I love how people are so quick to discredit this man because he had a harness.. if you followed you would have known that they made him wear it in order for him to even do this. Still an amazing feat nonetheless because he made it across without having to use it. This man = legend.

Agreed! I was there, and let me tell you, there was excitment in the crowd, but there wasn't that gripping fear that I wanted to feel. Nik did great, and I have nothing but the highest regard for what he did. I do however think the harness took a lot out of the evening. I left very satisfied with what I saw, but if the walk were done without the harness, I think I would still be tingling with excitment.

But your right, Petit's walk was arguably tougher after hiding for hours overnight under a tarp to avoid being caught. The wire he walked was thinner and he walked back and forth 8 times (over 1600 ft) did stunts, and used a 60lb balancing pole instead of 40lbs which Wallenda used.

RedxNinja. He was force to wear it by ABC, even made him sign a contract to wear it and not take it off when he got on the cable. He does not like safety ropes or harness or safety nets. He believes they are distractions and give a false sense of security. He was made after a little fun he had in Baltimore, where he pretended to slip on tight rope walk he did for Ripleys, about 30 days or before Niagara falls. Scare the scrap out of the ABC executives, so they made him wear it, otherwise the walk would be canceled.

When I heard about this, it was a man crossing NGFalls, without OUT A SAFETY HARNESS! Never heard a peep about protecting him down the wire. I don’t give AF, about pass ports!!! NOW no one is answering about safety wires, why not???? THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING , 6 years later there’s no answer I can find. If we’re strapped in, and can concentrate, invite a regular dare devil to do the same... I’m sure there’s a list somewhere, to do the same thing as him.

No safety harnesses, backup lines or parachutes!!! Also from the same show "Daredevils - The Human Bird" is about Jeb Corliss, an extreme BASE jumper.
