Apparently some company bought it and has plans for the park now

I'm from south Mississippi, Katrina was hell. I can't believe all of this from Six Flags is still there though.

It has been a while since I saw a video about this site. You did an excellent job of bringing back the memories of that horrible event and giving a nice update to the condition of the park as well. Hurricane Katrina was the storm that really changed so many lives forever. New Orleans was already on a downfall prior to Katrina and the city may never be what it once was. It is hard to believe that when I left New Orleans in 99 that this park was under construction and so hyped up. The park plans were overly ambitious for this side of town. New Orleans East was a terrible place to build this attraction. Most metro residents already avoided the East and the park did little to change that. I think the site should be left as is and let nature take back over.

I was in Clinton, MS during Katrina. Although we only experienced power outages, stores running out of gas, & what Not! It doesn’t compare to the magnitude of the ones who had to encounter this! Leave , evacuate, & this was a TOUGH time ! Devastating, tragic, & we will NEVER forget August 2005!

Hey Rick You did a really good job documenting the footage of this video My senior year of high school My family took 1 last vacation together on the way home we went through the outskirts of New Orleans It is shocking to see what it was before and after Katrina. I'm glad you got your footage Of 6 flags The proper channel people We're not so lucky they got caught by police.

Been wanting to know what this place looks like now, great job! Really liked how you incorporated footage from the rides while they were operating. So many memories there from highschool summer days!

Thank goodness Amazon who bought the property is going to name their new distribution center Jazz Land in honor of the old name and will have old signs from the park to label the differnt areas of the warehouse.

The Six Flags in New Orleans, Louisiana... I personally think it is one hell of a mess when it got destroyed back in late August 2005.

It would be so cool if they would sell the remaining items left in the park. Just the fencing and benches would look incredible in my yard. I've seen hundreds of videos exploring this place and what remains is just wasting away!

Wasn't this by the lake in Central New Orleans back in the day?west of LSU? I was planning to camp out there when the India House Hostel kicked me out, only had a road map from the 1980's. It showed a different amusement park the then this. My coworker at the restaurant confirmed it was there once, and showed me an old add for it on one of his VHS tapes. Shit if my job was in the east, instead of Metairie, I'd of probably slept there a few nights before I found a house to stay... This was in beginning of 05, I had found a Murray Monterey beach cruiser and took that thing across 7 or 8 wards daily

Strange thing is that I was there almost a year early at the n.i.b convention in the Sheraton . plus I knew a lady who helped get the m.r.i portable.machlnes in to the city she was very much in need of a truck driver who knew what to do with that piece of equipment in the proper position

I think six flags came after the hurricane 🌀 and took one ride and left the rest. I guess insurance paid them off.

Rick, while you were filming, what did the atmosphere feel like? Just curious if you could feel like a, Residual Energy from what happened or could feel actual spiritual energy?
