Bill Bottrell is one of the best who worked for me. . I was both engineer and guitar player and part of the Wrecking Crew sessions at my studio in Hollywood. His teenage band band, American Zoo recorded in my studio. I did their guitar overdubs to move things along. When he asked to work for me I knew he was a winner. Always reliable, bright, eithical, on time with excellent ears. He learned quickly. I was was producing and playing guitar with Billy May's big band for TV, Billy Vaughn for JVC. The Ventures recorded with us and and flew him to Japan for a mix one Saturday and returned the next day to our studio. Bill is brilliant humble and always a gentleman. I was lucky to have him. He always gave credit for where he got his start. Thank you Bill. Your friend always, Del Casher,.... inventor of the wah wah pedal.

Just watched your buddy Bill play some incredible dobro guitar for Sheryl Crow in a 1994 gig in Japan. Thanks a bunch for your comment here, Del.

So intrigued by this amazing artist, especially the work he did with Michael. Making demo from ~84-‘86.. The nucleolus of my favorite period of MJ artistic life.

I really wanted to hear his stories about how Michael would sing his musical parts and hear entire tracks in his head and expect everyone to help him bring his vision to life

Sir, you said it all between 19 and 20 mins. Wow. A very clear way of finding or being an artist. Becoming a journeyman. Greatest piece of advice for new buds.

Now I think it was brilliant that Michael Jackson only released his l.p.s when he did every few years taking a couple at a time promoting them and a couple off (or at least out of the public eye which also allowed for there to be time and space for change, growth, and work behind the scenes to take place, as well as for him to enjoy his rewards and some time away from the art and craft itself). I also think it was brilliant when he released the l.p.s and did the projects in context of when they were released compared to one another. With all of THAT said I wonder if there were any other specific reason and or reasons as to why some projects did not happen sooner or even more often than they did. My question is did having Bill Bottrell not available and working with someone else hold work up with Michael? Did Madonna take precedence for any reason good or bad with "Like A Prayer" or what have you? If I were to take a guess the answers for my questions probably would be, "No." in that the answers would also point to good reasons I mention before concerning why things happened the way they did in terms of l.p.s and projects at least per se I guess, eh?

Lots of really good advice here, especially in looking for the "artist in the room" and looking to identify and get on early with the next successful music industry business model (suspect streaming is here to stay, but perhaps revenue streams get addressed).
