Trust me. It wasn’t the close out sales or the liquidation auction, it was the clientele of the store that trashed that parking lots on a daily basis when the store was open.

I was super sad and surprised to see this one close. to add to your insider knowledge, I know a couple GMs to some stores there and they told me Not only was theft a huge issue, but to add insult to injury, the landlord wanted to raise their rent by a lot. I don't mind driving to North Versailles from Shadyside, but drivers around here... well, you know.

Really good video! I am surprised that there still is a pay phone around! Sure is a small Walmart! My local news here in WNY ever announced on the news that Ames was coming back! Darn! I was hoping it was true!

I used to shop there on occasion. This Walmart closed for the same reason that stores in San Francisco and Chicago are closing now. And it closed for exactly the same reason. There wasn't a time that I would go there that I wouldn't see multiple people walking out of that store with all sorts of stuff (including electronics and other more costly stuff) they didn't pay for, right past the people at the door. And yes, the vast majority of them belonged to a certain, shall we say, demographic. When the weather was nice during the summer, the parking lot became a hang out for that same demographic, and it really was dicey going to that store, especially if you were by yourself. It was a lot less hassle to make the trip about half an hour out Route 8 to the store in Gibsonia, or 15 minutes up Route 28 to the store at Pittsburgh Mills, or even a little further up Rt. 28 to go to the store in Natrona Heights.

I'll admit, I'm not a fan of Walmart in general, but aside from a tiny bit of principle, I don't really get the need to steal from them. That's such a shame people littered the parking lot like that. It almost reminds me of stadium parking lots the day after a huge concert, people leaving their trash everywhere.
