

my girlfriend lives in warren currently. the red maple inn was bought and torn down.

I grew up living here near the hospital and both my parents worked here . I live in federal now. This place has been here since the 1800s and there is so underground tunnels that connect buildings as patients were transported between buildings during winter. This place has so many to explore .The motel is no longer now.

Wow thanks for sharing all of that information! We never knew about the underground tunnels being there. We’re hoping to one day get in contact with somebody who could give us permission to explore the hospital or even get a guided tour. Route 62 sweets use to he an old family owned dinner/resturant that was owned by the family behind the barn I'd I do believe. Living in Warren my whole life I remember driving by it at night and seeing it up and running

62 sweets/hair salon was actually the "route 62 diner". IDK why they closed because they were always packed. That was less than 5 years ago. So it hasn't been abandoned that long.

They had a new owner as early as last summer. I know someone who was cutting down brush and such on the property. Not sure plans for it though. I think just slowly remodeling. Maybe cool to contact and interview owner? Maybe a part two?

No it’s actually right across the street. The building has unfortunately been torn down since filming this.

We actually just drove past there last week & were shocked to see this! Wish we could have seen it one more time but had no clue it was being torn down.

What are they doing with that hospital and is it owned by the state? . What a shame, and also shame on the leaders of warren for not doing something and letting the town get so run down. I worked at the state Hospital in the 60s. And warren was a lovely town then.

Well warren is a nice place it’s just that there so old there’s no need for them be better ones have been made other places and it’s a motel that stuff scary either way

Some of the hospital is being used by other businesses and I guess there's some kind of college there also? I don't think the larger building or the residents buildings along the highway are used though.
