It wasn’t that she was Arias’ attorney why people didn’t like her. It was her attitude. Her smirking. Her rolling of the eyes Her laughing at the other side. It was her unprofessionalism that got her in hot water

And how could she say she didn’t think the evidence warranted a first degree murder charge??? Did she not see the same evidence and the MOUNTAIN of it that PROVED Jodi arias PLANNED this murder and then carried it out?! How she just said that with a straight face I’ll never understand!😡

@Lori Massacci I’m certainly not wanting to argue this case but there was WAY more than just those two things that PROVED she PLANNED this murder!! Just to name a few MORE than the gas cans and license plates...the turning off of her cellphone right before and right after leaving Arizona, the stealing of her grandfather’s gun a week PRIOR, lying to everyone about where she was going, ETC.....!!! I watched the ENTIRE trial! She absolutely PLANNED this murder! That’s why it is shocking to so many that Jennifer Wilmot still tries to defend her even after it was PROVEN she premeditated this!

@@jacobjorgenson9285 Yeah, I just don't understand that like we all know that Jodi Arias is a monster. She killed Travis a million times over it was horrific. Awful, there's not even enough derogatory adjectives to describe her, but everybody has the right. Under the Constitution to have legal representation. That's why we do these things so that we can prove whether or not somebody is innocent or guilty. Look how many people have been imprisoned unfairly. I never could understand why these attorneys got hate. All they are doing is doing their job. God forbid any of us would ever be not in Jody situation but in a situation where we would need in a Defense attorney. That's what they're there to do. They represent their clients in good faith They don't go in the case believing that they are guilty. And if so, They probably shouldn't be representing them or be a defense attorney. That's not how it works. I come from a family of attorneys and that's why I say that.

Hailey Q Your rambling about stupid Americans and are Americans really that stupid leaves me shocked that you managed to obtain a law degree in any country. These small minded generalizations don’t really lead one to believe you’re up to defending anyone or anything. For you to then lend us advise on how to show the world we have brains is downright laughable. Rest assured, if we need pointers we won’t be coming to you. Oh one more thing lawyer, the word is imprisonment...wow.

The thing is, Willmott lied and misled so much during the trial, and even here with things like 'I have seen no evidence that convinces me Arias was guilty', that I have a hard time believing anything she says. To be honest, if she told me the sky was blue, I'd still look out the window to check.

@@kannabi I think most attorneys think differently when they are in law school and even for a while after they start practicing trial law. There's a degree of idealism in most people. But then they begin to learn the rules of the game and how the judicial system really works. I think they have to ditch the idealism at some point in order to survive in the profession. One thing I think is at the core of what you're saying is the fact that there's a difference between getting a 'not guilty' verdict and being proven innocent. Someone who wins an acquittal is rarely "proven innocent" because the defense isn't required to prove anything at all. OJ Simpson was never proven innocent. In all the acquittals that John Gotti won that earned him the "Teflon Don" nick he was never proven innocent. It's extremely likely he was never truly innocent of the things he went to trial for. But he won acquittals anyway since the burden of proof is all on the prosecution. I agree with you. The evidence (or lack thereof) is all that matters to a defense attorney and mounting a defense based on that and not the actual truth most times. In spite of all of that, I believe it's still the best system of justice ever devised by the human race. Most times verdicts are in fact aligned with the truth. I think most truly guilty people get convicted and most innocent people get acquitted. But like everything else, it's not a perfect system and miscarriages of justice happen on both sides sometimes.

She should now pay for that for the remainder of her own life, and any "good" she may do, is a very very small price to pay back to the life she took and the devastation that had on his family and friends. These people are not qualified to make these assertions and they probably, as is the reason in this case, believe that about the witness because they personally don't like what the expert testified to.

@@drnogueiras8783 And yes, DV experts or any kind of experts are the main ones who should be commenting on the believability of a case for which they at an expert in. It would be silly, for example, to bring in a financial expert to comment on the believability of a DV case. So obviously yes, the specific type of expert that's been brought in to evaluate a case specific to their expertise should be the only one commenting and evaluating about the case and it's believability.
@iheartlol90
@iheartlol90 4 жыл бұрын
@@drnogueiras8783 But the jury made their decision BASED on the testimony of a qualified DV expert who they listened to for days, as well as other experts. It's the jury's job to come to a conclusion about what they've heard in the trial as it relates to guilt or innocence and in order for a diverse jury who may not be full of DV, psychology, forensic, etc. experts to do that, they need to take the experts testimony into account while making their decision. Again, a person who's not an exprt in something is not qualified to evaluate that thing e.g. a person not an expert in DV is not qulified to evaluate the believability of a DV claim. If you think that they are qualified, then why is there even a reason to bring different types of experts in? Why didn't the court just let Ms. Arias go up on the stand, allege abuse(as she did) from Mr. Alexander and then have the unqualified jury decide if they believe her claims of DV or not? Her lawyers had a DV expert assess Ms. Ariss's case to see if it alignes with her knowledge about relationships in which DV is present. What I heard in the originals poster's comment was dismissing a qualified experts testimony even though they themselves don't have the same or even similar knowledge and expertise to offer a different plausible and understandable explaintion/knowledge instead. I never said all experts would come to the same conclusion nor was my argument about that. Sure, there's bad apples everywhere and educated experts are not excluded from that idea but what I'm saying is how can a person who's not an expert in the same area evaluate whether an expert is a bad apple/not qualified? That person doesn't have the knowledge to do that, and because they don't, they cannot offer a different, plausible explaintion rooted in research and knowledge to counter the other experts claims. Go back to the example I gave of a chemistry expert and apply it to what I just said above and maybe it'll make it more clear what I'm saying.

I just have this to say, about both her and Kurt Nurmi. What exactly were they expected to do? This case was a complete loser from the start. Jodi Arias is the worst kind of client imaginable. She does everything a defendant should not do. Talking to the press, changing her story over and over, sparring with the prosecutor in court, not showing any remorse...let me know if I left anything out. I felt that she said the right thing. She had a job to do, which was to make sure her client was represented. We all knew Jodi was guilty, and so did Wilmott. Even if I were just simply pleading guilty, I know I would want an attorney to protect my rights as a convicted murderer. The case dragged on as long as it did because to me there were so many unnecessary witnesses called to the stand. It shouldn't have taken that long to find her guilty. Defense attorneys exist for our protection, remember that people. And I hate Jodi as much as you all do. But I'd rather live in a system where no matter what the circumstances, everyone gets their day in court. Remember Jodi COULD HAVE plead guilty before trial, but she chose not to.

Lol idiot... Cows were created to be consumed by humans, just like how buffalos were created to be eaten by lions and other predators. This is nature.. Lions eat meat because their stomachs can digest them, just like how our stomachs can digest cooked meat. Some other animals like horses and camels were created to be ridden, and some other animals are not created to be consumed by humans in any way and they simply contribute to nature. And for you to compare people who eat meat to murderers is just ignorant

How can you say that Jodi is remorseful after what she said during sentencing? How she remembers the knife going into Travis's throat and he was conscience? I mean how evil must you be to hurt the family like that? Even if she did forget what Happened and then all of a sudden remember. She is the most disgusting person on this planet to turn around and basically "stab" the family right in the heart again. But you think she is remorseful? What the hell is wrong with you?

To fault Ms. Wilmott for doing her job is the most ridiculous argument. I don't care for some of the tactics the defense pulled but they were doing everything in their power to fight for Jodi's life. Mr. Martinez did a great job in putting her where she belonged, but to go out and threaten these lawyers for going to work each day is the biggest crock of shit these haters perform. I don't care for the players in this saga but one thing I do care for is that Mr. Alexander can now rest in peace, and his family can move forward.
@Sparrowdean
@Sparrowdean 9 жыл бұрын
usaearthling I don't think people are faulting Willmott for doing her job, but it should be possible to be a defence lawyer and still have a degree of integrity and without insulting the intelligence of the public. For instance, she stood before the judge last Monday and told her that no one had called Mr Alexander a peadophile, patently untrue because Jodi gave interview calling him just that and Willmott just mentioned the same interview. Further, both Nurmi and LaViolette alluded to peadophilia in connection to Travis Alexander. Also, according to Arias's mother, both she and her step-daughter claimed to have seen Jodi covered in bruises and were not called to testify, yet in this interview Willmott has categorically stated that they knew of no family members who had seen bruises. They only knew of someone who was untraceable, so who is telling the truth? And why would a competent lawyer expect 2nd degree murder in light of such overwhelming evidence for pre-meditation?
@usaearthling
@usaearthling 9 жыл бұрын
You can't speak for every one on this, and neither can I. There have been many people that hate her and Nurmi for taking this case, just as Ms. Wilmott mentioned, with the threats and all the crazy emails and the media adding fuel to the fire and there were many that aimed their hate and idiocy on Mr. Martinez, this is evident that it happens in all trials. Behind every high profile case is a pack of haters. All I wanted was for Jodi to never walk the streets of this world again, and for Justice for Travis and his loved ones... period...life goes on and I would be happy to not ever hear about this case again...be water my friend...enjoy your day.

I hate that people attack any witnesses or lawyers for the defense. They are doing their JOB. Everyone deserves a fair trial, no matter who they are, or what they've done. You WANT them to have a fair trial, and not get off the hook on a mistrial. Jodi Arias was probably guilty (only her a Travis can know for a fact what happened), and she was punished accordingly, but there are a surprising amount of people charged with crimes they truly did not commit. It saddens me that people jump to conclusions and attack everyone associated with a person on trial as if being charged (or even convicted) of a crime is absolute proof that they did it. Don't get caught up in the hysteria.

I thought about the "Spiderman" underwear she said he liked ,insinuating he was a pervert. I listened to his last speech that was given a little over a month before he was killed. That speech showed a great deal about his personality. He was humble, self-effacing and was kidding and joking about many things that had the audience laughing.The "Spiderman" pants ,like maybe "Superman" or "Big Bird" clothes could of been him , just kidding around with her. And she took it to a new or in this case a lower level , to save herself from the DeathPenalty.He was always joking around and not with kids ...only young adults like himself.Child molesters hang out with kids and are drawn to professions where kids would trust them. I think that it was a smear campaign to make him look worse than her....or a justification for the slaughtering of a human being. Also ,she kept saying and everyone kept assuming that , she dropped that camera ACCIDENTLY .He talked about buying it ,in that last speech of his in Colorado. He seemed to really like it. I think there is the possibility that instead of accidently dropping it , as she said ,which led to his "rage"........ It is possible she intentionally ,in front of him, spitefully threw it down on the water soaked floor....trying to damage or destroy it. She did end up deleting all the photos and putting it in the washer . The last photo of him...if you cover one side of his face,while looking at the other....and then change covering sides ,you will notice one eye is displaying fear and the other eye is showing anger. He was taken off guard and had mixed emotions on what was about to happen to him. Getting out of the shower and leaning down ,picking up his camera and not keeping an eye on her movements in those critical seconds.....she could of easily stabbed him in the chest....putting him into shock ,which ultimately led him to defending himself in half - hearted feeble ways . She lied and said the camera bounced off the ground like a ball. Try just dropping a camera.....it doesn't bounce like a ball. It doesn't bounce at all.Her truths were half truths. She mingled in lies ,with what happened. She might of started the confrontation with after letting his guard down ,having sex ,taking photos ....then slamming the camera down ....with his Soul partly realizing this was it.This was what he had been joking and talking about to his friends ....that he was going to be murdered . Listen ,carefully while he is with a group of friends, with her hanging on him....about a robbery and the idea of a female putting a gun to his head and how frightened he was . He even held up his hand ,pointing his finger like it was a gun ,to the same part of his head that , was actually shot in real life. He never fought back. She was listening intently and slowly raised her head up ,looking straight ahead ,somberly. Everyone else around him ,as was he , laughing his Story off. I wonder what she was thinking in those moments....he would be easy to kill?....he wouldn't fight back?.Who knows. But looking in her eyes....she had the 30 yard stare.
