High above Los Angeles is the abandoned Nike Missile site that kept watch over the city with the threat of Nuclear War from the Pacific.

I never realised Los Angeles is so beautiful. This is so informative and interesting. It’s so sad that the world has gone backwards about 50 years. War was thought to be obsolete in the modern developed world. Really awesome video Jeven.

You had a lot of interesting information about Nike Hercules that I never knew. I was a radar and computer mechanic on them in Korea. Much of the work was troubleshooting with massive schematics and replacing all kinds of vacuum tubes! (Days before solid state electronics)

I really appreciate the way you tell stories and your ability to paint a picture in my head of how the area used to look. I’ve always had a fascination with areas that had a huge impact on our history but are wiped off the face of the earth or just forgotten.

That's incredible to see some of these relics of history that kept us safe back then. It reminds me when I went to Vermont and camped out on top of an abandoned radar base in East Haven it was part of the pine tree line I think. It may have been part of this system or separate I'm not quite sure.

Great work dude! I've done a few videos on sites like these. The most fascinating is Angel Island in the San Francisco Bay. It was a stronghold from the Civil War to the Cold War and structures are still there. Sad yet fascinating at the same time. Great job sharing history in such an interesting way.

Now days the biggest threat is the one you don’t see, and the intention is to be able to remove your opponent before they have the chance to respond. Thanks for the video!

I had a Sociology professor at ASU tell the class that there has never been a weapon created that wasn’t used. This was 1982.

Well done. You handled this masterfully. I grew up during the Cold War era and remember nuclear bomb shelters, drills in case if attack, what do do after a nuclear blast. We must not forget and you are right I believe. Threat of mutual destruction holds the balance.

There is a Nike missile Cold War era site here in Anchorage, AK that gives tours (they quickly get filled up). It's run by a local nonprofit. I think it's one of the few Nike shoes that's still intact. As always great storytelling.

Thanks Jeven, I'm lucky I grew up in Australia 🇦🇺, so yes the cold war was reality here as well, not on the scale of the US. We don't have missle silos, or missile farms but our Navy was involved in tracking Russian Subs. This was really interesting, not only the history but the depth you take your story telling to, you make the threat a reality and the tension of fear. 🙏🙏🙏
